Looking to check out more action manga since I feel a bit lacking. Anyone here read Katekyo Hitman Reborn? Claymore? Soul Eater? Those are the main three I find myself interested in checking out right now. Was considering Gintama, but it seems like something that's more fun to watch animated than anything else. |

Claymore is fantastic. The anime was great, but everyone pretty much agrees that the manga is even better. |

And most of the first no clue how many chapters are much more comedy then action, they only changed it somewhere along the line into what it is now. That aside it's quite enjoyable, though as Nimbus said the current arc is a bit lacking and even Hibari's presence can't save it. Posted Image |

Man, it seems all the main JUMP books running current sans One Piece and maybe Gintama have some sort of major creative backlash against it due to current events, huh? |

Well Bleach has been narming along for quite a while now, and Naruto replaced a genuinely fun arc with Saucekay, which immediately spells fail, and the moon thing didn't help either. I'm just hoping that with the Ninja War being on now, that stuff is gonna pick up again. That aside if you want something with good quick action, I'd check out Veritas, it's pretty damn awesome. |

Here's hoping the latest Naruto fight (Kisame vs Killerbee) won't be a retarded 1000000 chapter fight, or three chapters. |

Started a host of manwha, among them Veritas. Very fun read. I tried checking out Reborn and Soul Eater... neither really impressed me. I'm 15 episodes in to Gintama and loving it. Also planning to watch Saint Seiya - anyone have thoughts on that series? |

I liked St. Seiya (well, the manga anyway, never really got to see the show much), though I've heard people say that it didn't age all that well compared to some of the other classic shounen. Try checking out the new Lost Canvas OAV: it's a prequel to the show, so there's not much to worry about in the way of spoilers, and you might get more of a feel for whether or not you'll like it. There's only 4 episodes subbed so far, though. |

I watched the first two episodes of Saint Seiya last night. While it jumped in to things a bit faster without much explanation(so much so I thought episode 1 might have been mislabeled at first); both episodes flowed well and were especially well animated for their era. |

Well as we said, Reborn starts out completely different from what it becomes. If you wanted to you could just start at the point where Tsuna deals with Mukuro&Co, so you could probably skip about the first 55 chapters. And Veritas, well among the stuff that I'm in the process of reding, it's probably among my favorites. |

I guess I'll give Reborn a bit more of a fair shake some time, then. |

The anime was actually a pretty big let down in the end. It turned into DBZ with monster powers. Basically, it took the same route as Fullmetal Alchemist: It overtook the manga, so the writers spun out a brand new ending, which was pretty pathetic. That said, the seriesis fantastic up until around episode 21 or 22. At that point, you should probably jump ship to the manga. |

The ending was a bit rushed, but for once I agree with the guys at ANN (shocking, I know). It still managed to be a very fitting end for the show, and if you go back and look at it, they actually did a lot of foreshadowing towards it throughout the series. |

Hey, I still defend the ideas of the original FMA story for the anime. Only the actual ending was bad; the rest of the new stuff, Lust's story in particular, was great. |

You could check out Ga-Rei, it's one of my persona favorites, but then again I don't read much manga. Might want to watch Ga-Rei Zero beforehand though; that way you'll enjoy the manga even more. |

Checked out another volume of Reborn, and it was more amusing than the first, so I'll continue giving it a try. Veritas has been the best of the lot so far though. Easily a Tenjou Tenge and general fighting school manga killer. |

Foreshadowing or not, it killed one of Claymore's bigger hooks. There is the ever-present danger of Awakening, a double-edged sword rarely seen in fighting manga. By the time the Claymore TV series reaches its conclusion, that element is rapidly fading in favor of increasingly grotesque and powerful transformations that feel like they were ripped straight out of Dragon Ball Z. It doesn't help that all of nothing is solved. Everything is left hanging without any resolution in sight.
I'll agree to that. The way it played a lot of the homunculi was brilliant. The writers just had the misfortune of taking leave of their senses long enough to think the WW II plot line was a good idea. |

I'm back in "need to find a manga" mode. I think someone elsewhere mentioned Vinland Saga. |

I ended up catching up on Umineko no Naku Koro Ni and Bakemonogatari this past week. Not sure I like how much spotlight the new character in the former series is getting in this new arc. . . and Bakemonogatari is upsetting me by not having its final two episodes finished yet despite the TV run being over. Where are they? I wants them. T_T |
