Is the Cyborg Ninja outfit a pre-order bonus or just DLC?

That's kind of funny considering Amazon's pre-order bonus for Mass Effect 2 was the Inferno Armor.

Re watching one of the older trailers from last year, and I had forgotten about that giant mech that eerily rises, which so far we've yet to see again in any of the trailers. Only other giant mech we've seen boss wise is the psychotic Metal Gear Ray from hell.

Thing still reminds me of that creepy ass "Big Dog" thing the military was messing with.

As I said elsewhere, I'm still amused that the Ray is evidently the tutorial boss. The Metal Gear series has come a long way...though I'm totally cool with it being a crazy cyborg action series.

Agreed.

I tried the Rising demo and I actually quite liked it. Parrying will take some getting used to, and I wish there was an option to dodge-roll but was otherwise satisfied.

Being able to chop up Gekkos was great. Fuck those things.

Ditto.

The main aspect of what makes MG MG is the story, and as long as it keeps that aspect of it, which it should since Kojima is still the head of this, then the change in actual gameplay is great as far as I'm concerned. Hell, NGS4 played more action then stealth most of the time anyways, as did Peace Walker.

There's a ton of fanboys still bitching about how this isn't rael "metal gear Solid", but Kojima flat out said that it isn't. It's MG Rising. Of course they'll still bitch, despite the fact that Ground ZEROS is coming out and will be closer to the old style.

Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? The only big action moments were the Frog fight in the Middle East, the escape on Drebin's truck, the Big Mama cycle fight, Metal Gear Rex, and the Frog fight in the central control room of Haven. And then maybe the boss fights as well, but even then the Octopus, Raven, and Wolf fights were all at least partially stealth battles, and the last two could be completely stealth fights if you knew what you were doing. And when you found out their "weaknesses" you could literally end their boss battles in 3 minutes if you knew what you were doing. And all were separated by fairly long stretches of stealth (except the Vamp-Rex hallway-Rex vs. Ray stretch . . . that was admittedly pretty action packed).

Unless you're for some reason throwing in the moments where big battles were occurring between PMCs and rebels and you decided to shoot your way through. I'm not going to say you were "playing wrong" since in MGS you can choose how to play however you want. But, considering that you are told from the beginning that the battle is supposed to be a cover so you can stealth your way through or to manipulate the battlefield so you can stealth your way through, those definitely don't count as action moments.

I'd even argue that MGS1 of all the MGS games is the game with the action problem. Maybe it's because I became so good at the game, but I found that every 5 minutes you found yourself running into big action boss fight right when you were getting into the stealth mood. If would be like, two rooms of stealth and them BAM, Raven Tank . . . two rooms, BAM, Ocelot . . . a few rooms, Sniper Wolf, then after some stealth in rooms that you've already been through, there's a big action chase up the tower followed by Liquid's chopper, then once you've gotten down there's ANOTHER boss fight in Wolf again. Seriously, once you became good at MGS1, it feels like you fight a big action boss fight every few minutes. At least MGS3 and 4 gave us some boss fights that utilized some of those stealth mechanics.

Why do I feel getting the S ranks won't be so hard once you get the boss weapons...

Actually that's how Bayonetta went. On your 2nd an onward play throughs nothing was really hard due to just having overpowered weapons and skills.

So much for this being the big Xbox Metal Gear, huh Microsoft?

This'll be DLC for the 360 later, I bet.

To be honest, I'm more surprised it's not some pre-order exclusive bonus like the Gray Fox skin. At any rate, the PS3 version was already the version I was planning to pick up, so this only makes the choice easier.

That brings back fond memories of Substance.

Still, I agree with EXE. I remember when this was a big deal for being the "XBox Metal Gear". Now, the PS3 gets a bit more content.

It's shitty content though, so the PS3 is welcome to it.

XD, I laughed way too hard at this.

It made me think of that old Conan O'Brien interview with Courtney Thorne-Smith and Norm Macdonald: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqeqsBQ0wq0

It was never a big deal as the Xbox metal gear. Back when it was announced, there was no real hype for it like any of the normal metal gears because the majority of the american fan base hated Raiden. (where as JP fanbases liked him a lot)

And shortly after Kojima had said that it was always intended to be multi-plat, but gave MS the reveal for certain reasons.

The most amusing part of that demo/reveal where they showed Raiden cutting the water melon was that, THAT was literally all there was to the rising project. There was no actual game developed yet.

And again,

Finally broke down and preordered it. Had a 20 dollar gift code from Amazon for pre-ordering Dead Space 3, so I used that. Still ended up being 50 bucks though.

I really want this game to be good and everything about it seems interesting, plus I haven't played a Platinum title I've disliked yet, so I'm hopeful.

Nice! I did the same as well- I sacrificed my copy of Killzone 3 to pre-order MGR at my local Gamestop. Like you, I haven't been let down by Platinum yet. Saying that however, reminds me - I still haven't tried Anarchy Reigns.
