"And we'll be back with an interview with Inoue Masahiro about his role in the upcoming Kamen Rider series..."

Tokyo, 2009.

It was an overcast day, umbrellas of all colors being carried by the various citzens. Magazines featuring riders of all sorts were being sold, some kids were wearing t-shirts emblazoned with their favorite Rider. It was an idyllic and peaceful day...

A road in Shibuya fogs up, and the sudden roar of a motorcycle disrupts the air. No one pays it any mind, figuring it was just some hooligan joyriding around to make himself feel good. On the bike, a man incast in gold, silver and brown armor looks around, trying to see something, anything through the fog.

Suddenly, without warning, he clears it, and for the first time realizes something is very. VERY wrong...

"This... isn't the Tokyo I remember." he said to himself, pulling the bike over to look around the bustling city. "Gear HQ... is gone? What the hell happened?"

Episode 1, start.

As the fog receded Mana and Youko found themselves standing in the middle of a decidedly different street by themselves. "What...just happened?" Mana said, as she rubbed her head. The sudden shift had been quite disorienting for her and had thrown the girl off balance.

"Dunno." Annoyingly enough Youko didn't seem to be affected in anyway. She twirled her knife and sheathed it in the upper right forearm sheath, as she looked around at the familiar buildings. "Looks like we're still in Tokyo...but..."

"Something feels wrong," Mana finished. "Yeah. Come on Rookie." Fortunately enough their motorcycles had come along for the ride, something that Mana was internally thankful for as she mounted up. She really didn't want to go walking around this place. She shuddered at the feeling and focused on the task at hand, whatever that was. "Let's go to the polcie station," she suggested.

Youko nodded, "Sounds like a plan." With that said they both fell into silence, both contemplating their strange predicament.

Kaori woke up the next morning with a scowl on her face. She was rested, but her mood hadn't changed much since last night. She had taken a brief look through the pamphlets, somewhat relieved that having powers didn't mean that she wasn't human, but the laws that were mentioned were exceptionally complicated, especially those regarding permitted use of anything.

"Those laws just make me want to never use these powers even more," the girl grumbled as she climbed out of bed, "I can even risk arrest, even if I used powers for a nonviolent purpose? Even if it's to save someone? Garbage."

Brushing her teeth and getting dressed, she set out to do the first thing on her list for the day: Get the very noticeable cosmetic damage to her bike fixed.

As she left the parking garage, however, there was something extremely odd. The streets just outside her apartment were filled with a thick fog. From the window view of her apartment, the day was sunny. Where'd this fog come from? Shrugging her shoulders, she just decided to continue driving on. On the other side of the fog, Kaori was brought to a halt as she met with completely different scenery than what she was used to.

"What just happened!? The street signs seem the same. The buildings aren't though..." she thought before glancing back, "WHAT!? T-The apartment's gone!?"

The ride had been the same as other days, for the most bit. There were no interruptions to pull him off of the usual path. With this in mind, Saburo SHOULD have made it back home within a short while, but he hadn't factored in the fog. Trying to best find his way through the fog, the sight once he cleared it was not what he expected to see.

"I took the same path I always do... Why did I end up here?" he asked himself, looking down at his motorcycle. Did he really make a wrong turn somewhere? ... no, that couldn't have been it. Even if there were poor choices of directions involved, it didn't change the fact that things looked very different from what he remembered.

Casting a glance behind him, he almost considered taking the same path back in order to start over. However, something within told him he was better off investigating the new situation. "It doesn't feel like a natural occurence... But there's not enough information to decide if it's a supernatural cause either. Hope you're still with me." he muttered to no one in particular, before continuing to drive on past a girl who seemed to be staring at a few buildings behind her.

The throaty roar of a motorcycle broke through the thick fog that surrounded the streets of Shibuya as two figures raced onto the main streets, pulling to a stop when they reached a clear area. To all outside observers, the bike would look like a normal racing bike, except that its cowling was just a little too fancy, with what looked like a pair of insectoid antenna on front, and an emblem resembling a beetle and bearing the legend ZECT emblazoned on the right flank.

After a second, the bike's driver pulled off his helmet, revealing a young man with short spiky hair. He looked around in confusion. "What IS this?"

The passenger, now helmetless and revealed as a cute girl about the same age as her companion, climbed off and looked around. "Hiro-kun, where ARE we? This city looks so...clean."

The man - Hiro - pulled the bike off to the curb and set down the kickstand. Leaving it with his female companion, he took a few steps towards the city and stared, as if he could look past the buildings and see what wasn't there. Something about one of the buildings looked familiar; slowly, he held up a hand so that it blocked off part of the top of the building, making it look as if the top had been taken off by...something...

The realization was powerful, such that it took Hiro a few seconds to actually admit to himself what was going on as soon as he realized it. "Haruna...this is Shibuya."

"What?!" Placing the helmet on the motorcycle, Haruna walked over to where Hiro was standing and glanced at the city. Like him, it took her a few seconds to fully process what she was seeing. "It...it is. Hiro, what on Earth is happening?"

"I don't know," he said, the shock still evident in his voice. "But I think we should find out."

"That's what I want to know." the armored man, seated on his motorcycle not 10 feet from Hiro and Haruna. "If I had to guess, we're in the same boat."

"Ah, Kamen Rider?!" a passing child squealed, pointing at him.

"Is he a new one? I don't remember one like him." another person said, as murmurs began to rise.

"Look, people came out of the fog too." a woman noted.

"Does that say... ZECT?" someone asked.

"A bit far for some cosplay isn't it?" another person mumbled.

"People, walking freely and talking as if nothing is wrong. This is beyond weird." the man thought to himself before continuing to speak to Hiro. "Shall we talk, traveller to traveller?"

"Shall we talk, traveller to traveller?"

"Another Rider?" Haruna asked quietly, more to herself than to anybody in particular.

Hiro stepped forwards, partly shielding Haruna from anything the other man might try. Doesn't look like a ZECT model...did somebody else develop their own Rider System? On the edge of his awareness he heard people making comments about Riders and ZECT, but at the moment he filed it away as unimportant.

"Same boat?" he asked, locking eyes with the silver reflective eyepieces on the other man's helmet. "What do you mean?"

---

The gentle bump-bump of train tracks did nothing to disturb Yuri's nap as she lay on the seat in one of the MoriLiner dining car's booths. Her three Imagin sat nearby, watching over her and talking.

"Yanno, Nogami says he's got bad luck, but then something like this happens," mused Janna. "At least HE gets to stay within the decade when he fights runners."

"Quit bellyaching," Attha said. "It's quite a privilege to see what the country was like before the war. A lot of those old buildings got destroyed, you know."

Morre lay back at a nearby booth and sighed. "I'm just glad we didn't need to de-transform back there. Can you imagine how those uptight old folks would have reacted to Yuri's outfit?"

"Yes, that probably wouldn't have been pleasant," conceded the older Imagin.

The familiar whistle blew, causing all the Imagin to look up in surprise. "I guess we're back," Janna said. She went over and gently shook Yuri. 'Hey, wake up. We're back in the present."

"Hmm?" Slowly, the young woman stirred and stretched. "Oh, thank you." Standing up, she headed for the door. "I'll see you guys later, okay?"

With a final wave from her companions, Yuri stepped off the MoriLiner and started for home. Only after the Time Train had departed did she wake up enough to get a look around.

"Where is this? This isn't near my apartment. The Owner didn't make a mistake, did he?"

"Shibuya, and every other ward of Tokyo as I know it, stinks of fear and death. There are no people, there is only silence." the man said gravely, before pointing towards an empty spot in the sky line. "15 kilometers in that direction, a black monolith of a skyscraper hangs over Tokyo like a an opressive watch tower, known to me as Gradient Electronic Advancement Research headquarters, or GEAR for short."

He saw a shadow move in the distance and adopted a different, unthreatening pose that wasn't aimed at the man, but whatever was lurking behind him.

"I traveled through a thick fog a couple of minutes ago, and now here I am. I can only assume it is the same for you, since there was no one behind me when I appeared here."

He continued to scan the area behind the other man, paranoid of what else could come from the fog.

Hiro listened to the man's story, then nodded slowly. "That sounds pretty familiar, yes. Where we come from, a meteor hit Shibuya in '99 and brought a kind of monster called Worms with it. The whole city's a mess, but people still manage to get by. Isn't that right, Haruna?"

"Eh?" the young woman was a little surprised as her boyfriend brought her around the other side of the motorcycle, no longer shielding her from the other Rider. "Y-yes, it's quite harsh, but it's still home."

"Act natural," Hiro whispered to her. "There's something behind us. I think the other guy's noticed it too."

A loud hiss from above accompanied by a brief set of screams was all the warning they got when an ant monster leapt from a nearby tree. However, before it could get very far, three rapid shots rang out in the air and knocked it from the sky. Falling to the ground, almost exactly where Haruna stood before Hiro had moved her.

"Hmmm, I don't recognize that," the man said, laying his odd gun down acrossed the handlebars of hs bike. "I'll scan it into my database for further analysis." He removed the covering on the back of his left hand revealing a camera. Taking a picture when it stood up, he turned to Hiro again.

"Hey, your call. You want to take this guy or can I?"

This world was definitely different. His short ride around Shibuya alone had shown him structures that he never saw before. He could only imagine how the rest of Japan looked, or if he even had a home here. At the same time, was his job still here...? Reaching down into his jacket, he pulled out his cellphone and began to dial the number to his job. Pressing the phone to his ear, he waited for the ring to let him know the call when through.

We are sorry. The number you have dialed is not in service. Please hang up and try again.

"Tch... So it's really true." Saburo grumbled, closing the cellphone and pocketing the device. Leaning on the motorcycle's handlebars for a few moments, he wondered what to do next. Depending on how long he was here, he would need temporary lodgings and a stable job. Looking at his other pocket, he reached inside and pulled out a square card holder with an unusual design on it. "At least this is still here."

Holding it close to his head for a moment, he pocketed the deck and turned the motorcycle around. Perhaps driving back would fix things.

"Hey, your call. You want to take this guy or can I?"

The pair backed away from the bike and headed over to where the other Rider was. "That's not one of ours either," Haruna said, acting surprisingly calm given the situation.

"No idea how strong it is, then..." Hiro mused. "I say we double-team it. Better safe than sorry."

He held up his hand; in the distance, what looked like a portal appeared in the sky, with a green beetle-like machine flying out, circling around a few times, and finally flying into Hiro's hand. He looked at the Zecter, then to the Kaijin. "Henshin."

Locking the Zecter onto his belt, tiny glowing hexagons spread out over Hiro's body, resolving into a heavily armored Kamen Rider, predominantly brass-colored with a few green parts on the chest, arms, and shoulders. As soon as the transformation was complete, he reached over his shoulders and drew out a pair of shortswords with gun barrels on the backside.

"Well, shall we?"

A few minutes later Mana's head jerked up. "There's something in the tree," she whispered. "Hostile?"

"It doesn't sound human..." she replied as an Ant-like monster dropped from it. Before the grotesque freak could hi the ground, Youko had pulled her shotgun out and blown its head off. As the sound of the blast receded she stopped and dismounted. "Looks like an Unknown," Youko said prodded the corpse with the barrel of her shotgun.

"But it couldn't be. Why would they be back now?"

"Who knows. But if they are fucking with us that'd explain a few things. Come on Kazaya, let's get to the police station."

"Right yeah. Wait a minute."

"What is it?"

"I hear something. Sounds like fighting."

Youko turned, "You're sure?" Mana just tilted her head slightly. "Whatever. Lead on then Kazaya."

Pulling gun off the handlebars, 175 hopped down and adopted a lax pose, patting the gun off his shoulders. When the ant creature hissed and started forwards again, he quickly burried another shot into its gut.

"Let's go." he said, walking forward slowly, popping the knuckles on his left hand. "My computing systems have already scanned in your measurements, I should be able to shoot around you, in the event you get stuck between me and it."

He was calm about it, as if he was complimenting a friend on a new tie or purchasing that new boat they always wanted. In the middle of the battle, it was... odd.

"Pretty high-tech suit you have there," Hiro said with a chuckle. He took a running leap towards the ant monster, coming down with a downwards slash, before following it up with a sideways cut and spinning around to side kick it in the chest, knocking it several feet away.

"Haruna, could you?" he asked, glancing over at his girlfriend.

She nodded. "Gotcha." Immediately she began working crowd control, trying to get the gawking civilians out of harm's way with a practiced efficiency that said she was used to this sort of thing.

"It's one of a kind," 175 quipped wryly as he followed the other Rider's charge, following sedately enough the recover monster with a thrust kick to the jaw. There was a brief rustle in trees, which was noted by 175's sensors.

"Hmmm, it appears your decision to team up was prudent." he said, glancing at the trees. "I think there may some more of them in the trees, be careful."

"Man, the old saying is right. 'When it rains, it pours.'" Hiro glanced over at his new partner. "Can you deal with this one? I'll try to flush out the others."

With surprising calm, Hiro stored the sword-guns and walked over to the line of trees. "Oi, Monster-san! I know you're up there! Come out and play!"

He reached down to the Zecter and flipped the wing plates open a small faction. Energy began running over the armor as the heavier plates began rising up from the main body.

"Alright." 175 replied, turning to the monster and casually nailing it in the chest with another three round burst before he took a loose wide stance. "Let's see if this will work..." The gem on the belt glowed and the silver eyes flashed before the Rider was airborne in a graceful flying kick that slammed into the ant creature with considerable force, knocking it backwards and bouncing it off a tree.

"Well, even if it isn't dead, it can't fight anymore." he said, rapping the gun against his shoulder has a glowing blue halo of light flashed over the monster's head before it exploded into a small fireball. "Huh, that's... weird."

As if in response to Hiro's challenge, not one, two, but three of them jumped down from the trees and hissed violently at him as they attempted to menance him by moving their heads oddly.

"Hey, miss!" 175 called out to Haruna, waving to get her attention. "Be careful of the trees, there are these creeps hiding in them."

"Hey, miss! Be careful of the trees, there are these creeps hiding in them."

"Right!" Haruna said with a quick nod, moving away from the trees.

Hiro laughed again as the ant creatures approached. "Guess it's my lucky day. CAST OFF!" As he said the last part, he flipped the wings open more fully.

CAST OFF

With a final surge of energy, the armor plates blasted off in all directions, several of them bashing into the ant Kaijin and knocking them off their feet. In the middle of the chaos, Hiro stood in a lighter, smoother Rider suit, mostly green with a few brass details. Two "sticks" resting between the eyepieces flipped upwards, fanning out into V-shaped antennae.

CHANGE SCARAB

"Now that's more like it!" he said as he rolled his shoulders. "Maybe the fight'll be a little more fair now!"

---

"Um...guys?"

Yuri looked around, assessing the situation while trying to contact her Imagin partners. "Have you guys already gone to sleep?"

No, we're still here. What's up? asked Janna.

"...This isn't home."

After a brief pause, three figures rose out of the ground around Yuri. Everything from the waist up stood on the ground, while the hips and legs hovered about a foot above their heads.

Attha glanced around, stroking her chin. How incredibly strange...I don't think the Owner made a mistake or anything.

Guys, more important! interrupted Morre, pointing off into the distance. Monsters! Monsters!

"Imagin?" Yuri asked.

Doesn't smell like Imagin...but whatever it is, it isn't human.

The young woman nodded. "Let's go." At that she took off running as the Imagins' sand forms faded away once more.

175 deftly danced around a piece of stray armor that flew towards him.

"A high mobility mode? Most interesting." he mused, when a beeping noise alerted him to something.

"Hmmm... analysis complete?" he asked, still amazed at how fast it did that. "Kaijin type: Unknown, fitting. Species: Formica Pedes. Black Carpenter Ant huh? That's curious, some kind of mutant?"

He shook his head as he heard one near him rustling in the trees.

"Come come now, you guys started this fight. No use running away now."

The three around Hiro stood up and flexed a little, attempt to gain their bearings after being knocked over.

---

Over by Mana and Youko, several of the ant creatures dropped down out of the trees, their incoherent hissing having a more bloodthirsty tone to it.

Thanks to the Flame Form's unerring sense Mana and Youko found themselves at the site of the battle in quick order. "There," the former said pointing with her index finger. "What are those things the Unknown are fighting?"

"We can find out later. Let's take them apart!"

Mana hefted the Flame Axe above her head and swung it as she rode by one of the Unknown, cleaving the Ant-like creature neatly in two. Behind her Youko dismounted, pulling her trusty shotgun out. She thumbed the selector over to 'auto' and walked forward discharging it into any of the Unknown foolish enough to get close.

"Looks like the hate you Kazaya," Youko said with a laugh.

"Hmph you think?"

"Let's see... I took a right here, and... What?" Saburo asked, stopping the bike, as he looked over on the ground. This couldn't have been the path he took before... There was a person lying on the ground, who seemed to be trailed by several more. Immediately dismounting the bike, he ran over to the fallen human and checked the person for a pulse... None. Looking at his throat, however, there seemed to be a large red mark around his throat.

Standing up, he investigated the next few bodies, finding similar markings on them. Was someone going around strangling people...? But how could they get away with it in plain sigh-

"AAAAAAAAH!"

"Damn...!" Saburo growled, running past the line of bodies that led around a corner. As he rounded it, he saw the culprit... It wasn't a matter of who was strangling these people, but what: A bizarre humanoid seemed to be standing before another person, with odd spikey vines growing from its backside. One seemed to be elongated and wrapped around a woman's throat, choking the life out of her before she was released. Falling to the ground lifelessly, the creature retracted the vine, letting out a low growl.

"A Kaijin... But one i've never seen before." he muttered, before stepping back. Looking at the window to his side, he turned to it and pulled out the Advent Deck. Pointing it at the window, he found a belt materialized around his waist, before he held the Advent Deck to his head. "Henshin!" Bringing the Advent Deck down, he slid it into the V-Belt and lowered his arms, as his Rider armor appeared over him. Looking off to the side, he walked around the corner and looked off at the creature.

"Kaijin... You will pay for each and every last life you've taken." he spoke, causing the creature to slowly turn and look towards Hellvern. Moving its head around a bit, it launched a single vine at the man quickly wrapping his arm and yanking him to the side. Hitting a lamp post, he was stunned for a moment before the Plant creature began to pull him in. Struggling against the plant creature, he was unable to break free... However, the enemy had put himself into a bad position.

"... Got you." Hellvern spoke, as the Plant creature felt something push into it's waist. Looking down, the creature had but a moment to see the Shad Visor before Saburo pulled the trigger, sending the creature flying into the nearby park with a point-blank shotgun shell. Rolling his head around a bit, Saburo cocked the shotgun before beginning pursuit.

"These guys don't seem too tough, but there's lots of them!" Hiro said as he rushed up and clocked one across the jaw with a hook punch. As another one came at him, he threw a snap kick into its face. A third leapt at him, but he caught it out of the air and flung it a distance away as he pulled out one Scarabreak Caliber.

As he took a couple of slashes at one of the ant Kaijin, Hiro looked up and noticed that another Rider had joined the battle. "Man, it's just getting crowded now."

---

Yuri continued running, following the urging of her partners. After a few blocks, she stopped to take a look around. "Where are they?"

The trees! They're crawling with the things!

No sooner had the thought entered her head when several ant creatures dropped out of the trees and started advancing on her. Calmly, she pulled out the Moria Belt and whipped it around her waist. Pulling out the Rider Pass with one hand, she drew a blue and gold card from the buckle with the other and slid it into the pass, causing a blue barcode to pop out. "Janna, let's go."

Leave it to me!

Nodding, Yuri swiped the pass.

BLADE FORM

Energies gathered from all around, encasing Yuri in the armor of Uni Form. As Janna entered her body, two criss-crossing train tracks appeared in the air, bringing the armor of Blade Form with them. The plates locked into place as the cross-shaped visor slid down and spread out. As soon as the transformation was complete, Moria pulled out the MoriGasher and began assembling it into its sword form.

"Alright, you ugly creeps, you'd better get ready! Heaven may forgive you, but I sure as hell won't! Now let's rock!" As the blade extended from the MoriGasher, Janna charged the enemies.

"Curious," 175 noted as the one he had taunted leapt down at him, only to be shot from the air again. "More Kamen Riders, and the one in red is giving of a strange energy reading my sensors can't really detect beyond a brief flash. More interesting." He spun and back handed the thing with his gun, pausing to wave to the two newcomers.

"Greetings," he called, sliding around a sloppy tackle and shooting the thing again. "It would appear we have more travellers."

One thorny whip lashed out at Hellvern, who rolled to the side to escape the strike. Looking up, a second followed up, prompting the Rider to roll back onto his feet before the vine could try stabbing him. Pointing the Shad Visor forward, his eye sensors began feeding him bits of information. As the Plant Kaijin lashed out with another whip, Saburo pulled the trigger, blowing off the vine and striking the foe with several blasts. Walking forward, he cocked the weapon and fired again and again and again, each shot forcing the creature back.

"Monsters like you will never be forgiven. I'll be sure to destroy each and every last one of you." he spoke, before pulling open the card reader on the Shad Visor's back. Reaching down to the Advent Deck, he pulled out one card and slid it into the Shad Visor before it shut.

SHOOT VENT

Storing the Shad Visor on his hip, he held out his left hand. In moments, an even bigger shotgun appeared in his left hand, before he shouldered it. The shotgun's design seemed very ornate, resembling the creature he made a contract with.

"I'll burn you to ashes with the Shad Burn." he spoke, before taking hold of the weapon with his second hand. Aiming the weapon at the undead, he pulled the trigger and fired a spread burst of visibly black shots. The Plant Kaijin leapt over the initial blast however, causing patches of black flames to appear where the creature once stood. Aiming the weapon up, he prepared to fire a second blast, until the creature sent forth several more vine whips. Cursing, the Rider was put on the defensive, moving behind a statue for cover... Until the whips began to cut right through it.

"Why couldn't it be a Mirror Monster...?" he asked, as he rolled out of his riding spot and aimed forward with the Shad Burn, firing a second burst that engulfed the Plant Kaijin. Saburo heaved a sigh of relief as he sent away the Shad Burn and prepared to walk away. Unfortunately for him, the whips that shot from the flames and wrapped around him told him that the creature was not quite dead yet... Though it WAS quite angry.

Hellvern found himself on a one way trip through the air, still being pulled along by the vines, before being slammed into the ground roughly.
