I've read at some point they block progression until you hit HR7. I haven't reached it myself yet so I don't know when or if it's true.

Some Caravan quests wont appear until you get to a certain HR, but it should affect the missions\story quests in Single Player...

That's probably what it is.

Just hit Caravan 9. Enraged Seregios is a goddamn psychopath. First monster so far that's made me almost entirely back off when enraged because I found little to no opening.

Still in 8* Caravan. Diverged from main singleplayer progression to go Sand Whale and Lightning Unicorn hunting.

About 1/4th through 10* caravan but trying to hit G rank now online. I want to farm some Enduring Charms there and see what I can do with them until I'm able to farm the ridiculous guild quest charms without getting blown to smithereens.

To be utterly fair, I *DO* have a Vita and between the whole Persona Franchise (Well almost the whole if we want to take into account Pwersona q_q as well...), Ragnarock Odyssey and ACE, Disgaea 2 and 4, Toukiden and Kiwami, Child of Light, plus many other games that are still to be ported like God Eaters 2 and other that my fever is missing me to remember, then I fairly believe that the Sony one is the winning handheld in my book...

I got the 3DS literally only for my guilty pleasure of Monster Hunter and playing with Yoshi and other friends...

Oh I know. Vita IMO definitely has the much better variety and library games that aren't first party rehashes. Not to say that 3DS doesn't have it's own fair share of good third party titles. (Well, just this really) I was just bored and angry at you people having fun with fun things!

And I love my Vita as well. I'm far happier with it and it's library of games then I ever was with my old DSi.

But Vita doesn't have Monster Hunter. *runs*

2000 hours in 3G+4+4G makes the purchase worth it, honestly.

Doesn't have the original game, but has plenty of its derivate games...

Also, blame on Capcom to drop the ball on the Portable series...

Because I'd love to point out that it took 6 year for them to top the 81 monsters present in FU. And considered that Portable 3rd, as a base release, had 60 monsters vs the 35 of Tri we can keep asking what made Capcom give up on the Sony market.

As you said, makes the purchase worthy for a fan of the series, which is something that says much about how successful and well developed is the franchise...

(That if you learn to deal with the 'Piscine Wyvern Rule'...)

Something that I follow: NEVER buy a "First Version" of a Capcom game. There will always be a better version that appears later with double the character selection.

Well with Crapcom they tend to give you the option to simpy upgrade to the newer version.

Now ArkSystem works, They're the ones who'll release the same game 2-5 times a year before finally actually coming out with a legit sequel 6 years later.

What? When do they ever to that? As far I know, you have to buy the updated game (with a G or Arcade Edition or whatever slapped to the name) in full to get the new stuff.

Super Street Fighter (n) Ultimate Champions of Valhalla Legendary Edition anyone?

But I have to admit that in certain cases, where you get the chance to port saves, it may be a more convenient way to sell a product rather than throwing out a DLC...

On the other hand, BLIZZARD!

Finished sidequesting and beat up Seregios last night.

Aside from the whole bleeding status effect and his tendency to stay in Area 10, he really isn't that bad.

I found that with Seregios you don't find the openings, you make them. Where Rathalos is high and out of reach while flying, Seregios tends to hover low to the ground. You hit him. A lot. As soon as he flinches, he drops like a sack of potatoes. Then you go to his face or tail and hit him more.

Taking available equipment at the time of the fight into account, I found Shaggy Magala to be more challenging.

Serious question: it's worth to try and go for the Monoblos Heart so to make myself the Mono Armor?

Because in 6 runs I had to get his horns, he dropped none...

Seregios got better after the first hunt with him. I still find him to be a maniac when enraged but not on the level as before. I never really had an issue with Shaggy.

High Rank Monoblos Armor? You can but I don't recommend going too crazy over HR armor when you'll be upgrading to G soon enough. Right now I'm just wearing LR Diablos with Focus gemmed in.

Right now I'm wearing an HR Jaggi one, gemmed to get that ATK bonus to L...

I sorta want something tanky, since both my playstyle and these controls end up with me taking a lot of hits...

So are more people playing this or a Pokemon version in terms of longevity around here? basically wondering which I should buy in to to play with bros on the 3DS or something.

Probably this. I know I play online MH more than I battle online in Pokemon.

This seems more fun to play online where as Pokemons it's douche bags banning things, using OP things, or EV stat BS.

VGC's only rule I believe is it has to be caught within the current Gen. But it's not even that really. MH is just a much more fun multiplayer experience. I just wish they didn't disable chat during hunts to presets only.
