The other stuff's all been subbed pretty faithfully...wonder why not this?

Well, my immediate reaction was, "I really like this OP." XD

I like this take on the traditional HnK character designs, since it keeps the familiar style for the men while not making the women appear quite so...mannish.

It was cool that they were able to show the blood uncensored, but there were a couple of times where I thought the fighting strayed just a little too far into DBZ territory, notably the building exploding when he punched the guy and the hissatsu on the Demon King. It was still cool, but it just felt more like Generic Fantasy Martial Art #47 than actual Hokuto Shinken to me. Yeah, I know this is Raoh and not Kenshiro, so there would naturally be SOME differences, but if you had shown me the initial fight and I didn't know what it was supposed to be, I couldn't have told you he was using Hokuto Shinken. Still, I laughed at how Raoh was so careful with his instrument the whole time, practically told the Demon King to LISTEN TO HIS SONG, then crushed the damn thing in response and off-handedly said he couldn't play. Oh, and the part where he counters the Demon King's big attack was great, too. XD

One thing I've learned is that - due to the very nature of the protagonists in any HnK show - the main character's supporting cast are very important to any of these shows, and in that respect I really like this one. Souga and Reina are bad-ass, and I'm really curious to see more details on their origin and more examples of what they can do. Personally, I'm guessing Souga might be a practitioner of Nanto Seiken, since we ALWAYS need one of those around. Wonder if he'll use a pre-existing form or if they'll have made up a new one just for him?

Overall, I liked the first episode, thought it did feel a tad rushed, and I was a bit iffy on Raoh's depiction of Hokuto Shinken. But, I'll definitely be following it for now.

Apparently Toei is partnering up with Crunchy, so we may see FotNS on Crunchy soon.

Yeah, they've announced that the original is being put on now, which is cool. Now if only someone with some actual talent would do Raoh Gaiden and put it there....

Episode 2 was fucking awesome. The first meeting between Raoh and Kokuro was amazingly manly. Pic related.

I'm really hoping we'll get some backstory on Reina & Souga soon. Considering Raoh's general attitude towards...well, everyone, I wanna know how they managed to meet up and gain so much respect for each other.

Also, nothing says you're a badass like fighting a giant horse barehanded.

The Densetsu stuff gave them a fair amount of background; though not much.

Spoilers, if you want to know:

IIRC, Souga and Reina are children of Shura who grew up along with Raoh, and want to help him in his quest to gain power and eventually return and change Shura for the better.

So yeah.

I think HoM's hompage has DDLs for some of the Densetsu stuff... but I watched almost all of it on YT.

Watched the new releases a few days ago.

Major events we get to see in these episodes are the establishment of Cassandra Prison, and how the Warden was given his job. So far this show is doing a great job establishing how such and such happened in the core manga, and I'm enjoying it.

For those not in the know, the OP single is also out now.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying the story, though the subs make me cringe. Still, at least they're understandable for the most part, so it could be worse.
