as a matter of fact the Mk-2 version of Beginning Gundam is confirmed as well as that Gunpla Meister's unit too IMO if that were a real Game Simulator people would Flock back to the Arcade to try it out (model builders anyways) you get to feel what it would be to be a M.S Pilot of sorts with your favorite kit (Bandai wise) |

And here I thought that the Beginning Gundam couldn't get more ridiculously stupid-looking. I like how it's BEAM SABERS, BEAM SABERS EVERYWHERE, though. |

Oh, and now the compilation version of this 45-minute commercial now has English subs. Downloading from /m/ right now (and finding the episode in 720p), but it sounds like the creators randomly went DEEP and SRSBUSNES with the show. |

Alright, I just saw the first episode of this and I have to say . . . I actually really enjoyed it. -Firstly, it had some of the elements that made Initial D great. In America and you see a car race, you get that "Fast and the Furious Feeling". When Japan does it? It's this really serious, samurai battle, honor code bound, battle with much commentary. It was the same thing here. Granted, this did it no where near as well as Initial D, but it was still fun. Not to mention, it's what you expect from an anime where all the characters are otaku and fanboys. You totally expect them to act that way. -Second, come on, that is TOTALLY how someone would act with a funnel Mobile Suit in a online game. Are you telling me that someone totally wouldn't be cheap and spam his funnels that way? At thel east, I completely admit to spamming my funnels In Gundam Musou 2 a whole lot. And since we're talking about things that people would totally do, I can't see the complaining about the recolors. If there was a good Gundam online game that allowed you to pick a Mobile Suit and recolor it any way you want, people would totally buy into it. Personally, it just makes sense to me. -Thirdly, let's see this wasn't a giant uber commercial and they thought of this idea from scratch and made, let's say, an Armored Core anime done like this. It would still have the whole Japanese culture cliches in it like this did. "You didn't build your gunpla?! YOU DESERVE TO LOSE FOR YOUR DISHONOR ON YOURSELF!" "Putting your soul into enjoying gunpla is what gunpla is all about!" "His stats are lower? Bah, that totally doesn't matter!" Whether we admit it or not, we totally watch anime for this kind of thing, it resonates with us on some level. Again, some anime do it at higher quality levels (ie. Gurren Lagann, GaoGaiGar, etc.), but considering this is basically an otaku anime, it totally fits seamlessly for me. If they made this with a high quality story and high quality storytelling, I would totally buy into 26 episodes. |
