Wait, what? They're adding other Nintendo characters to Mario Kart?

Holy shit. Has a passing idea I've had in the past become reality?

I would actually buy a copy of MK8 if they added characters like King Dedede, Captain Falcon, Ike or Lucina.

The only non mario characters they're adding so far are the Isabella and Villiager from AC, and Link. Falcoms car however is being added as in Kart form, and there'll also be a F-ZERO Stage added.

HOWEVER, Nintendo can't into real DLC or online anything, so it's going to take a long time for this DLC to come out.

It felt like the world had already stopped giving a shit after the first week or two. Only thing you'd really hear about was Mussolini Luigi's Death Stare. Without well planned and timely released updates, no game inteded for MP ever lasts long. GTAVs almost a year old now, and they're still getting constant updates and FREE DLC every few weeks.

But on the Bright side, You get Rockman X4 on PSN next week.

I already have a copy of X4, but I think it's neat that it's getting added to PSN.

Pity they can't do the same with the Legends games. Well, at least I already have Legends, and I've got Legends 2 coming in the mail.

I heard earlier and it sounds amazing. 8 new courses in each one is quite a bit to go along with new vehicles and characters. For $12 it seems Nintendo actually does DLC and patches right.

Tell me more about heists. Tons of people still play MK8 and I would too if I had more free time and didn't have a huge backlog.

So do I, and of every other game in the franchise. But I'd still rebuy them to get them on my Vita. Sadly Crapcom of 'Murrica screwed up on it and a few other games by decided to use guild actors. (The worst guild of all!). So they can't without having to pay out large amounts of cash. And they obviously wouldn't be able to make enough profit from a PSN release if they were to redub the whole game.

I'd personally just settle for PSP versions that were ported a few years ago, even in pure moon. I imported them, and the only time I ever had any issues playing them in moon was in DASH with some of the requests people have, and in DASH 2, specifically when that island teacher has to give you that damn quiz. (Aside from moon, the JP and NA questions were all different.)

Oh, I forgot that you could play PSone games from the Store on the PSP and Vita. Yeah, I can see why'd you want to go for that; playing those old games on a handheld can be fun.

Mario Kart Wii's MP lasted until the day the Wii died with tons of people playing online. And like Fieryone said a few pages back, thanks to some programmers, the MK Wii online is still alive. Considering MK8 has sold 3 million and has gotten quite a few updates since its release to fix some of the issues it had at launch, it's probably going to do better than MK Wii ever did. Will it consistently be mainstream news? No, not really. But it will still be a thriving online community.

Once I finish getting through more of my backlog, i'll probably dedicate even more time to it myself. Too bad there is so much I want to play before 2014 is over.

Launching the first round of DLC in November seems like a calculated idea to give MK8 a shot in the arm around the holiday. Sneaky!

I'm hyped as all hell for it, too. "Smash Kart" should have been a thing a long time ago.

I'm so excited for this. So many new stages are the best part. The cool characters and karts make it even better! I wish the AC one wasn't so far away though, but oh well.

Having an F-Zero track in Mario Kart is probably the best idea ever.

I'm depressed though that we get Dry Bowser but still no Dry Bones.

They need to add Mouser from the fake SMB2 and other obscure characters.

Like a Bobomb who drives a car shaped like bullet bill. Or playable goomba. Not just Mario and peach with a new hat.

Mouser actually became more popular with the female thief Mouser that was in Paper Mario:TTYD who had a crush on Mario and was a secret character. That said, I wouldn't mind a Mouser character.

Anyway, NoA has confirmed that each pack with be 8 dollars, but if you choose to purchase the bundle (a sort of "Season Pass"), it will be 12 dollars. The bundle also comes with the Yoshi and Shy Guy palette swaps.

Also, take a closer look at some of the pictures. One of the new courses looks like it's from the NES Excitebike game.

The best comment I've read so far was a joke one that asked, "So, where does this fit on the Zelda timeline?"

I'm pretty excited at the fact the Excitebike track will have randomly generated ramps. That should make it really fun for online play.

It really needed ti. since while it's a great homage, it's still technically just a basic round track. =/

>_>
<_<

Where's my Paper Boy track, Nintendo?

GOTS award if they ever made an E.T. track. It'll consist of 90% pitfalls and the finish/start like is in a landfill.

I really like the concepts they included in Hyrule Circuit and Mute City. All the little details put into the former are fun. And the fact the latter is completely in anti-gravity along with the only way to get coins being the recharger is a nice way to do a F-Zero homage justice.

I spent the better part of last night finally playing the DLC which led to a whole lot of online play.

The Trifrorce Cup (Wario's Gold Mine/SNES Rainbow Road/Ice Ice Outpost/Hyrule Circuit) is pretty good. I didn't like WGM on MKWii, but I like it a lot here. SNES Rainbow Road is probably the best Rainbow Road in the game. The psychadelic colors and the overall feel make it as if you're going to fall off the track at any time.

The Egg Cup, however, is outright fantastic. Yoshi Circuit makes for a pretty challenging opening stage with its demanding curves. Excitebike Arena is really, really fun with all of its jumps. Dragon Driftway and Mute City are probably the best designs in the entire game and put the anti-gravity to use better than any other track. One wonders why there weren't any tracks in the game that were 100% anti-gravity like these ones. They're just really well designed. I think the MK team understood how to put anti-gravity to its best use once they were practically done in the game, so their experience is producing much better tracks in the DLC.

Mute City makes me want another F-Zero game even more now.

The Blue Falcon cart is really nice as well, as it has little design touches such as boost flames and unique sound effects when you use it. Link is also a pretty fun addition, though I don't see myself using him too much.

As for the online, there are now two options: play with the original 32 courses or play with all 40. I honestly wish there was a third choice for DLC-only because they're that good. Thankfully, the courses are popular enough that when one comes up for the course selection, most people pick them.

I just love the little touches like the life pads in Mute City. Yeah they do nothing, but I'll be damned if I don't pass over it just to get the bwoowoowooop sound effect.

IIRC, they give you coins. At least, that's what I'd heard.
