Any other Nephenee fans here?
Nephenee is a great unit. Her, Ike and Boyd were my wrecking trio in Path of Radiance.

The character in MH3U that I've recorded almost 700 hours with is named and based off of Nephenee. What does that tell you?

I need to play MH3U more, and get something better than my Barroth Armor.

Which looks BITCHAN.

Seems legit, but Smash Wii U releasing on the same day as Pokemon ORAS is painful. I can't get around to playing Pokemon if I'm playing Smash!

If true, November 21st will be the day our wallets cried out as one, and then fell silent forever.

I'm wouldn't be surprised if that's the release date. Nintendo always released their big hits around that day.

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and and Mario 3D World which were two of Nintendo's best games last year came out on November 22nd.

I want a Captain Falcon-Little Mac bromance now.

I'm suddenly reminded of that old meme where pictures of two characters punching each other would be strung together and then the last one would have them being friends.

Has anyone else tried the Project M mod for Brawl? I just grabbed it myself, and I almost get the feeling I'll end up liking this mod more than the new Smash. They basically completely changed the way Brawl plays, increasing its speed back to Melee's levels and putting wavedashing back in. The latter doesn't affect me too much, because I suck, but the former is a huge move in the right direction.

They also re-balanced all the characters. Some of the top tier characters were just made more similar to their Melee versions, while others like Bowser were completely re-designed(he got super armor and higher damage/knock-back) to make them not suck. They played around a lot more with the newer characters though. Each of the Pokemon Trainers minions went rogue and got made into full characters each, and Ivysaur went from the least memorable to my favorite of the bunch. Lucario was redesigned to control similarly to a fighting game character, with attack chains and a hidden super meter that lets him use suped up versions of his specials. Everyone got some kind of new toys, and they're all more enjoyable to play as a result. They even brought back Mewtwo and Roy, and played with their movesets accordingly.

As for other new stuff, they included new stages, changed the menus and added more alternate costumes. I don't really know what they're planning on doing next, but you can check out some of what they've done so far on their website. The character section is probably the best to look at, since it lists a lot of the changes the characters went through and what's unique about each of them now.

They said that the latest Smash is faster than Brawl, but not as fast as Melee. That sounds reasonable enough, doesn't it?

It's reasonable enough for me.

While I do prefer Melee over Brawl for its faster gameplay and better mechanics, I'd be fine with something that's not quite as fast as Melee but removes stuff from Brawl. I don't expect something exactly the same as Melee.

Also, I don't play mods. Also, Roy sucks; I played his game, and he is terrible. He wasn't good in Melee either.

I'm not saying the new Smash will be bad, I'm really excited for it. I just really enjoy what Project M has done; it's made some of the less useful characters into much more interesting options. Characters like Bowser, with his super armor, and Zelda, with her new zoning options, will really never be this good in any traditional Smash release. And the fact that it's free, and runs on an unmodded Wii so long as you have a big enough SD card to fit it on, is just icing on the cake.

I'll have to check it out. I thought Brawl was pretty bad in the gameplay department compared to Melee.

I would, but they don't have a release for PAL region games :(

That does make it difficult. Then again, I'm just emulating it anyway because my Wii doesn't work any more, so that might be an option for you. XD

If anyone is interested, they're streaming Smash which is being played at the San Diego Comic Con on the Nintendo YouTube channel.

The 3DS version looks good. It doesn't look like controls will be an issue.

It will be nice stopgap for the wait leading to the Wii U version.

In other things, I like how Captain Falcon looks this time. I do wonder if The Knee will still be as powerful as it was back in the day. Seems to have lost its electricity aspect, judging by that screencap of Falcon demolishing Link's spine with The Knee.

I tried Project M, it's great. Way better than Brawl+ which still sucked IMO. I like how they added characters too, and have cool alts like Mewtwo with the mecha movie costume.

My favorite Project M costume was the demonic armor for Metaknight. Even though I don't particularly like Metaknight. Anyway, I actually got a couple friends a spent an evening playing Project M with actual humans. We all really liked it, and were talking about how nostalgic it was to be excited enough to all be playing Smash again.

Bowser is downright dangerous now, I loved the power and armor behind his attacks. I quickly figured out which ones were safe, and relying on those to initiate I was able to set up some pretty deadly combos. Shiek's still my main, but she's not nearly as good outside of 1 v 1, so I didn't so as well with her . . . but Zelda was really fun to swap to. I swear, one match I was Zelda, and my other buddy was Snake, so our third friend had to avoid mines, C4, grenade, and my three zoning fireballs CONSTANTLY just to close with any of us. It was hilarious. I won the one match I mained Zelda for too, so she's definitely much better than she used to be.

I fooled around with a lot of other characters too. One of my buddies was deadly with the new Mewtwo, and we all got a lot of fun out of Lucario's moveset. One of my friend's won a couple local Brawl tourneys with Ike back when the game first came out, and he was really impressed with how much quicker and harder to predict his favorite character is now. Those are most of the specific impressions I remember, although we did fool around with some other characters here and there. I had a lot of success with Charizard, Ivysaur and Squirtle in particular, but only played 1-2 games with each of them.

We'll probably keep playing Project M until the 3DS game comes out, then swap over to that for a while. And one of us has a WiiU, so then we'll go to his place at the end of the year when that one comes out. We've got a solid half a year of Smash ahead of us, so it's pretty exciting actually. I feel like a kid again when I play there games; it always brings me back to my early teens, when I would jump excitedly on a trampoline playing the first game against a team of 3 9-difficulty Pikachus for an hour or two just to train for when I had friends together for a real match.

How can you play Smash while jumping on a trampoline? That sounds like it would be difficult.

It wasn't a giant one, it was pretty small. Just big enough for one person to jump straight up and down on, I think it was meant to be an exercise tool and not a toy. But, well, I used it for fun and set it up in front of our downstairs TV. It wasn't too difficult. I probably wasn't jumping constantly every time I played, sometimes I just sat on the thing, but if shit was getting real I'd usually stand up and jump away my anxiety.
