Disappointing. Or it may be good except they don't know how to make a trailer.

Looks okay, though I'm somewhat ill that they went the "bone claws" route, since I always thought that was rather stupid. Also, the trailer had too much Gambit and not enough Deadpool, though seeing what i assume was little Storm makes me hopeful that Gambit'll at least have some justification for being in the movie.

Could be worse. Here's hoping the movie's rather decent - though more Deadpool will always be welcome.

I thought it looked decent. I wanted to see Reynolds in the Deadpool duds or with cancer face though. Damn you Trailer!

I get the distinct impression that in this version Wolvie might be partially responsible for Wade's scarring, leading up to (hopefully) his own movie.

The trailer wasn't half-bad, this should be a good movie, and I am looking forward to it. But more Deadpool would have been welcome in the trailer.

So, apparently Wade gets a giant Baraka-style claw implanted in him when he gets his face screwed up, as well as getting his mouth sewn shut. I'm guessing that when Logan escapes, they turn Wade into a bootleg version of him to help track him down, and that they sew his lips to shut him up. He then goes batshit insane over the fact that he can't make snide remarks anymore, and this is what completes his transformation to Deadpool.

The final scene needs to be of him being revealed to be alive, and ripping his stitches out, before saying something crazy & 4th-wall breaking to the audience.

Someone will wonder if that's the same guy, and Deadpool will say "that's right, it most certainly is!" to the audience. Roll credits.

Okay, I've gotta get a little something off my chest, so bear with me for a sec here, okay?

Ever since the new info came out revealing the (likely) fate of Wade in this movie, I've watched a bunch of people flip out and scream that Fox is destroying everything that makes Deadpool so beloved. And, while I can certainly understand the fear, since knowing Fox it's a definite possibility, I don't believe this story idea is a reason to get so worked up.

For those of you who don't know Wade's backstory from the comic books, he was a mercenary who, upon discovering he had cancer, joined up with the Weapon X program as a test subject. They tried to give him an artificial version of Logan's healing factor, but the process failed and left him a monstrous, tormented human being, who was shuttled off to a holding area where other failed experiments like him were kept. He spent his time there being tortured for refusing to kowtow (in scenes reminiscent of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) becoming something of a hero to the others, as well as an object of pity due to the fact that he is the eternal loser of the Dead Pool: the contest held where the prisoners determine who will die next and escape their miserable existence. So long as Wade continues to seem useful to the scientists, and so long as he refuses to crack, he'll be kept alive, if for no other reason than to continue to try and break him.

Eventually, Wade feels pity for a friend he'd made in his time there and - despite strict rules to the contrary - kills him to put him out of his misery. This results in an automatic death sentence for him, and he is killed essentially by having his heart ripped out. However, his desire for vengeance against the one responsible is so strong, that at the moment his life is about to give out, his previously inactive healing factor kicks in, causing him to regenerate the damage almost instantaneously, as well as causing him to become completely insane. He enacts bloody vengeance on all those around him, and breaks out, declaring that from that time on he will be known as Deadpool.

Now, what is the significance of all this? Simply put, everyone who is upset about these "changes" to his character are missing the fact that this movie isn't giving us DEADPOOL, it's giving us Wade Wilson. As I see it, the supposed transformation of Wade - the wise-ass mercenary played by Ryan Reynolds - into the Wolverine knockoff Weapon XI is a more action-packed, Wolverine-centric way of portraying the character of Deadpool during this period I've just described. The Wade Wilson in that story wasn't a zany, happy-go-lucky goofball with a smile on his face and an Uzi in his hand yet; he was a sad, lonely, tormented individual whose very existence brought him pain...just as he's being described in the movie.

I want a Deadpool movie to happen as much as anyone, but for it to be the Wade we all know and...well, endure, he's GOT to go through this somber, miserable experience. I just can't see why all the supposed Deadpool fans out there can't see that.

Anyway, rant mode off.

First off, your rant is well placed, Fearless Leader. Many a time, comic book characters create an iconic image of him/herself that it sticks so well that fans forget the origin of the character(s). And when that origin appears after a long time, the fans go crazy because they were so used to the iconic image of the character(s) that any deviation from the image amounts to heresy and then some. And Deadpool is not excluded from this problem either, as the case with X-Men Origins shows.

As for the movie, I totally can see the film staff taking a similar road that the Hulk vs. Wolverine staff did and have Wade appear at the end in some fashion--after the credits roll and everything, for example. 4th wall breaking is highly likely, but not guaranteed. I have a feeling Ryan Reynolds won't disappoint fans, but the script writers.....that's another story. As for his mouth getting sewn shut, sure Wade can't speak out loud, but hey, that's what internal monologues are for, right?

(Un)Fortunately, I usually know very little when it comes to comic book and video game adaptations into movies. I knew a little about X-Men like some of Wolverine's past, the Sentinels and the death of Prof X, but for almost every other Marvel or DC movie I've been in the dark.

Which means I can sit back and enjoy mindless action without getting all Nerd-Raeg over it. But then there are things that fly over my head. Like Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man. I was excited for the fact it was Samuel L. Badass Mother Fucker Jackson, not Nick Fury.

New trailer. Apparently Weapon XI has Wolvie's regen, Cyclops' beams, and possibly all the powers of the other mutants.
