This is the first time I took part in online mode on release night and it was really gun. I got my score up to about 1,400 which is pretty satisfactory. Beating out Americans isn't that hard unless I get a terrible start. Those elevens on the other hand . . . |

They're literally Newtypes. Don't even try, you'll just bring on more tears. Just we did in Armored Core...And Lost Plant...and every other JP based game. |

I don't know, they're good but not unbeatable. They most always just use the fastest stuff like Funky in Wii and Metal Mario in 7 but since the game is essentially wacky races I don't think it's like how they are in games like Armored Core and whatnot. |

Dyshonest is the NNID. I share the Wii with my brother, so it might not always be me playing. |

No idea, I didn't bother using my account on it because it's not really mine. XD I did make a Mii though. Also, I added Hobbes, BB, Zero, and Phoenix. If I missed anyone just send me a request. |

No, you can have multiple accounts on a Wii U. 3DS I believe is just like the Vita in that you can only have one account, however. |

Wow, the power ups suck ass in this game. I rarely ever get anything decent. Major downgrade from the 3DS one, or even the Wii. I do like the lack of blue shells aimed at me though. I love a lot of the music, they did a good job. |

Honestly, I like that 1st through 4th place get low end power ups. It makes the battle for first a test of skill and course mastery. Sure, 5 through 12 get the uber power ups, but they're in those positions most of the time because they suck. 4th place is absolutely the worst place to be in though as the guy in 5th or 6th place often ends up picking on the guy in 4th place with the more powerful power ups. The only thing that really irks me are those occasional moments on 150cc where you get bombarded by every conceivable item in existence within a matter of 5 seconds. I also like that you can only hold one weapon now. While somewhat disadvantageous in Grand Prix, it makes online much fairer in my opinion. |

That's only assuming the top 1-4 people are significantly farther ahead. If the top 6 or 7 people are all relatively close to each other, then any skill is thrown out the window and the 5-7 people can easily screw over the top people with pure dumb (significantly increased) luck |

As common as that is to every other Mario Kart, it totally doesn't work here that way. It really does feel like it comes down to a battle between the top 4, maybe 5 in this game. I found it really jarring compared to MKWii. |

Alright, who wants a free game code for one of the games that were advertised to be downloadable if you purchased MK8? I like physical copies and already own two of the games, anyway. Let me know quickly as I have the screen up asking me which game I want the code for. It's either Wind Waker HD, NSMB2, Pikmin 3, or Wii Party U. |

. It's nice to see that after 22 years, the AI has continued to find new ways to fuck players over with the most minimal amount of work on their part. |

I know I complained about this before, but power ups suck ass. The player gets generally horrible power ups compared to previous games. It used to suck when you got banana peel trio at 1st... that would be a godsend compared to the garbage they give you here. And even when you start falling in ranks you still get useless stuff like single green shells. Also red shells don't even home in any more properly and can lose their target/get destroyed by tricking it into a wall. I haven't even seen a lightning bolt or bullet bill (or is that one banzai? I can never remember) for the players. And the strongest power up is that goddamned ink from the freaking squid. It's even worse on multiplayer because the screen is so small anyway, you can't see anything at all. Edited by Orochi Kusanagi, Jun 2 2014, 02:14 AM.

I've always hated items. It is a kart arcade game so I can't complain to much, but it bothers me though how many times I get hit by green shells. The AI seems to have unnatural accuracy. I really don't like that holding an item for defense is no longer a used item and makes it impossible to collect a new item as backup. It makes defensive driving hard. Plus having coins as items is frustrating. I likely don't need coins if I'm in first and getting them leaves me defenseless. I wish Mario Kart would go back to when the blue shell was a rare item. I guarantee at least one will be used per race. The thing I hate most are the coins. It is an odd choice to make you collect coins to go faster, but take you out of the natural racing line. Kind of takes a bit of skill out of the game. Overall though the game is a lot of fun. The good so far outweighs the bad by quite a bit. |

Yes! I get coins regardless of my position in the race, so irritating. Almost always a coin or single green shell. I like the game a lot too, it's just that I can't say I like it more than some recent ones, like say the 3DS one which was fantastic IMO, thanks to some of the flaws. I do love the level designs though, music, and I love the cast. Koopa kids were always my favorite characters growing up. Edited by Orochi Kusanagi, Jun 2 2014, 02:17 AM.

Don't suppose any game ever made a track themed with the old flying log battleships from SMB3 did they? I always loved those things, but after SMB3, they seemingly never appeared in the franchise again.
It's a shame that after 2 decades, that there's still no main mode where you can play the game with the attack items disabled, and just have players play in a more pure skill based way. Especially now that the games feature a more prominent online multi-player, and the maps themselves use a certain amount of skill on their own. |

It was in DS and 3DS that stage. It's called "Airship Fortress" if you want to look it up on YT or something.
