Hope its maybe a manga adaption? Hard to do much else with how the original series and movie ended.

Ooooh. I as well hope that this is another manga adaption of some sort, because it's a little hard to move on from where we left off.

XD I forgot that I didn't finish the series... was going through the DVDs and the second last (I think the 4 of the last 7 episodes) was corrupt - AND it was the official one <_< AND I had it replaced TWICE! So yeah... didn't bother finishing it off :P

I still need to catch up on the manga. It was almost totally different after a handful of volumes, but all I remember are about Lust's altered role and how Barry the Chopper became comic relief for Roy and the gang. XD

He even has a crush on Hawkeye... something carried over to the parody game for PS2 IIRC.

Yeah, I know. He was so awesome in the manga. XD

Okay, that's it. I need to figure out what chapter I left off on so I can catch up. I'll mark it in spoiler tags, so that someone who's up-to-date can tell me what chapter to come back to.

It was the chapter where Roy kills Lust in the same way he ends up killing Pride/Bradley in the anime.

That event happens in the tail end of chapter 39. It’s currently on 86, so you’ve got a bit to go to catch up. It continues to get more awesome as it goes, so don’t worry.

New series starts April 5th, and both Ed and Al are gonna be voiced by their original seiyuu.

So, definitely manga adaption then? Because it certainly doesn't look related to the anime.

I'm assuming so, but there really hasn't been any confirmation one way or the other.

To be fair, other than manga adaption, the only other option is a side-story that took place at some point during the anime. At the very least, it has to take place before the last half of the anime or so, from what we've seen of Ed and Al's physical state.

If it is a manga adaption, which I think is likely... how do you think they'll change up the first 4-5 episodes? Rehashing the stuff from the first anime would be pretty boring, I think, even if it was re-written/animated.

I'm good with a manga adaption since I really love it, but I just don't know how they would do the first 10 to 15 episodes and what they will do when they catch up.

I really doubt they'll catch up on anything.

Considering recent events, the manga will most likely end before or by chapter 100.

This anime may just be able to adapt the whole manga.

Honestly, I'd be willing to be that they would just do a single episode that sort of reminds everyone of the first few episodes, then continues on from there. That is, of course, assuming this IS a straight manga adaptation.

I know how they'll handle the first few episodes, should this become a continuation of the manga rather than the anime. It's simple.
In a two-or-three-part adventure, we have Ed and Al doing some new adventuring while the heads back at central go over Ed and Al's stuff 'in the past', looking over their already-happened adventures - including some flashback clips and maybe even some reanimated stuff.

It's not the best solution, but it's a quick and simple one.

Am I the only person who can't wait for this?

I caught up on the manga a month or so ago and if this is really going to be a true adaption, man, I can't wait to see all the neat shit they'll show, and to hear all the old cast members return. I've gotten so used to Roy's VA in other things by now(Garis in Gaiking, Kariya from Bleach) that it's going to be a trip to hear him again. This and Valkyria Chronicles are looking to be my IT anime for 2009.

Well, my sister was a huge FMA fan, and she's salivating over this. I was never a HUGE fan of FMA, but I liked it and I'm really hoping this'll be good.

I'm counting the days now. I love FMA, especially the manga.

Ditto, Nuriko.
Here's hoping it lives up to the last show and movie - and in a good way.
