Game is out for those who pre-ordered. I'm getting mine on release day(Aug 28). I'm going to Sea of Sorrows for my server.

Mine is now ZetaStriker.9142 now that I've added my Collector's Edition serial code. I'm currently running around as an Asuran Engineer around level 18~ish, although I can't remember what server I'm on quite yet. I'll probably end up changing it soon anyway. Mostly doing PvE stuff now, but I'm certainly down for PvP if anyone wants in on that.

Oh wow, DAT Fire Elemental. They weren't kidding. Unless I built straight Vitality I don't see any way to survive his AoEs, and they're so hard to see and avoid if you and your allies haven't taken care of the distraction of the mobs that spawn around him. I died several times before a few of us fell into a rhythm and managed to clear out an area of the floor of mobs to avoid the distraction. We were even able to start reviving each other after that. Overall though, that fight was absolutely epic.

. . . but before I do the next one like that, I really need to learn Elixir R for my Engineer so I can auto-revive people with a thrown potion. Maybe I should say "Phoenix Down!" while I do it? XD

Have you guys done Ascalonian Catacombs yet? I hit thirty yesterday and was hoping to get with some people I knew to try to run it in Story Mode. Since world switching is still free, we could all just move onto one server for it if we wanted . . . although I'm not sure if RGG can swap over from a European server.

I just finished it yesterday. It's...difficult, to say the least. The party will need proper coordination and someone to tank.

Really, world-switching is still free? Cool.

Wait...we need to be in the same server to play dungeons together?

So pwetty...

If it weren't for the fact that half the area is bugged, we'd be doing Arah/Zhaitan now. Half my guild is 80, so we're really just waiting for shit to unfuck itself :/

So far, the hardest instance boss we faced was Huntsman (Honor of the Waves). Fuck him so much. We actually 4-manned it while a member was AFK by killing the sharks below him, luring his pet into the water and baiting it into attacking the remaining champion shark, causing them to kill each other while we assisted. THEN we killed Huntsman. Emergent gameplay ftw.

Yeah, world switching is free at the start while the server populations settle. Guesting, however, isn't implemented yet, so we would have to be on the same world to do anything except sPvP together. If Sea of Sorrow isn't full - which from what I hear it usually is - I could try to join on yours for a run if you wanted to. Just need to figure our a convenient time, which is usually between 5-12 PST for me.

So you've done most of the dungeons, RGG? What was your favorite, for reference?

Yea, I'm kind of afraid to leave Sea of Sorrows in case they implement the "you'll need cash to switch servers" thing. Also, I think I'll be on at around that time, yes. Maybe at around 9 o'clock.

I'll probably be playing tonight, so just whisper me if you see me on around then. I'll see if I can't make the trek out there to claim a waypoint ahead of time so you don't have to wait for me to walk cross country from the Charr city.

My favorite so far in terms of epicness would be Arah (finally unbugged), but the dungeon itself is easy as fuck. The last fight against Zhaitan was literally target practice.

Really, even after the unbugging? That's kind of disappointing to hear, but maybe they wanted killing Zhaitan to be a little more accessible than other dungeons since more players are expected to do it as part of their ending?

I hope explorable mode is ridiculous though.

Ascalonian Catacombs can't get any harder. Seriously, darn those 2 lovers.

Well, that was pretty rough. Time limited and with a mish mashed party, we didn't really do too great there. And we utterly failed on the Lovers; we really needed to get people to respec for that fight so we'd have enough control to keep the separation final. As my first dungeon experience, it was a lot of fun though. The high difficulty of even normal enemies was a real treat, and all the bosses seemed to have some cool thought put into them. I'm looking forward to trying my luck again and even going back to the Explorable modes.

Yeah. I do like how the level scaling manages to maintain the difficulty of the dungeon; it makes teamwork an important factor.

Also, note: after the Lovers, the rest of the dungeon is a cakewalk. So it is something to look forward to.

Good to hear, because they wrecked me. Once they got close, Ralena's barrier kept me from so much as touching her, so I just got bounced around and killed by the two of them while trying to separate unless I could get my big bomb in just the right spot. Next time I might switch to Rifle so I have a longer ranged knockback and easy immobilize to push her around with, even if I'll lose a blind and stun/daze.

I'd say the biggest thing I took away from it all though was how glad I am to have been building Vitality along with Power on my character. I've started picking up Toughness too, and many did I need every defensive stat point I had.

Meanwhile, Vassar's confusion does me in since I attack real fast. At least I'm glad stealing from them always gives the Fear skill so it'll be easier to split them up, provided they don't interrupt you.

Also, game's back up. Want another go, or you're done? Because that dungeon took a lot out of me.

I'll be available later today XD

And yeah, explorable Arah is hard as fuck. We couldn't even get past the Forgotten route trash. Gonna check out the other routes today as well as the other dungeons' explorable routes. Did the butler route for Manor and THAT was ridiculously hard too, especially the tunnel with a fuck ton of traps, 2 snipers and a bomber to fuck the shit out of you.

Sorry, I went to bed so I missed the invite. Would've kept me up too long if I had stayed anyway though. As things stand I feel oddly well rested on just six hours of sleep though, but I probably wouldn't keep that feeling if I took on another 1-2 hour dungeon run.

As for Explorable routes, I get the distinct feeling they'll be very hard without a carefully spec'd team using voice chat to communicate. I doubt PUGs succeed very often.

Oh Gods why. Check this. This is why we can't have nice things. If that guy hadn't leeeeeeeft!

I agree, and I do hope you're right. But dungeons are so separate from the rest of the game, not just in the sense that they're instanced but that when the servers go down for maintenance people in dungeons are given 3 hours to keep playing in hopes that they can finish.

That three hour warning we got wasn't a misprint like I've seen them do before.

Yeah, I like how they would give us plenty of time to do the dungeon.

It's the same with doing the Story; you get 1 hour before it automatically resets.

That's pretty cool to hear. They do midnight maintenance a lot, but late nights are about the only time I can do a Dungeon most times. Not being booted out while trying that is pretty damn nifty.

Too bad midnight there means 3pm here.

Not that it's all bad.

Changed the topic name around. My Gears of War 2 pun isn't working so well for me any more. XD

But wow, yeah, you were committed if you were stepping up for another dungeon run at 3:30 in the morning. Can't say I'd be eager to do that with my work schedule!
