So. Remember those screenshots of a live-action Gundam game, from long long ago in the day of FMV games? Well, there was an English version. And it's been popped up to Youtube. Video 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiTosK80Wfk In which random guy stumbles across GUNDAM and pilots the Gundam against some Zaks from the Principality of John. For John. Video 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzb16ug6Kyw In which, Captain Noah Bright, last Commanding Officer.......... on White Base, a Pegasus........................... Class Ship offers you pilot wings to keep on the White Base. Also, Duke Hos-aaaaay and Kai Shiden offer to help you out and give you a tour. Let's see if I can pull up an image of them... Posted Image Duke is on our left, while Kai is on the right. Yeah. And then you fight against Char again. For John. As a bonus, you get some awesome death videos as well. Video 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwWxxY0IILE In which the White Base hides within a pyramid in the S-3 area. Which is now Las Vegas. And goes out in the Gundamtank to defend against the Thor Cannon. And Garma leads an attack. For John. Video 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ATzU_blOQk In which we start off with Garma dying, FOR JOOOOOOOOOOOHN! Char attacks once again, and our game ends with Ghiren giving his speech for Garma. Again, bonus endings for deaths ahoy! |

I'm more surprised by Char prattling on about the Zeonic cause with genuine concern than any of the many, many laughable moments. Did the localization team think he would be a more compelling character if he got butthurt about the righteousness of Zeon's cause while he fights you? I have to wonder why they decided to pronounce Zeon's name that way. I'm guessing they wanted it to sound foreign and exotic to indicate that it isn't of Earthly origin, but Frenching it up as "Jean" doesn't help. French is an Earth language, after all. And it really doesn't help when the actors forget to put an accent on it and just shout "JOHN!" all the time. |

Well, several early romanizations for Gundam listed the faction as "Jion" instead of "Zeon", so it probably came from that. |

Hell, the English version (which amusingly came first and was then dubbed into Japanese with the original MSG cast) might have even been based off of the MSG novels that were released before this - where we did have Jion and Zaks. Still, this is awesome stuff. And we must carry on remembering this stuff. For John. |
