Agreed. This week's episode, on the other hand, was excellent, and introduced both Sierra and Mellie's backstories in a very interesting way. I hope they pick up on Sierra's again in particular. Sounds like she was the only character to be outright forced into the Dollhouse, as even Echo was given a choice, even if it wasn't a favorable one. And now I want the dude who did it to get eviscerated by Victor. XD |

It isn't that good honestly. If it wasn't for Whedon I wouldn't of started watching it. Season finale? http://www.avclub.com/articles/fox-to-end-...sode-sho,26433/ |

Read this somewhere else but I think I got the jist of it. Sounds like the original unaired and scrapped pilot was #1 and what airs is #2-13, which is 1 episode scrapped and 12 aired. The 12th aired episode is the season finale. That makes 13 episodes that the FOX network people paid for. So they are done with season 1. The 20th Century Fox Production company makes a standalone episode all by themselves to put on the DVD release so that they have 13 full episodes on the DVDs and are probably hoping the FOX network airs it at some point. Why they didn't just use the scrapped pilot? Because the Whedon and Dollhouse fans are going to buy the DVDs to get the unaired episode. |

Just saw this week's episode. It was good. Very good. It did a few interesting things with the narrative at the beginning... it started with a scene from the episode's end from Echo's point of view, then changes viewpoints from character to character until it gets back to Echo and really gets into what happened. Had some great plot movement, and great character moments. Last few episodes have really shown what this series' true potential was... although Whedon shot himself in the foot by making the first few so generic. Spoilerfied-version: The actress playing Ms. Dewitt can't cry very well, but other than that, I loved the entire episode. I'm really interested to see how Boyd becoming chief of security, Echo being recognized as a self-aware Doll, and our former-policeman friend learning Millie's identity will affect things next episode... and I guess the 2-part finale starts the week after next? Sounds like it'll be a joy to go through. |

Well that sucks. I liked Journeyman's brother. That's two characters I like gone this week. >< Ironically, I liked Journeyman more. That is, till they canceled it. XD |

Never saw Journeyman, although I remember liking the concept... I don't remember what the concept was though. I always mix up the "immortal dude" show with the "time traveling detective" show, both of which seemed interesting and came out around the same time, but I never watched. Anyway, no new Dollhouse this week, now that I'm super excited about it. >_< But hey, not the next episode comes out on my birthday. XD |

Aaaaaaand it's over. Forever, because it received terrible ratings. Still, pretty good finale. I really loved the way they subtly developed Topher over the last few episodes; he never totally drops his goofy facade, but things like his birthday party, and Whiskey's imprint, did a lot to develop him as an inwardly troubled individual. Shame the ending didn't actually resolve anything though. Echo composites, but because she wasn't a psychopath pre-Dolling, she fights against Alpha. She seems fully aware now, even after being wiped, and even remembers her original Caroline personality. Ballard joins the Dollhouse in exchange for November's release from her contract; "Madelyne" goes back home after an awkward farewell by Ballard, whom she's never technically met. The good doctor turning out to be a doll whose disfigurement made her unsuitable for normal engagements was a big surprise, and the talk between her and Topher at the end of the episode where she became aware of it was honestly the highlight of the whole season for me. Alpha escapes, Victor is disfigured and his future as a doll is uncertain, and Sierra and Boyd have almost nothing to do this entire episode. Which is sad, since Boyd at least was my favorite character on the show. So... yeah. Good episode, poor finale. I wanted a decisive conclusion regarding Alpha, Boyd to have a major role, and a bit more from the non-Echo dolls. I'm kind of glad it's over, really... the Ballard/Caroline relationship is really, really creepy, and I'm sure they would have tried to make a romance between him and Echo if there was a follow-up season. More doctor, Topher, Boyd, Sierra, Victor and Boss Lady would have been greatly appreciated though. Echo and Alpha are, oddly enough, the show's weakest points in my eyes... well, next to Ballard. Ballard was only interesting while November was around. |

I'm all for a smaller budget if it brings Dollhouse back. Especially if Joss can do something interesting with it. |

So yeah, we're on episode 4. I'm really liking the new season so far, actually. Our former FBI-agent is still creepy and unlikeable, but just about everything else has improved over last season. Even the first episode, which was a "let Echo become the perfect sex-wife for an arms dealer so the authorities can arrest him" story, was saved by the large amount of time spent back in the Dollhouse with our good doctor, whose struggle to deal with the realization that she's a created personality carries the episode. Hell, Topher even became likeable for more than his jokes along the way; this season seems to be trying very hard to redeem his seemingly amoral attitude towards things. Admittedly, episode 2 was a weak spot. . . between Claire's dilemma in episode 1, and Priya/Sierra's problem in episode 4, this season is shaping up to be far better than its predecessor. EDIT: What the. . ? Did anyone else check out Epitaph One, the DVD-exclusive episode? I just started watching it on Megavideo. . . and it's apparently set in a post-apocalyptic future. Is this where Dollhouse is headed? 0.o |

I know it has gotten pretty good. Yes, that's where the creators wanted to go at some point but I'm not sure if they intended to go there before they realized they may not get a season 2 (or 3). |

Wow, Dollhouse has really ramped it up since it came back this month. We've seen Echo's role solidify, the factions and loyalties of the Dollhouse shift and change, explored the dark directions the technology is leading towards, saw Topher program Dolls so he could talk and joke with himself, and even got an exploration of the Attic in this latest episode. The plot and characters all really seem stronger than ever, and it seems to be building towards a spectacular finale. Can't wait to see it through to the end. |

First new episode after the holidays has hit. . . shit just hit the fan, for sure. The war between Rossum and our heroes has officially begun, the head of Rossum has been revealed to be BOYD, and Topher got a new reason to go total batshit while continuing to grow as a legitimate human being. Among other things. Shit just got real, gentleman, and at this rate our finale will be just as crazy as I'd hoped.^^ |
