Yep. Kojima's been pretty tight-lipped about this one. Hope it ends up worth the wait. |

A trailer for the game was supposed to be shown at the Spike VGA's. It has leaked, and there was much rejoicing. http://www.mediafire.com/?m76v6y1hq2dbyi7 Backups: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=33342518&postcount=1 Spoiler: click to toggle

My god... that actually looks fun, and defiantly seems more action oriented then stealth which is fine by me. |

Youtube version of the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SNo8h-KfAU From what I understand, the game is no longer a prequel as originally intended. It's now set after MGS4. |

Whoa . . . I totally want this game now, if just for the precise hack and slash system. I am still hoping there are stealth elements since Kojima said awhile ago that this was still a stealth game, but that could all have changed by now. I'm convinced this takes place after 4 for two reasons. First, Raiden's attitude. He's totally not brooding or depressed in any way, but instead seems confident and strong. Second . . . if Kojima re-wrote the entire game, it explains why the delays took so long. I was definitely surprised by the return of Ray. But the great thing about this game is that maybe we can now see the fallout of events that happened in other Metal Games. Since inbetween 1 and 2, they have mentioned that Metal Gear specs have been spread to every country in the world which we never got to see the fallout from. Maybe the Ray appearing is the fallout from JD shutting down in 4 and unmanned Rays among other technologies being left about for governments to find. Also, more cyborgs . . . I knew we were going to see more robots since the first teaser, but looking at those cyborgs, I wonder if Kojima was inspired by Human Revolution. |

Holy shit, I love Raiden's helmet visor so much xD And just miscellaneous guessing on my part, but I think this engine was developed anew by Kojima's team. I don't remember any engine in the world that does model splitting like that right now, they all split body parts ahead of time to save memory and processing power. Oh and by splitting ahead of time i mean the devs decide where the body parts split at and replace models with the corresponding giblet ones when triggered. |

Why would they change it to post-MGS4? Raiden has a family now, so why would they make him don the cyborg body once again to go fight in some conflict? |

According to the Metal Gear Wiki: "At an unspecified time after Liquid Ocelot's Insurrection, Raiden was contracted by Private Military and Security Companies for VIP protection, military training, and other related jobs in regards to helping to rebuild a developing country that had undergone a bloody civil war. However, plans abruptly changed when cyborgs started attacking everywhere." It makes sense. Plus, the world has changed. The enemy is no longer the quasi-omnipotent Patriots who can hunt down his family easily. Conflicts are probably rare and the world is rebuilding. With that, Raiden probably feels the freedom to enter and exit combat as he pleases when he feels he is needed. Plus, the above seems to indicate Raiden had no clue a real conflict was going to start, but probably felt obligated after cyborgs started showing up. Overall, I am enjoying Raiden's new attitude. I like that the philsophical blabber that we would typically hear from Snake at the beginning of a MGS trailer is now bring spoken by Jack. A fully grown up Raiden is one of the things I am looking forward to the most, and that wouldn't have been possible if this was an interquel. I'm even willing to give Rose a second chance if she is in this, and Zero haet Rose. As for the name "Revengeance", it's probably made to conflict with what Raiden said during the trailer about the samurai. Basically, does arming oneself and acting with arms help prevent war from happening again, or does it breed the losing side's need for revenge? |

This is a very good question, actually. The original setting for the game made lots of sense, and I was looking forward to finding out more about Raiden's actions during that timeframe. With the new setting it does seem a bit odd, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they explain everything. Speaking of changes Platinum Games has made to the concept, the game has been confirmed to have lost its stealth elements in the changeover as well. Pointed my way by EXE: a minorly extended version of the trailer. From what I can tell, it looks like the new stuff is mostly at the end (and it removes the "Return of The Ripper" bit from the NA version of the trailer). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uSHmKf5Gp4 |

Enjoying the music more than the normal MG norm. And overall just the feel is more appealing then what we've gotten over and over again for over a decade. Also that it takes place in a modern environment and not some god awful desert in the middle of nowhere., |

I like the honesty and humility. It really sounds like Kojima was trying to create a game way ahead of its time and it just wasn't working out, and he realized that it was better to make use of what they had in the hands of another studio than let it all just have been a waste of time. I also loved the footage that takes place after Raiden cuts the box in half. The more I hear, the more I want. |
