I'm enjoying the hell out of Charizard so far, if anyone's interested in him. Flare Drive hurts yourself for 9%-ish, but its base power is beyond what Pikachu and Luigi's max charge explosions do. Currently stacking speed buffs on him to make him even faster.

I'm really interested in that now. I got used to the Project M Charizard being one of my favorites, along with Bowser, Sheik and a few others, but trying another interpretation of him seems like it'll be fun.

Not terrible, I rebound normal attack to Y and jump to A. Switched off up for jump. Still, would prefer playing on a real controller (I'm still using the original 3DS). Maybe gets better with the new 3DS.

I'm slightly concerned about wearing out my Circle Pad; doesn't help that I've always used Up on analog to jump.

I'm really going to miss the C-stick. I don't even know how I'll do my aerials properly without that.

Select Culb Nintendo Platinum members can DL the 3DS demo starting today in NA. Non platinum peasants without tophats and monocles have to wait for the 19th.

I always used C stick for smash attacks too, but now that there are so many smashes that are better charged I don't think I'll miss it especially.

Gosh, I feel like the ugly duckling since I pretty much never used the C Stick for Smash.

Got an email with four codes for the demo! Wow, today's been really lucky for me!

It's useful for quick smashes, but easily replaceable for that. My problem is that previously I could input an aerial attack in one direction while moving my character in another by using the C-stick. I'm sure I'll get over it though. XD

Just got Kirbo's 3rd down B, stone gains a meteor effect but needs several seconds before it can be disengaged. Great suicide move though.

Kind of bummed they didn't even give her an Awakening cut-in. Oh well, it's not like I leave Smash Balls on anyway.

Has this already made the rounds in here?

Kinda weird, but OK.

The 3DS can be used as a Wii U controller for Super Smash Bros. Players can only do so if they own the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.

My usual copyrighted form of Nintendo hate aside, this is just stupid, and you people can't possibly disagree in this case.

I can understand the concept of being able to transfer a custom character between the handheld and console versions of the game, but I'm not sure why anyone would want to use the 3DS as a controller for the Wii U version of the game, short of just being used to playing the handheld version. :not sure:

Maybe the person who owns the WiiU doesn't have extra controlers.

Definitely not something I would do.

Getting used to the 3DS controls already takes some getting used to.

How do Little Mac & Greninja handle?

Neither are available in the demo, but I can tell you what little I know of either of them.

Little Mac is apparently too specialized, and his air game is non-existent.

Greninja is fast; I think like Shiek.

Little Mac does not have aerials to speak of, no. He's also disastrously weak against any characters with counters (Marth, Ike, sword mii), since once you get to the high power charges, a well timed counter will pretty much send Mac right off the screen (counter deals the same damage back, sometimes multiplied depending on the move). His recovery is also abysmal for that matter, HF and I played on the shitty Icarus stage where everything was broken. One slip and he lost a stock at 0% just being unable to recover more than 3 characters worth of height.

The fact that the 3DS version and WiiU versions can link alone makes me happy.

Also, got the demo myself. The game feels smooth and clean, and the art style shift towards "cel-shaded" Nintendo actually fits well. The 3D is... unnoticable, which is nether good nor bad. Returning characters Pikachu, Link, and Mario all play well. I've still not gotten used to the changes made to Mario from the last time, though.

I miss my whirling dervish that was Mario's down+b.

Megaman is delightfully fun, honestly. I dig how pretty much all of his attacks reference either Megaman 1 or 2 (plus the charge attack and slide), and I absolutely love Megaman's charged buster attack. Hell, I just love thrashing people as Megaman. He's probably going to be a main of mine, just because I can paly as Megaman in something that feels retro while being new.
Serious bonus points for using all of the classic sound effects for him, while keeping the Powered Up art style.

Villager is hard to decipher, mainly because he does not play like a character I enjoy using.

Link is still OP for me.

EDIT

I do not mind the lack of a c-stick, honestly. I really like the fact that the directional pad and A button now make for some more attack options, rather than a stick that I completely forgot to use in Melee and Brawl. I was actually able to dominate slightly better with Megaman (whose c-stick smashes seem to be more Robot Master weapons) with the d-pad and A button than I ever would with a stick.
And Link having more sword swings with a single button makes combat feel a ton more awesome.

Fuck yeah, Link.

Link still feels just as bad as he's always been to me. Don't like how Mega Man plays, and I haven't tried Villager.

I just played Mario and used the demo to get a grasp of how to play the game on the 3DS. The results? I can get used to the Circle Pad, but I felt a slight wear at my thumb muscles last time I played.

I'm hoping that doesn't mean I'll be unable to play the 3DS version for an extended period of time; I'm hoping the D-Pad is an option in the final game. I might like that better.

@Orochi
They sent out emails yesterday to select Club Nintendo members who were Platinum the previous year. I still have two codes left, so I can give you one if you didn't get anything.
