Fabluous! And I'm liking the city down below. Now bring back Toads Turnpike and it'll be a must buy.

Though, I preferred the N64 music.

You want Toad's Turnpike in this game?

YOU WANT TOAD'S TURNPIKE IN THIS GAME?!

. . .

Well, here you go. It's part of the retro tracks:

I'm glad there seem to be a bunch of new ways for the AI to fuck you over on a whim. It was sorely lacking in options before.

Royal Raceway is also back from the N64 iteration. I would have preferred a different course, but Toad's Turnpike is cool enough.

I'm trying not to spoil myself when it comes to the other retro tracks, but it's hard not to.

I'm also hoping that you could set the second screen to the rear view mirror.

I'm finding Toad's Turnpike disappointing. It's main feature was that you're racing on city streets. Now it's all closed off and your view of said city is blocked off by walls and more walls.

It's sad that I always get more excited for the returning tracks then the new ones.

I never liked Toad's Turnpike that much. There was a similar course in Double Dash that I liked but because TT is from Mario Kart 64 which I detest I don't find it that memorable.

The new trailer does look amazing. I ain't even mad at all like everyone else is over lack of gamepad usage. It's a racing game, I didn't want it to do anything gimmicky with it. Just shove the map and current standings down there and call it a day.

This is the first Mario Kart game I've been hyped for in a long time. 7 looked interesting and Wii was a very good game, but I can't say that my enthusiasm was through the roof like it is for this game.

It's the first time I can say i'm really excited for all of the new tracks and all of the new features.

There are seriously too many good video games coming out this year . . .

They need to be unlocked.

As does my dear Rosalina.

Best girl is best girl. Though I still don't get the name change. Changing it from the original Rosetta to Roselina makes no sense nor actually means anything so why? I thought Nintendo had stopped changing stuff from the real names back in the 90s. I don't think they even use King Koopa anywhere anymore, do they?

Plus IMO Rosetta is just easier to say.

Go back to Neptunia.

My copy of MK8 should be here early next week as I'm avoiding tax and shipping fees from getting it in store.

No that was actually a legit thought.

In the case of capcom and things like Phoenix right where they changed everything to western names and america, it's for the sake of a localization. But here, they changed it from a italian name to different yet similar sounding italian name?

long story short, the less syllables the better.

This game is so incredibly beautiful and the soundtrack is lovely. This game is currently rivaling Tropical Freeze for some of the best art design I have seen all year.

Also, I decide to give the game's highlight reel function and internal share function a try. Credit to Nintendo for including such an interesting idea:

-That feeling when you get the horn and hold onto it and when a blue shell comes in, you activate it to dispel it. Golden.

-I love the little attention to detail, such as tire drifting tracks remaining on the ground for the entirety of the race.

-I really like how driving in anti-gravity mode changes up the gameplay. Drifting has a lot less friction. And rather than bumping into another character hurting them, it gives you a boost if you do it. And it's the same thing if they bump into you. So you have to weigh whether or not getting close to them is a good idea. Though I wonder if that nerfs the bonuses for using a heavier character altogether on certain tracks.

-I love the amount of attention given to alternate pathways. And i'm not even talking abut secret paths as Mario Kart always had those. It never really had too many forking pathways before, but this game takes pride in creating quite a few of them.

Unlock Rosettina, then make vids. All day, every day. (Mainly Rainbow Road)

Unlocked Rosalina. That was much faster than what MK Wii required. I just uploaded a video of her riding the new ATV vehicle:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbG_I2PAS1A

I chose to upload Cloudtop Cruise since it's a veiled remix of Gutsy Garden Galaxy and around 0:53 breaks out into that song's chorus. I love how it's mandatory that it comes up at some point in every Mario game now. Also, it's Mario Galaxy's theme so it just goes along so well with Rosalina.

I really like how the highlight reels automatically hone in on any rivalries you build during the race, as that video shows off me and Roy Koopa constantly attacking one another.

Also, the ATV seems to be the opposite of bikes. Where bikes do inside drifting, ATVs tend to have a wider drifting curve. Both can be useful if you manage to master them properly.
