Our lovely friends at Kotaku have a rumor up about Arkham Origins featuring a multiplayer component (which has long been rumored for the Arkham franchise):

Though it's just a rumor, it's interesting to see names like Firefly and Deadshot (pleasepleaseplease) tossed around.

Firefly? Bah. It's all about the Killer Moth.

Hrm, the bomb in that trailer was in a Queen Industries box. Wonder if it's just a shout-out or if Ollie will be putting in an appearance.

That'd be pretty cool, actually. Here's hopin' it's not just a random reference!

Some semi-old news: Roger Craig Smith will be playing Batman. Troy Baker will be playing the Joker. Kevin Conroy is still involved, but there's no word yet on who he'll be. Joystiq speculates he could be narrating, and considering the prequel nature of the game, I could see that happening.

Note: the image featured in the article below will be used for the boxart.

I must admit that I'm kinda hoping the Joker is back in a limited capacity, and that Mr. Baker will spend the majority of this game portraying the original Red Hood.

That's sorta what I was hoping for. If they actually bother to go for the full Joker origin, then I don't mind them bringing him along again.

I am in agreement in that I don't want Joker dominating the entire game this time around.

I think what would be cool is that since the game is about eight assassins on Christmas Eve all gunning for the Bat that Joker would end up being the final person to make an attempt on Batman's life. Since the game seems to be confined to one day, maybe we'll see the Red Hood in flashbacks and throughout the game we'll discover things from "The Man Who Laughs": a factory filled with corpses the Joker practiced on, various famous figures dying, etc. all leading up to the last portion of the game where Batman confronts Joker for the first time.

Hell, maybe they could work in aspects of Killing Joke...after all, in Arkham Asylum, they implied that it had already happened (Joker starting to tell the joke about the two asylum inmates, then saying "Wait, I already told you that one.")

I saw the trailer for this, and im completely excited about it. I loved Arkham City and to see Deathstroke as one of the Assassins was awesome.

Boxart for the Metroidvania-esque 3DS/Vita sidestory, Arkham Origins Blackgate, is out and about:

If people somehow missed it in the E3 scramble, PS3 is getting at least two exclusive costumes: AzBats and Adam West.

Imagine if they got West to record dialog for his costume. XD

That would make me buy this game on the PS3.

So, Troy Baker (the voice of the Joker for this game) did a little thing at NYCC this year.

The video title says it all. Skip to 2:10 for the actual monologue (there's about 2 minutes of fluff beforehand).

I just bought a copy. I probably won't be able to play until tomorrow, however.

I didn't pre-order it, but the Gamestop cashier was nice enough to give me all of the bonuses, anyway. Thanks random Gamestop guy!

Just beat the game. I'll post a full blown review later, but for now, I give you the post-game stinger:

Batman in Ninja Training DLC is out today and he plays very differently from Batman.

I'm pretty excited for this.

Turns out in the PC version you can use console commands to play as Deathstroke, Bruce Wayne, Red Hood, or Joker in Free Roam mode. I'm kinda surprised that they haven't found the code to let you use Robin yet, or the multiplayer versions of Bane and Joker.

Word is out that the story DLC that we were told about before the game came out is going to be a Mr. Freeze DLC based on the emmy award winning episode "Heart of Ice". Hackers noted that on the disc the title "Cold, Cold Night" was already pre-loaded (though not the entire DLC), so it seems like it's all coming together now:

They actually added a bunch of new gameplay elements from a new suit, thermal gloves (replacing the shock gloves), heat baterangs, and enemies who have freezing weaponry.

Revival bump. How was this in all? I'm mid-way in to Arkham City so I'm considering this but most reviews and people online say it was really bad and buggy.

I've yet to beat it, but I really enjoyed what I've played so far. The story is intriguing and it's really fun playing as newish Batman establishing all the rivalries that power the games moving forward (Enigma, you crazy crazy guy). City traversal is friggin' fun as well, and who doesn't want to drop in on the Batcave and shoot the breeze with Alfred at random?

For context, I stopped playing Arkham Knight for a bit to play it and make sure I wasn't missing any references and I didn't regret it at all.

This is not to say I didn't experience any issues, however. I've had (PS3 version) a lockup or two, and there was one time when I beat the crap out of so many thugs that all their bodies left laying on the map killed the framerate, haha (it had to have dropped into the teens). Still, I would still recommend it.

The Good:
-The one new gadget was really nice and it was good that they limited the ammo since it would have been broken otherwise.
-The main portion of the story featuring its two main villains is better than Arkham Asylum and Knight. They handle one of the villains the games share much better here than its predecessors. They way they do the buildup and reveal is pretty memorable. As for the second main villain, he's simply well written and provides some good boss fights, including the final one. They combine his famous comic book storyline with elements from his appearance in a Nolan film to great effect.
-On that note, the game has some really good boss battles.
-Top notch voice acting.
-Excellent DLC featuring Mr. Freeze and a new batsuit that has some cool abilities. I personally love using the heated batarangs to drop stalactites on people. The other downloadable stuff such as young Bruce Wayne in training challenge maps is cool, too.

The Bad:
-Wasted potential when it came to the 8 assassins trying to kill Batman. A LOT of wasted potential. It's especially bad since all of the advertisements made them seem like a big deal.
-Gotham City has no atmosphere which is a shame considering Asylum's creepiness and City's violent dinginess. It's blue and boring. Overall, its open world is only okay and doesn't add anything. The way they do the Edward Nigma "find and destroy" stuff is especially bad in my opinion. Also, the game decides to adopt Ubisoft-style tower visits in order to make everything you need on the map appear.
-Doesn't really add enough gameplay elements to justify its existence. It's like playing Arkham Knight with one extra gadget. This was the biggest complaint about the game: it felt like more of the same with nothing
new.
-The combat feels slower than City and for some reason doesn't feel as fun. Also, while it didn't bother me too much (after I got used to it), it is worth mentioning that there is no more attack cancelling to do a counter. You must time your his to make sure you are not attacking when someone from the side tries to hit you. This is one of those things that make more sense when you play the game.
-It's probably the glitchiest game in the franchise. I felt especially bad for those who had gamebreaking bugs as WB decided to stop trying to fix those problems in favor of working on the DLC.

Overall, it's a game with a good main story and voice acting vs. terrible use of its advertised premise and playing what sometimes feels like Arkham City all over again with less style and sometimes less speed.
