"I'm sure you say that sort of thing to all the women you meet, you handsome devil..."

Grinning softly, Mac leaned in as if to share a secret, "Only to the women it's worth speaking to," he confessed, "and that's not many."

"I'm Faris, by the way. And I'm hoping you'll join me for drinks later."

"Micerhin Aldchekal Carothver," Mac replied, silently praying to whatever deity was watching over him at the moment that he'd pronounced his own name right, "And something tells me 'later' won't come soon enough, unless you have more pressing matters at hand right now..."

Dani looked over. "Is that an ether? I could definitely use that. No wounds, though; I got the jump on him." She looked around. "I don't know if I'm in the mood for a drink after that, though..."

"Yeah, it's Ether. I'll probably never get used to the taste of the stuff," she said, handing the bottle over, "and since I threw Regen around, if you had minor wounds they would be healing away and there wouldn't be that much to worry about."

"Thanks," Dani said, taking a drink from the bottle. the taste was odd, but she'd never had a problem with it, and had actually come to like most of the healing drinks over time - people tended to look at her oddly whenever it came up, but she was thankful for it.

"Only to the women it's worth speaking to, and that's not many."

The Viera giggled at his flirty response and shook her head slightly. It was cute when men tried to impress women, she'd seen it enough on her travels but it was always rare for those types of comments to be directed at her. Faris knew she already liked this one.

"Micerhin Aldchekal Carothver, And something tells me 'later' won't come soon enough, unless you have more pressing matters at hand right now..."

The silver haired woman purred then, sliding ever closer to Micerhin. "I've got nothing to do right now, so it really depends if you play yours cards right, I'd say." she smirked again then and tilted her head towards him. Movement out of the corner of her eye brought the bunny woman's attention back to the state of the room and she leaned away again.

"Actually..." she sighed and looked towards Laon and the bar owner. It'd probably be soon that he'd discuss their next course before heading out and suddenly she was struck with a new thought. She looked at him again, smiling softly. "You wouldn't happen to be here to fight the goblins would you?"

...damn. Mac thought as Faris purred, I... just... damn.
On the outside, Mac's grin shrank slightly to a knowing smirk and he laughed softly, "Here's hoping I've got a Royal Flush, then..."

"Actually... You wouldn't happen to be here to fight the goblins would you?"

Sliding the rifle he'd been carrying around off his shoulder, Mac leaned it against his stool, "Actually, yeah. I saw a few posters in the town center yesterday. Went looking for the barracks earlier..."
He paused, laughing softly again, "...and promptly got lost. I only found this place by sheer luck... but I think I've missed the recruitment drive."

"How many times is this now?"

The man from Ziga nodded to Sendis, before returning to his thoughts. Taking his Cutlass from his back, he set it down next to him and crossed his arms in thought. He was trying to recall his ventures all the way until that point. The trip to the continent had been a long one, but he hadn't run into any trouble on it. However, landing on Oria had been the start of his troubles. Following false leads, running his gil dry, and getting into constant scuffles with the locals.

"It'll only be a matter of time before we move out on this mission. I need to get better between now and then." he spoke to himself, resting his head on the table. The Regen effect seemed to be wearing off slightly, but he still managed to score a headache from the encounter. Everyone else seemed to be conversing with each other, so he took the time to relax and try to sneak in a quick nap.

Faris smiled in reply and nodded her head slightly, bangs bouncing over her eye.

"Actually, yeah. I saw a few posters in the town center yesterday. Went looking for the barracks earlier... ...and promptly got lost. I only found this place by sheer luck... but I think I've missed the recruitment drive."

She waved her hand slightly in the direction of the back room and looked towards where Laon was still standing. "There's a commander here that I've already been assigned too, maybe you can talk to him and ask to join our group." The Viera leaned towards him again suddenly, a grin crossing her features. "That's certainly make things more interesting."

"There's a commander here that I've already been assigned too, maybe you can talk to him and ask to join our group."

The seemingly-trademarked grin returned to Mac's face as he followed Faris' wave, "Lucky day..." he leaned against the bar as well, surveying the damage done during the brawl he'd just missed, musing aloud, "Maybe it was a good thing I was late for whatever the hell happened here..."

"That's certainly make things more interesting."

"Well, it's not like I've got much of anything else to do, and I've always been a sucker for a pretty face..." Micerhin raised an eyebrow, leaning in a little as well, "...especially with that grin of yours."

Kupek walked away as quietly as his mekka would allow, desperately hoping that he wouldn't draw the ire of Laon, Xin, or the pub owner. Instead, he moved his mekka over to the corner, disembarked, and flew with his tiny wings over to Faris. He leaned in between her and Micerhin, interrupting their conversation.

"They don't look too happy, Kupo." he whispered to the Viera. Feeling eyes on the back of his head, he looked over his shoulder and noticed Macedin, blinked, then looked back to Faris.

"This guy seems like a slippery character, Kupo." He whispered once more, jabbing his thumb over his shoulder.

"So, what should we do now?" Lufia asked while righting a few knocked over chairs to her side.

"So, what should we do now?"

"If I had to take a guess, we simply sit around and wait for them to give us our mission." Raidou began, before sighing. "Possibly discipline us for getting into a quarrel with the local mercenaries over trivial matters. Either way, I would say today we're off to a bad start." he commented, before lifting his head from the table and looking to Lufia.

"By the way... You're some sort of magician, yet you use such a seemingly-heavy weapon. How can you manage that?"

"It's heavy alright," Lufia said, "As for how I move it... I concentrate a little bit of magic power to temporarily give me the strength to lift or swing it. I kinda figured out the trick in school through a random fluke and I don't know if it can be classified as a special skill or anything."

"I suppose if one person can do it, then others could potentially master the ability. However, if it was through more of a mistake than anything else, then discovering the way to do it would be quite difficult i'd figure..." he commented, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms.

"Nevertheless, i've seen magicians, but never one with a weapon like that." he commented. Looking at his own Cutlass, he was glad that he was on her good side for now. He couldn't see how a flimsy blade like his could really match up. Then again, in a fight, it all came down to the kind of skills the combatants possessed and how they used them.

"If you don't mind me asking, where are you from? I figure if i'm going to travel with you guys someplace, I may as well get to know everyone."

"Well, White Mages sometimes carry maces instead of wands just so thay can stand a chance in melee combat," Lufia explained, "Once I figured out I could do this trick, I just ended up going one level above and taking a hammer. It's a slower weapon, but if it hits, it sure does damage."

"If you don't mind me asking, where are you from? I figure if i'm going to travel with you guys someplace, I may as well get to know everyone."

"Oh, I don't mind. I'm from the country of Sasun, specifically from the town of Egora."

"Kailan of the House Stroll from Abuge..." Kai said for benefit of everyone wanted to know... "Nice to meet you all by the way..."

He avoided to comment how wrong he felt about a girl with an hammer...

"How many times is this now?"

Raidou looked to Sendis, before hitting his head. "Did I forget to ask you where you were from? Sorry about that." he apologized. He then turned his attention back to Lufia.

"Yeah... You appear to have embraced the whole aspect of physical combat rather well. Have any of your other magical abilities suffered as a result of mastering the weapon, or are they relatively balanced?" he asked.

"Oh, I don't mind. I'm from the country of Sasun, specifically from the town of Egora."

"I see... Don't think i've been there quite yet. I believe Oria is the first continent i've ever traveled to. However, a lack of funds have kept me stranded here, so... Well, here I am. I have my other reasons for being here, but they're not important. In any event, the name is Raidou. Raidou Makoto the Third, from the town of Fokau. It's a relatively quiet place now, but we're well known for making powerful weapons and armor." he commented. He took great pride in their business.

"Kailan of the House Stroll from Abuge... Nice to meet you all by the way..."

"Ah... You sound like another noble... Are you perhaps related to Miss Sendis in any way?" he asked, turning to Kailan.

"Not as far as I know..." He replied sincerely... "Is she from Abuge too?"

Then he shrugged... "However, yes I can be considered a noble, but not the heir of my House... That honor belongs to my little brother..."

"I don't think my magic spells have been weakened by not using a magic weapon. The fact that all of my spells are healing-based probably helps too," Lufia replied, neglecting to mention that it could possibly kill the power of any third level spell. But, she couldn't cast third level spells, so she didn't care.

"Dani Coulter," Dani piped in, "Also from Sasun, though I'm originally from Aurora. And they actually recommended at the academy for White Mages to learn to use some kind of weapon worth more than a magic rod in battle, since they don't get spells that do much offensively until much later on... unless you count damaging undead." she shrugged. "At least, that's what they said in my white classes. As a Red Mage, I don't need to worry about that quite as much."

"This guy seems like a slippery character, Kupo."

"Slippery?" Mac pulled back, sounding insulted as he picked up Kupek's whispers, "You wound me... I'm no more slippery than the wind is solid, reguardless of whatever misdeeds I've pulled in the past."
"Now," Mac looked the moogle in the eye, "I know the ravishing madamme Faris' name, but I don't know yours, Mr. Moogle. Mine's Micerhin. Micerhin Aldchekal Carothver. My friends call me 'Mac.'"

He paused, a soft smirk crossing his face, "But madamme Faris here can call me whatever she likes."

"She could be from Abuge... I wouldn't know." he shrugged. Listening to the comment about him being one of the nobles, Raidou heaved a sigh and turned away. Being a noble meant usually being very rich: Something that he and the rest of the family was not. After several moments, he put a smile on and nodded. Perhaps he wouldn't have noticed the somewhat displeased look he wore on his face moments before.

"Fokau? SO you're all the way from there, I see. I've heard interesting stories about that place."

"Heh... it appears that people have heard about my homeland, but i've not heard much about theirs. But yes, I hail all the way from Fokau. My dad's one of the best weaponsmiths in the area... However, last I checked we were running out of good materials to use. I suppose them opening up their ports to trade with the world was a smart thing. However, i'm after legendary weapons... Which is what led me to become something of a Legend Hunter." he spoke. Tedious work it was, but surely the rewards would pay off.

"I don't think my magic spells have been weakened by not using a magic weapon. The fact that all of my spells are healing-based probably helps too,"

He then turned to Sendis. "Ah, so you're one of those 'White Mages' and not one of those 'Black Mages' I heard a few stories of. I see... Pardon my asking, but do you charge for your healing services?" he asked. Her earlier comment told him that she would say yes, but he figured he might as well ask the question anyway to see if there was a different response.

"Dani Coulter. Also from Sasun, though I'm originally from Aurora. And they actually recommended at the academy for White Mages to learn to use some kind of weapon worth more than a magic rod in battle, since they don't get spells that do much offensively until much later on... unless you count damaging undead. At least, that's what they said in my white classes. As a Red Mage, I don't need to worry about that quite as much."

The voice belonged to someone he had yet to speak to. Turning to the girl, he nodded. "You know my name already, so there's no need to say it again. So... You're a Red Mage? Sorry for asking, but how many classes of Mage are there, and what do they focus on? I've heard of Black and White being offensive and healing, but that's it."

"Well, there are five schools of what's referred to as 'color magic,'" Dani said. "Black and White are straight offense and healing, especially at low levels, though white gets protection and some damage later on, and Black gets some harmful effect spells. Red magic is a balance between Black and White, and Red Mages also train with weapons and some armor, so we're better in physical combat. We're not quite as good at magic or fighting as specialists, though." She paused to let that be digested. "Green Magic is a fairly modern school, compared to the others. Most of the spells that are now considered Green were once grouped with Black or White, and all of them are effect magic - Green Mages can strengthen themselves and their allies, or weaken enemies. They just don't do as much direct damage or healing as the other colors, so they often carry maces or hammers too. The last color is Blue, and Blue Magic is nothing like any of the others..." She paused again, ordering her thoughts. This was one of her particular interests, so sometimes she got a bit gushy about it. "Blue Magic contains spells for damage, healing, defense, and effect that are at least on par with the best spells of the other classes," she said, "But of course, there's a catch. You can't learn Blue Magic from books - only from monsters, and only by being hit with the spells and surviving. Sometimes that means you have to trick a monster into healing you, or you need some magic to keep a death spell from finishing you." She frowned. "Blue Mages are extremely rare, and the academy doesn't teach Blue Magic; they only have a few reference books on it." She waited again, for the man to catch up. "Outside of Color Magic, there are other kinds as well, but the only other one that was taught at the Academy is Time Magic. It's only available to advanced students, though. From what I understand, it involves manipulating space-time; it can do teleportation, slow down your enemies, mostly effect stuff like that, but there are a couple of heavy-hitting spells too. Like the one that drops a meteor on your enemy."She looked over at Lufia. "Am I forgetting anything?"
