All the dungeon sets are 70 exotics, so they'll be better than any 80 greens but it's mainly for looks. Once you get 78+ exos it's all up to preference. The other reason for grinding dungeon sets would be for the runes. |

I've also heard there are drops related to Legendary crafting that can only be obtained from specific dungeons. |

Welp. Just finished my Thief's personal story. Now to figure out what endgame set to wear because the Arah set isn't exactly nice looking, no one grinds for the Inquest set, and I heard from a friend they nerfed farming in Explore mode. |

I just hit 80 and got my first set of Level 80 Greens . . . and a Rare Rifle for some extra kick. Gonna get my Leatherworking up that extra 25 points and build up exotics next, while finishing off my personal storyline. I'm glad I wont be swapping out equipment the way I was before though, since I can't outlevel it now. Not that I've updated my armor I should be ready for dungeons this week too, so I'll probably finally contact you about that some time soon. As for farming, yeah, they did implement a system so they could try to get people to play more of the content. I think they were trying to avoid a situation where no one ran anything other than one explorable path per dungeon, so people who wanted to see other paths wouldn't be left in the lurch without a group. In any case, you only lose rewards if you: -Run the same dungeon route twice in a row. You get diminishing returns for each repeat, but going back and forth between the same two routes will not penalize you. -Running more than one dungeon run each half hour. If your group moves too fast, you'll start losing rewards for it. -They also put diminishing returns on story modes, supposedly to prevent people from farming them. I think this is the worst of the three decisions though, since it might make it harder for players to find story mode groups, which will lock players out of explorable mode content as well. They also buffed CoF to make it much harder, from what I hear, which is what people are raging about more than anything. Frankly I'm not terribly offended, and like the idea of keeping things fresh with multiple routes over repeating the same content over and over to gather coins. |

Grats on the 80, Zeta. I have Leatherworking as well, but it's still in the very low levels because it was so I could make myself 8 slot bags, but apparently, some of my friends are telling me to level up Leatherworking so can make better equipment to use or sell. What's a good way to level up Leatherworking, as in, what do I craft? And yeah, I heard about them making CoF Explore harder because everyone's speed running it. Doesn't help that that seems to be the only dungeon I see people farming while all the other dungeons aside from AC and CM are empty(that Inquest medium set...so nice). Also, I just realized that all Lv 80 exotic sets have the same stats. That makes it easier for me, since I can just decide on the look, maybe use my Fine Transmutation Stones on some pieces, and a Superior Rune set I can focus on. If only the Trading Post had a Preview function... Edited by Nova Zero, Sep 18 2012, 11:34 PM.

Crafting gives pretty much the best stats outside of dropped rares as you're leveling, and you can pick and choose the stats. Also gives awesome XP, so you'll likely build up a lot of skill points doing it. I must've gotten 10+ levels off crafting alone while I was leveling up. It also has a different armor skin for each 75 point increment, some of which are pretty darned cool. I loved the Tier 2 Leather armor myself, for instance, but each set has had its charms. Even if I never could talk myself out of transmuting my Engineer's starting mono-goggle with new stats from 1-79. Still need a fine transmutation stone so I can move it onto my 80 gear too. As for technique, it's simple once you get the rhythm for it. First tip is never, ever, ever level it by crafting known recipes. It's slow and a waste of resources. Instead you should prioritize crafting in the following order. --- At the start of each Tier (1-24, 75-99, etc) 1 : Craft all refinement materials you need. ALL of it, before doing anything else. You can make more later, but you can only get XP for it now. 2. Next make your crafting components in bulk. Maybe 2-3 of each piece is usually enough to push you almost past the initial 25-point range. I usually stop when their names turn light blue/white, as the XP isn't worth it any longer. 3. Create inscriptions. Every 25 points you unlock new inscriptions, which are the most expensive/hardest to gather part of crafting as their materials only drop as monster loot. If you're still in the first 25 points of your tier, only make one or two, as you shouldn't need much to bump up to your next set of inscriptions which'll give much better XP. Usually it'll take you maybe 8-9 inscriptions per tier to level up those 25 points, so try to plan for that and make the inscriptions first while you still get decent XP for them. 4. Discovery. This lets you combine items to make this, such as specialty packs, equipment and runes. You'll mainly use it for equipment, combining the crafting components from Step 2 with the inscriptions from Step 3. This is where you get most of your XP, as discovering a new recipe will basically double the xp earned from that recipe. You can only discover each recipe once though, so don't craft more than 6 of any inscription or you would have anything left to discover it with. Mid-tier (25-49, 100-124, etc) Repeat steps 3 and 4, making crafting components and refinement materials as necessary. That's it, really, it just uses a different set of materials for its inscriptions, and the inscriptions give different stats. Late-tier (50-74, 125-149, etc) Again, you're repeating steps 3 and 4, but now all the crafting ingredients from the early and mid tier ranges are available again, as are their stat layouts. You just need 8 of each material instead of 3 to make these new inscriptions, but they make green equipment instead of blue. This is usually where and how I updated my armor sets when I was leveling. --- You basically repeat that for each tier of armor, with the only difference being the dead man's land of 375-400. You can only really craft the same sets you were doing from 300-375 during that range, with the final set of equipment/materials only unlocking when you max it at 400, so it seems clear they want you to rely of discovery XP to get that done. I'm on that phase now, on Leatherworking at least. Huntsman I kind of ignored and left around 200, because it was too expensive to level up two crafting skills and Leatherworking was just waaaaay more useful between bags and six pieces of armor. Earns better money too. |

Thanks for getting us started on TA, Nova. Shame you had to drop out after the second fight, but I managed to pull in one of my friends from that guild I mentioned since their event was over. We cleared the rest of the dungeon pretty easily after that; I think they must've lowered the difficulty of the story finale, because it wasn't terribly difficult. We focused down Eir, ravaged the boss, then lost cohesion and split apart instead of following the plan and getting Zojja next. Most of us died since I was basically fighting Zojja along with my friend while the bosses teams up and took people out, but we didn't completely wipe, and by the time we got back Rytlock and Logan were both almost dead while Zojja was . . . well, she had over 50% of her life left. So plan failed, but mission accomplished, since we quickly dropped Rytlock and Logan, drove off the boss then destroyed Zojja with great aplomb. Was a lot of fun, and a pretty cool encounter. The two hardest bosses were definitely the funnest though. Cat-man's gimmick wasn't terribly fun and he dropped way too easily, and the fight boss was basically an overhyped normal mob. I loved dodging, immobilizing and chilling the spiders on the second boss though; they were a lot cooler than red circles. And as mentioned above, the mechanics of the finale were pretty bitching. Now that's one more dungeon down, five to go before I'm down with all the story modes. |

Wish I could have stayed longer but good to know you guys managed to finish it, Zeta. I'm surprised the final boss fight sounded easier than I last remember. I remember we had to focus fire on Mr. Sparkles first, then Zojja, then Eir, then Rytlock, then Logan. Still, it's good that everything went well. |

I caved in and joined your server, Nova. While I occasionally liked that my server was quiet, it made doing anything in the final zones near impossible because there were never enough people around to take care of business. If I can't open Arah, I can't even finish my personal story. =/ |

Welcome to Sea of Sorrows, Zeta. That's quite a problem. Yeah, sometimes I don't mind the quietness of it all, but this is Guild Wars 2; most of the time, the bigger events need a large group of people to accomplish and at the very least, you'll want someone to butt in while you're fighting a veteran mob. Also, the server needs help in WvW, but that's a different issue entirely. |

You should've seen mine. Devona's Rest was one of the two lowest pop servers around by a large margin, so in WvW the third server always had triple the manpower of both its competitors combined. It was laughable; there's no way to match up WvW properly when only two servers have low populations. |

Must be suffering to be in those 2 servers... Oh. New update. Highlights were fixing a bunch of stuff, including exploits in CoF. They now made it so that you get the tokens only when you win the whole dungeon(which is 20), but you get a bonus of 40 more tokens if you did that route the first time that day. Which means that you can get a total of 180 tokens if you finished all routes in that dungeon for that day. They also made the Ascalonian and Caudecus' Manor sets Lv. 80, as opposed to 60 and 70, respectively. Oh yeah and the tokens are account bound now. More info here: https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news/Update-Notes-September-25th-2012 Still waiting for the preview feature in the Trading Post, but I can live with these changes. The "just do 3 routes and you can afford a Lv 80 hat" is a good change, though. Probably better than farming one route multiple times. Edited by Nova Zero, Sep 25 2012, 12:45 AM.

Those are awesome changes. I think I'd want to get the Crucible of Eternity armor though . . . most of the armor sets look kind of stupid on an Asura, in my opinion, especially an Engineer. CoE, AC and CM are the only sets that I'd want to dress in. Maybe TA too. Priory and Cultural armor as also tempting though. Either way, I bet I'll have a full set of crafted armor before I come close to assembling any of that. As for weapon sets . . . I really don't think it matters too much, since I'll just be trying to craft a Legendary anyway. |

I love the looks of the Inquest Set myself, but no one runs that. Hoping more people will run the other dungeons now that you can get 180 tokens in just three runs. As for the weapons, I caved in and got a Molten Sword before they patched. I love the stats, but it doesn't look nice with my weapons. Was hoping to Fine Transmute it into a Glyphic Edge or something because I like how they look. And I just realized how cost-efficient it is to craft Mystic weapons. Spent only around 2g crafting a Mystic Pistol when it was being sold in the TP for 5g. I just need 30 more SP and I'll be able to make a second one. Edited by Nova Zero, Sep 25 2012, 02:28 AM.

Yeah, SPs are a valuable commodity. Especially since you need quite a bit of them for a Legendary. What is it, 200 plus however many you have to gamble to get your 77 Mystic Clovers? Not to mention however many you may have to spend to get a hold of Exotic weapons to throw in the forge, gambling for the prereq unique Exotic weapon. |

After I finish the last five Story modes I have left, I'd totally farm Crucible of Eternity with you for Inquisition equipment, if you want. We'd just need to be able to fill three other spots. I think I need 500 tokens from it for the Legendary Rifle anyway. |

That'd be great. I think I might know 3 people who can come with us, although now, I just seem to want the weapons instead of the whole set. Just tried Citadel of Flame route 1 a while ago(the captured engineer route). It's not really that bad, but the final boss is absolute bullshit. Spoiler: click to toggle

I bet have one person really heavily spec'd for condition damage is important there. I've heard it's hard though, and groups have been having a lot of trouble with it. I haven't heard much about CoE's bosses though. Any idea what we should expect there? |

From what I gather, people are saying that all 5 guys should be spec'd for condition damage and/or DPS. I can accomplish both since all my thief has to do is equip dual daggers(1st slot skill inflicts poison on the 3rd attack and the 5th slot skill causes Vulnerability, plus it grants stealth, making the 1st slot skill a stab that can deal 2x damage if you strike from the side or behind), Spider Venom(next 5 attacks causes poison), Skale Venom(next 3 attacks causes Weak and Vulnerability) and Avatar of Grenth(causes Chill and Poison). Sadly, the same could not be said for the rest of our group. Ironically, one of our Warriors wasn't spec'd for DPS and was on AoE, instead, and our Ranger could only poison. Not sure on the other Warrior and the Necromancer that came with us, but we gave up when the Necro ragequitted. As for CoE, I honesltly have no clue what to expect there, as I've never ran it, nor have I heard people run it. The official GW2 Wiki doesn't say much, either. Everyone speccing for DPS is an awful idea. Any more than two people is too many, you're just wasting damage. You only get one tick of burning, poison and bleeding each, and two people can easily keep up all three with max bleeding stacks as well. If everyone else does the same, yeah, your durations will stack to the point of lunacy, but it wont do more damage so they're basically wasting their time. Wonder if you guys had the same problem? |
