A demo for Final Fantasy Type-0, called "Natsubi", is coming to the Japanese PSN and the game's official website on August 11th. Much like Dissidia Duodecim Prologus, DLing the demo will net you unlockable content in the release version of Type-0 (the content will be "Summer clothing"- not street clothes, but warm weather versions of the school uniforms worn by the characters in the game). Unlike Prologus however, this demo will be free. Andriasang also linked to a Famitsu.com video of the demo as it has been shown at a preview event in Odaiba. The home release of the demo will be different from this public demo in some way, though S-E hasn't yet stated exactly how. I'll probably check it out, too... but is it considered a spinoff, or a prequel? |

I recognize no one off the top of my head, but I'm bad with VA names. On the other hand, though, Eight uses Blitz tech. I'm sold. |

The only VAs that jumped out at me originally were Kenichi Suzumura (Shinn Asuka) and Daisuke Ono (Barret, from the ill fated Mega Man Legends 3). But now that I see some of the others listed, I can certainly understand the hype! |

You're right on the first count and... well, I just didn't give a shit over "Liu Bei's Worship Hour #34 - this time with Gundams!". That's just me, though. That said, still an awesome voice cast. |

Rem Roll Dodges & Panties General I downloaded the demo but can't understand shit, so I'll be waiting on a walkthrough of some sort. Have the opening though; you can hear voices and stuff with the character names. [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCHc_D7rs-E[/utube] Edited by Akito10, Aug 11 2011, 01:09 PM.

Additional helpful details - The guide is wrong; the equip screen is NOT useless. Although you can't change your weapons, there are accessories available for sale you can replace their starting equipment with, and you can change all of your defensive and offensive abilities. Each character(except Rem) only has one special attack, but you can change spells or even replace abilities you don't care for with spells. So anyone can have Cure/Wall/Defend as their defensive ability, and Fire Rifle, Fire Missile 2, Thunder Shotgun, Thunder Missile, Blizzard Bomb and Blizzard Rocket. Details that I've noticed below - -Rifles are your quick-cast pokes. They have decent damage, but they're best used to punishing crit chances at range with melee characters. -Shotguns seems somewhat useless, but is fast and can be used in place of a slow melee for close-range crit chances. It's a spread shot, as you'd imagine, but isn't very powerful. -Missiles are charge spells; they don't go off unless you hold down the button to power it up. The fire variant moves very slowly, while the Thunder variant stands still for a moment before blasting off with lightning speed(haha, see what I did there?) -The Rocket is my favorite; It's a first-person aimed weapon, so you need a moment to stand still and charge/aim to use it . . . but it does probably the highest damage of all the spells. Besides, killing with ice freezes enemies, and looks awesome. -Cure is obvious, but Wall does what it sounds like; it makes a wall that can absorb several ranged attacks before crumbling. You can move and fire through it, while enemies can only move through it. Use it to protect yourself from far away enemies while focusing on those that are close by. They also left out a lot of character details, that I'll go into. Rem - She's the mage of the group . . . the red mage to be specific. At level 13, with base equipment, she has 300 mp more than the closest other character, and several of the abilities you can buy into allow you to cancel a melee attack into a spell. Since she has to buy most of her unique abilities, I'll list the important ones below. ツインマジック – Allows you to double-cast spells. Already known at start. 魔法キャンセル壱型 – Available later on, I think it was for 10 AP. Allows you to cancel a normal attack into a spell. 弱フィニッシュ - “Weak Finisher”, basically. Once you buy this, if you press Down + Triangle during a melee attack you'll cancel out and do a quick finishing blow. It's VERY weak, so it's really only used to cancel out of an attack to dodge/block. 魔法キャンセル弐型 - Allows you to cancel your weak finisher into a spell. Costs 12 AP. 強フィニッシュ – “Strong Finisher” does what it sounds like; it's a slower, but much more damaging finisher to your melee combo activated by pressing Up + Triangle during your attacks. I've found it often gives human soldiers just enough time to leave hit stun and open up a crit chance for you to nail them with. Queen - A support character, for the most part. Pressing Up + Triangle in her combo causes her to jump up and dive attack the enemy, while pressing Down + Triangle causes her to flip away. Holding triangle in that attack can also allow her to do an “energy burst” attack after landing. Her ability, Cross Jammer, can also be upgraded to take/give more HP and cost less AP, but otherwise does what's listed on the other site. Nine - The high hp/heavy hitter, his Up + Triangle finisher has him dash forward for a multi-hit spin attack, while his Down + Triangle allows for an alternate melee combo that has wide, sweeping attack. His magic damage sucks though. Ace - A unique ranged character, it should be noted you can tell what his “Deck Open” ability will do by the color of his card. Yellow is MP, Black is an ice attack, Blue is HP, while Red seems to be a fire attack. You can combine up to four cards, while seem to empower the fourth effect. You can buy an Up + Triangle attack combo that gives him a melee option, and his Down + Triangle is a charge attack; you build up a maximum of 5 cards which, when released fire like funnels down onto the ground in front of you. Sice - Ridiculously powerful, but with slow, sweeping attacks. She seems to be the highest damage physical attacks, thanks to an ability that increases her damage as she nets kills. Her Up + Triangle finisher is a rushing jump attack that propels her far forward; if you accidentally use it in a combo, you'll probably miss your target if it was unintentional. King - The guide doesn't mention this, but King's guns are fast. Getting crits, even at a distance, is easy as pie, and if it weren't for his reload it would easily make him the best character in my mind. His reload speed can be upgraded with AP, his clip capacity can also be upgraded to 18, and he can reload automatically with Down + Triangle. You can also buy a melee kick that is activated with Up + Triangle. His damage goes up at close range, and goes down in poor weather(such as the final demo mission). Machina - The best physical attacker, stat-wise, although Sice still wins with her ability. Not much unique about him except his Spin Drive, the drill portion of which can be extended by holding the button down. |

Debating if I want to import this. I'm trying not to buy things this holiday season, but this, Extreme Vs. and new Zelda w/motion plus all seem pretty tempting. |

Zechs, you made me use Google to find out that there is some actual news about interest in a Western release of this game by the development staff. Shame it's not an outright announcement, but it's good to see that someone in the company is thinking about it. Here's hoping they follow through; the New Game + content looked really interesting, but I didn't want to dive in for round two of the game in Japanese. I've been both confused and disappointed today. I get excited to hear that Type-0 is coming out only to find out that Agito is a new game and this isn't referencing the game many people still call Agito. Then I come to find out that the new Agito is in fact a cell phone game and that the Agito I've been wanting to play is still not coming out and all that's be said on a stateside release is the same as we've always heard. |
