Worst use of resources ever. Who the fuck plays action games on smartphones? Shitty controls, shitty battery life as collateral, shitty resolution.

I don't think any of us did, Ovan.

Even on the iPad the game stutters (even with just running on-screen). Given the distribution of the controls on it, it's not something suction D-pads/joysticks can fix.

I didn't even know about the atrocious port until you linked that crap. This just confirms the new game will be shit too.

@ ZH: I haven't confirmed this when I actually played it, but I think the weapons (of all things) are unlocked by money.

Edit: There we go

May just go to show the budget Capcom execs have for this series these days, with their falling-out with Inafking and all.

You know, I'm not even angry anymore. I'm just confused. I really am. It's like they don't know what good press is anymore or how to even pretend to care about a fanbase anymore. I mean, even that would be enough to have this whole thing blow over.

Does some CEO resent Megaman and/or Inafune or something? Or do they just not care? Bad decision after bad decision come out, and they defend it each time and tell everyone to fuck off and that anyone who gives them any sass is just a retarded fanboy.

I mean, COME ON! Look at this game. Look at this game. The concept is bad enough. But look at the graphics. The most effort went into drawing the promotional picture and that's it. I've honestly seen sprite comics that looked better. Do they not think no one is going to not recognize those are the same sprites from Megaman X?
I mean, what's the excuse going to be "WE DIDN'T KNOW WHICH MEGAMAN FANBASE TO PLEASE, SO WE DID THIS INSTEAD HERP A DERP"
How about just making...a GOOD Megaman game? It doesn't matter what series, as long as it's good.

But no. Cancel all of Megaman's games. And then come out with this thing. An completely effortless soulless Social RPG. Not even the story has any effort put into it
THIS IS A UNIVERSE WERE X SERIES ARE ALL TOGETHER. X MAIN CHARACTERS ARE TRAPPED BY X BADGUY(S) CREATE FACELESS FACADE TO SAVE THEM. COLLECT ABILITIES FROM X(s) CARDS
Then we have autoplay and skipping bosses to take it over the edge

And really, the situation is either the Iron Maiden or the Guillotine .
If it suceeds, they'll say WELL THIS IS THE WAY TO TAKE MEGAMAN NOW.
If it fails, someone will be like WELL, NO ONE TAKES TO MEGAMAN ANYMORE, HE NEEDS TO BE RETIRED. DON'T WORRY, WE'LL HAVE TRONE BONNE IN VARIOUS FIGHTERS, WE'LL REMEMBER HIM, GUYS.
It couldn't possibly be that you just made a really bad game.

You know, I wouldn't mind if they decided that Megaman had to be closed down for whatever reason. But like this? Like this disgrace?
Someone really doesn't like Megaman, or they're off their meds.

I'd rather they just not say anything more about Megaman than remove all doubt that they just hate him now.
It's really disheartening.

Shit, I didn't even see the Autoplay feature the first time round. Seems like they missed the memo it's an action game... then again, the controls would be so shit the feature might actually be necessary.

While this entire thin reeks of stupidity and I will not give in, it's not a mystery as to why these games are coming out. It's not some conspiracy or anti-Mega Man campaign, it's simply supply and demand. More and more people are playing games on their phones and tablets, and if you count the amount of people who play on these devices casually rather than buy expensive game systems. I go on the train and bus all the time and see people who play these kinds of things even though they may never bother to buy a video game system. These games are soulless, but they help pass the time, especially when you are in a city that has public transportation. To not make these kinds of games would be missing out on a huge amount of people who like these kinds of things, soulless as these games are.

I'll never support these kinds of games, but there's no point in not facing reality which is that if you compare to the amount of people which is that console-only games are the minority, while mobile and mobile and console gamers are the majority. It's not evil masterminds, conspiracy, this or that, but the fact is that there is a huge demand for these kinds of things.

As for why Capcom doesn't make a good Megaman game when there is a ton of potential? Well, on that note, it just doesn't seem like they know what they are doing anymore.

I would like to use this chance to bring this up; research done was my own from mid-2011 when I had a chance to talk to a few ex-Capcom employees who worked in development:

Unlike game companies which do everything (from development to marketing) to the point the game is sold in stores/digitally (e.g. Bandai Namco, Konami), Capcom is split into two distinct hierarchies: Development & Finances.

Because both of these departments likely have little contact with when it comes to gaining experience for both sides to achieve what we simplify as 'making games', chances are that the ones making the financial planning only come in contact with numbers without actually knowing the community well enough. They mentioned that even before they left, there has been much conflict with the higher-ups to see things the gamers' and developers' way. Given how Inafune has a reputation for clashing with the higher-ups when it comes to idea pitching (e.g. Dead Rising), it is not difficult to see why things have been going downhill for one of our favorite platformer series. As much as the developers probably wanted to make games our generation will pay big money and love for, they are ultimately the victims to "The Golden Rule" of software development.

In the case of statistics reliance (and ease of deception) to make decisions, it is easy to understand why they (Capcom Execs) went the iOS direction; simply because 'the numbers added up', despite how out-of-context it has become due to overgeneralization with a near-certain lack of inner knowledge to what made the games good in the first place. And in this case, making smartphone games is certainly much cheaper than developing for specialized hardware/consoles.

For the same reasons, other game companies are making a transition towards social games aren't they? However, a good number of them played it safe by making sure these social/casual games are not major turning-points for an existing series (e.g. Metal Gear Solid Touch was clearly marketed as a side game); clearly unlike what Capcom has announced for Rockman's 25th Anniversary, no less.

Huh, that's a terrible business model then. There's nothing sinister about it . . . it's just a really bad model, especially compared to other companies, hence why certain other companies tend to "get it" faster when change is necessary.

That also explains why Capcom has been so out of touch in recent years.

If you notice the backgrounds, they repeat THREE times in just a single shot

That's just sad, even by Rockman standard.

Kalinka's updated design at least came out cute though.

Oh that one was actually ok "overall". The fur fits the dog stuff. But having it normally? Just looks trying way too hard to be hipster.
