Most of this post is asking for help with picking out colours, as I really suck at it. HLJ Links for all three models: http://hlj.com/product/BAN920469 - BB #254 Souten Maru & Kouten Maru http://hlj.com/product/BAN943420 - BB #290 Destiny Gundam http://hlj.com/product/BAN911900 - 1/100 MG RGM-79C GM Kai So I started working on a new SD gundam kit (BB 254, Souten Maru & Kouten Maru) just after painting a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird model and decided I should paint the Gundam kit while I make it. It has the standard White, Yellow, Blue, Red as well as a silver and a Dark Grey/Black. I don't know what colours I should be using. What would people recommend? I was just going to go to my hobby store and find Tamiya Spray cans that were pretty much the right colour, probably a semi-gloss. If anyone has any recommendation on colours, or other things I should get instead, then I'd appreciate it. For the Dark grey/black colour, I already have a can of black semi-gloss spray that I could use. Also.. if I paint this one, I'd probably want to paint the other kits I have already made (unglued). I have a MG RGM-79C GM Kai, and a BB #290 SD Destiny Gundam. The SD Destiny has stickers that I applied (As I had no real intention of painting it). I don't know of any way to save them and spray paint, unless I just don't spray the piece it's on and paint it by hand... It also has a sticker that binds two of the pieces together, so I'll have to remove it to avoid making a mess of things. Is it possible to remove the stickers and reapply them later? Preferably without superglue :D The SD Destiny also has a slightly different colour white to the others. should I just ignore that and use the same white, or buy a different colour (and if so, what?). It's a greyer white. RGM-79C GM Kai Again, I have no idea what colours to use. I'd just go looking for an off-white Tamiya spray, use the same dark blue as the dark blue I'll use for Souten Maru and the standard red/yellow. I don't mind changing its colours to be white/red. I only really got it to practise before going and buying a more expensive kit (which I never really got around to doing). I also have a wide range of GW paints (Black spray and assorted normal pots) that I could use to paint any parts that the stickers were, but I can't reuse, or whatever. I suck a lot at freehand painting, though :P I'd prefer to base them unless it's not necessary or the paints are getting too expensive. I can see it not being necessary, since the plastic colour is the same as the target colour. Many thanks for any help! |
