Yeah, there's that.

I don't want to start over but I guess I could use the same seed and create an "Earth One" type scenario since I know one area of my original world so well. I could even try some new things and of course make different structures.

The newest patch is out! It finally makes the 360 version closer to the PC version. New stuff include hunger, more food, npc villages, abandoned mineshafts and other things!

I'm on minecraft right now so if you guys want to join me, just hit me up on there! You guys would like our new world

Wow, does anyone on here still play the game? It would make the game more exciting if we had a junk guild meet up on minecraft on the 360.

Like Amuro, I have the PC version. So kinda hard to meet up on the 360 version.

Knee deep in Borderlands 2 right now. But the one time I did think to play Minecraft while you and Replied were on, I couldn't join the game. Still haven't updated the game so maybe that's why.

AARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH

"Throw" should NOT be located next to WASD! I just threw an Iron Sword of Sharpness II into lava because a goddamn Enderman made me panic!

So I picked up Feed the Beast yesterday. I'd been using Tekkit, but my brother said that the guys behind it were assholes who took other peoples' mods without asking, then solicited donations.

So far, FTB is VERY expansive, but unlike Tekkit it doesn't feel as overwhelming; mainly that seems to be because the add-ons are more in the vein of things like berry bushes and new trees, rather than jetpacks, lasers, and nuclear reactors. That said, nuclear reactors are still obviously in, since I've found two chunks of Uranium so far.

Decided to switch the game to Peaceful and just wander for a while. Saw a gigantic tower in the distance, said "Jesus Christ, what IS that?!", and ran straight for it. Turns out, it's a goddamn Redwood - the things grow 7x7 at the base and go higher than most mountains. For that matter, the bark and heartwood are separate and distinct varieties of wood. You can even use one to craft a "hidden" door that looks exactly like the untouched wood, should you desire to live in a tree.

(Oh, and in response to my last post, I re-mapped Throw to P just to get it far out of the way.)

So last week there was a major update to the PC version. The biggest change is the addition of 11 new biomes and a new terrain generator that greatly varies things up. They also put in several new types of flowers and fish (which let you choose what type of cat you get when you tame an ocelot), as well as stained glass and hardened clay.

PS3 version is officially out tomorrow.

So...what are the major missing components of the console versions compared to the PC one?

At least in regards to the 360, it's a few updates behind the PC version. I couldn't give you a concrete list because I don't know exactly what the 360 version has.

The 360 version is pretty far behind. Last time I played Minecraft, they had just added Golems.

I might get it if it's cheap. I always wanted to build some giant floating sky castle or some crazy crap like that.

Just make sure you pick the mode most appropriate for you.

In Survival you have to deal with monsters, gather your own materials, manage hunger, etc.

Creative gives you access to all the materials and basically lets you go wild.

Both are perfectly viable, as well. I like messing around in creative before going around in survival, personally.

I should just have a survival map someday, though.

Hah. Apparently the 360 version only got a couple of pts out of it, like any normal Arcade title. But the updated PS3 version has a full trophy list and plat.

So in the end, was anyone thinking about getting the PS3 version? Kinda want to mess around with both modes.

Also build a giant blocky Vita.

I got the PC version, so there's really no reason to get the PS3 one.

Rumors are swirling heavily that Microsoft is going to purchase Mojang/Minecraft for $2.5 Billion on Monday.

It's up in the air what'll happen, but most doubt the deal will go through. Partly due to the fact that the Windows phone market is total crap and tiny, they they can make far more money over time via PS3/PSVita/PS4/PC/Apple products/general smart phones, etc. It'd be like Rockstar saying the Next GTA game will be only for one single console, the one with the smallest user base of them all.

And Mojang as a company is one thing, but it's not like they'll get the actual rights to Minecraft itself. At least they shouldn't entirely. Sony still has legel contracts/licenses that can't be broken until they expire, just because MS buys the parent company. As does 4J Studios, the people handling the console ports.

A similar situation happened when that one company, I forgot whom bought ATLUS. Even though they owned everything now, Ark System Works still legally owned the rights to the Persona Arena franchise.

Minecraft gets good sales on PS3 in Japan IIRC. So, there's definitely value in making sure Minecraft is available on Sony platforms on well; they wouldn't want to lose that kind of market.

Actually, the word is that Microsoft would buy the company, but would let Minecraft keep printing money on all the consoles it already is on... and would keep making more ports. It is basically the new Tetris.

I mean, hell. Microsoft let Rare produce a few more games for the GBA after they bought them out. No one remembers them because, well, GBA. But still.

...also, I would buy the hell out of a 3DS port.
