"That goes for the rest of you!" "Yes ma'am," Micerhin grinned, giving off a slight salute as he started out of the bar, tossing two Gil on the bar as a tip. Almost as bossy as Aggy... he shook his head slightly, a few memories drifting back to him. |

"Yeesh, some people..." Zereal muttered to himself as he stood, taking one last long pull on his mead before setting the empty mug back down on the table. As he headed for the door, he reached into his pack and tossed a leather pouch to the owner. "Sorry about the mess." As he headed outside, the older man and his daughter (who was one of the barmaids) opened the pouch, and were rewarded by the gleam of finely cut red rubies inside. |

"Alright! That's enough out of all of you! It's time to head out and nobody is leaving the damn bar yet." "You- outside now! That goes for the rest of you!" Rai turned his head and looked towards Fari shouting out orders. Admittedly, they had been there for longer than he hoped. The first to leave was none other than the man that had recently joined their group. Hiking his shoulders, the Fighter turned, dropped his pouch containing the last bit of gil he possessed onto the counter, and proceeded to exit the bar, hands in his pants pockets. From here onward, it was his time to think. "One can only wonder if this assignment will be difficult or not. I've seen my fair share of a Goblin since landing here... However, they are troublesome to deal with in large numbers." he thought, before he casted quick glances at the others. "With our numbers, however, I suppose the odds are evened out. The real challenge is..." he continued, before he casted a quick glance at Mic. Turning away, he scowled. "... How well we work together, if at all possible." |

As the party exits the tavern, they find that the city's normally busy streets have taken on a somewhat different tone during their brief absence. The usual tangle of people have been replaced by empty cobbles, as they have formed a ring around the center of the street you might otherwise associate with a passing leper. The source is plain to see; a pale, stick-thin man with a rather odd sense of fashion and a pair of thick, wide-rimmed glasses paces back and forth across the pathway, a thick book clenched tightly in one hand and strip of paper held out in the other. "Hmmm... hmm hmm hmm~.... is this not the intended destination? Their note implies they waited somewhere near here, but there is no sign of a band of adventurers..." Too busy reading the note in front of him, he wanders several steps past the party as he continues to converse with himself. "A red herring, mayhap? Disappointing, disappointing..." He stops suddenly, his left hand crushing the note as his back quickly straightens. "Wait wait wait! This is..?" He turns suddenly, his eyes, or at least his glasses, fixing their gaze upon those gathered outside the tavern. "...a beginning! Yes!" Half floating, half shuffling, he maneuvers his way to the group's front before dipping into a long bow, catching the rim of his glasses as his body levels horizontally. Swinging back up in a rush, he shows off a lopsided smile and surmises, "...group 7, I assume?" |

Faris nodded slightly as everyone shuffled out the doors and she glanced back towards the bar owner as they caught "Z's" pouch. She cocked her eyebrow slightly and shook her head. "Here's for my tab.." she spoke to the bar keep, dropping a few gil down on the counter. Straightening her belt slightly, the Viera made her way out and stopped when she noticed an odd looking young man wobble by. 'These days, young people have no problem acting as they see fit instead of how they should...' she thought, shaking her silver locks out of her face. Suddenly the boy turned. "...group 7, I assume?" Her visible eye widened and she shut it tightly then. "Our group takes all kinds apparently..." she mumbled and walked forward. "That's us.. and you are?" |

"Wow, a lot of stragglers today," Laon muttered as he rubbed the back of his neck. He nodded to the skinny newcomer. "Alright then, welcome to the group." He raised his voice to address everyone at once. "Okay, according to our official route, we head south to Ranke, then take the direct road to Kafca; I know it'd be shorter to detour through Marta, but there have been a lot of reports of Goblin attacks along the long road, so we're going to see about pushing them back to their barrows in the Kafcan Forest. Now let's move out!" "...Before anyone else tries to join us," Xin commented almost inaudibly. |

"Alright then, welcome to the group." "Much obliged, my friend," Micerhin replied, nodding slightly. Besides... I made a promise. I may be many things, but I'm not a liar. he paused in that train of thought, Ok, ok, I don't do big lies. Right. That works. Faris watched the newcomer for a few moments before turning her attention back to her commander. Now let's move out!" At the mention of the Kafcan forest, Faris seemed to stiffen. They'd be shoving the goblins back into her homeland. She closed her eyes and forced herself to breathe, know that it didn't mean much, that her family could still be fine. The silver haired woman shook her head and straightened herself once more. Nearby she heard Mac speak; "Well, I have to admit I've not yet been to Kafca yet, It can't hurt to go somewhere new... especially when a job is taking me there." She smiled slightly at his words. "It's a beautiful place, I'm sure you'll enjoy it." she bit her lip slightly, keeping the words 'If it's still standing,' only on the tip of her tongue. She shook her head then, and looked off. "C'mon, we do have a long trek ahead of us." |

"Sendis Lancaster of Glasno," "Pleased to-" the moogle began, but the Viera was shouting for them to leave, and in a moment, the rest of the party obeyed. "Yipes!" he blurted and, and he left some gil on a table near the entrance to pay for the chairs he had broken before heading out the door and joining the group. After a moment, a bizare looking newcomer had arrived. "...group 7, I assume?" "ku....po?" Kupek said quietly, taking in the man's appearance. Laon allowed the fellow into the group, and then barked out orders. "Yes sir, Kupo!" the moogle said in response, and the mekka saluted. He then began to march off alongside his team, staying close to Raidou. |

"It's a beautiful place, I'm sure you'll enjoy it." Mac turned to the Viera and winked, "...I dunno, the view I've got right now seems pretty hard to beat. But for now, I'll take your word for it." He paused slightly, something felt... off again - but it was nothing he could begin to place, Naah. It's probably nothing. If it's... important, she'll tell me in time. "C'mon, we do have a long trek ahead of us." "After years of sailing the seas," Micerhin shrugged softly, "the feel of Gaia beneath my feet is a welcome one." |

"...I dunno, the view I've got right now seems pretty hard to beat. But for now, I'll take your word for it." Faris giggled lightly, and looked over to Mac. "And you were saying I laid it on thick?" she smirked and shook her head again. "After years of sailing the seas, the feel of Gaia beneath my feet is a welcome one." "I still can't believe you were a pirate..." she spoke softly glance falling back on him, "You just seem the type..." the Viera paused for a moment and looked him over again. "Scratch that, you don't seem like a very good pirate." Faris smirked lightly at him again. |

"I still can't believe you were a pirate..." "How'd yo..." Mac was about to ask, then realized she'd put two and two together as soon as he'd mentioned piracy 'needing some skill.' I really should watch what I say someday. he thought, shaking his head at how quickly that secret essentially vanished in a puff of smoke. Micerhin paused for a few minutes after that, wondering what exactly he could tell her immediately and what he'd have to leave off for much later. If anything. Certainly not that. Or her. Well... "You just seem the type... Scratch that, you don't seem like a very good pirate." "Well the crew wasn't exactly typical, I must admit," Mac replied slowly, recalling the five years he'd spent on the seas and sifting through what he could freely mention without any of the more... lawful members of the party trustin him even less than they probably already did, "But I'll admit, I wasn't the best cabin boy around." "First mate, though..." he muttered softly, not sure how to describe much of anything on that last year. |

"How'd yo..." A slow smirk crossed her features and she glanced away. Really, she'd been around the world too, did he really think she wouldn't figure it out. Shaking her head slightly she turned her attention back towards him. "Well the crew wasn't exactly typical, I must admit, But I'll admit, I wasn't the best cabin boy around." She replied with a soft hum and nodded her head. "I'm gonna assume by you saying they weren't a 'typical' crew, that you're actually saying they were more like noble saviors for the surrounding ports that you always visited..." Images of Mac standing gallantly on the deck of a boat, fighting off nasty looking monster-type pirates from port towns. It caused her to giggle slightly and she bit her lip again. Her ear twitched when she heard his mumblings; "First mate, though..." "Hm? You got all the way to first mate?" now he really had her attention. "What was it like?" |

"I'm gonna assume by you saying they weren't a 'typical' crew, that you're actually saying they were more like noble saviors for the surrounding ports that you always visited..." Oh, crap... Mac thought inwardly, realizing she was getting the wrong idea entirely. "...well... I... no, not quite..." he explained, feeling a little foolish for his past actions, "We were like a family and ready to die for one another... but we also spent our days pillaging and raiding just about everything you can imagine." Pausing and shaking his head, Micerhin ran a hand through his hair and sighed, ...and here we go. "My first Captain loved to fight just about everything that moved, so you can guess how fun that was. He was just... a ball of rage. Even for a Bangaa. The First Mate took over for him and basically ran everything like it was his own personal military and we were little more than slaves." his voice dropping low, Mac continued, "...and then there was a little mutiny after six months of terror... and I sorta found myself First Mate to a-" he froze up for a split-second, trying to sort things out and figure out how to lie without lying, "-really close friend, who became the Captain herself." "Hm? You got all the way to first mate? What was it like?" "Well..." Mac hemmed and hawed a touch, his mind frantically trying to figure out what to say. |

"...well... I... no, not quite... We were like a family and ready to die for one another... but we also spent our days pillaging and raiding just about everything you can imagine." Faris tilted her head slightly, a small smile spreading over her face. "Hm... I figured you weren't the good-type of pirate," she sighed softly and watched him. "Still, it must have been nice to have people that were so close to you..." somewhere in the back of her mind, the woman remember his previous words of not actually having any family before, and her smile softened more. "Must have been hard to leave them..." "My first Captain loved to fight just about everything that moved, so you can guess how fun that was. He was just... a ball of rage. Even for a Bangaa. The First Mate took over for him and basically ran everything like it was his own personal military and we were little more than slaves. ...and then there was a little mutiny after six months of terror... and I sorta found myself First Mate to a-" The Viera nodded lightly, listening to all Micerhin had to say about his past. This is what she wanted to know back in the bar. What had caused him to be shaped into the man he was now. She felt a slight flutter in her stomach as he shared so much and turned her head to watch him talk. When he suddenly pause though, the silver haired woman felt goosebumps raise on her arm and she carefully watched his expression change. He was holding something back... "-really close friend, who became the Captain herself." 'Herself?!' her mind sputtered to a stop and her jaw tighten instantly, "Herself?" Faris echoed her thoughts louder than she meant, and her visible eye thinned. "You were the first mate to a female captain?" |

"Still, it must have been nice to have people that were so close to you..." "...that it was," Micerhin smiled softly, a memories being dredged up, "A lot of me really wanted to stay with them and spend the rest of my life on the open sea, I must admit. But there was something else I just had to do, even if I didn't even know what it was." "Must have been hard to leave them..." "...some more than others," he admitted softly, glancing off to the western sky for a few seconds before reverting his gaze to the road in front of them all. "Herself?" Uh-oh. Not good. "You were the first mate to a female captain?" Biting his lip for a second, Mac looked at Faris' reaction and realized that there was no way he'd be able to talk his way out of this bullet. Sighing heavily, Mac spoke up, "Yeah, a Captain Aggy Fillaenr." |

She watched him sigh before uttering; "Yeah, a Captain Aggy Fillaenr." The Viera's ears twitched suddenly and her eyes widened some before thinning again. "Ah... I've-" she bit the inside of her cheek and looked away from him, "I've seen her once..." 'On a wanted poster,' she wanted to (bitterly) add but kept the words to herself. "So, that's who you use to work for." Faris said in a clipped voice, "That's nice." She didn't want to know anymore suddenly and she started to walk away from him. His previous words poured back into her mind and the silver haired woman started to tighten up some. "That's nice." Faris repeated bitterly for no reason. |

"Yes yes yes. Driving into the heart of the enemy, such is the nature of this quest." He nods enthusiastically, as if giving his approval to the knight commander's orders. "Of course, such a task requires the right cast of characters..." He leans over and peers directly into the faces of those closest to him. "Hmm... lovable scoundrels, undisciplined but well meaning up-and-comers, chivalrous knights, laid back mercenaries and..." He glances at Kupek. "A mascot? Odd. This did not appear to be the kind of adventure that would require a mascot. These do sound to be the marauding kind of Goblins, after all, rather than the comical or mischievous type. Then again, it does appear to be a very expensive mascot. A suit such as this must cost much more than an entire mountain of books." He pokes Kupek, and begins circling Moogle, prodding the armor's joints. "It is a strange mechanism though. How does it work? Magical enchantment? Clockwork gears? Or does this Moogle simply possess Herculean strength? Indeed, it is very very puzzling..." |

"Ah... I've- I've seen her once..." "...ah," was all Micerhin could bring himself to say, realization dawning on him, "I... oh." "So, that's who you use to work for. That's nice." Mac's eyebrow twitched slightly as Faris turned around and started to walk off even faster than before. Mac had a feeling something like this would happen... but he had hoped it would have been later rather than sooner. "Listen-" "That's nice." "I..." Mac ran a hand through his hair, sighing again and trying to figure out what he could even begin to say. Nothing was coming to mind... and he knew that telling the full truth would likely get him into even more trouble than before. After all, Faris didn't seem like she was in a listening mood. "...so you've seen her?" he asked, his voice flat as he walked at a greater distance than usual, "How have the past 12 years been for her, anyhow?" |

"Hey, wait-wha...what's the big deal, kupo? I'm no mascot! I'm Kupek!" He watched the newcomer circle him, and the mekka's head trailed Tip's movements. "It is a strange mechanism though. How does it work? Magical enchantment? Clockwork gears? Or does this Moogle simply possess Herculean strength? Indeed, it is very very puzzling..." The fellow had a strange sense of speaking, and Kupek couldn't help but begin to wonder just what kinds of people had been gathered by the King's assignment. Though he decided he would watch the newcomer as closely as he was planning to watch Z and Mac, he also knew that a hero's friend's could sometimes be very quirky, too. He wouldn't do anything to jeopardize a possible friendship. "It's probably closer to clockwork gears, kupo." The moogle said brightly in that odd voice his armor gave him. "The arms are controlled by levels. Depending on what I push, pull or twist, I can control even the fingers, kupopo." The mekka lifted it's arm, wiggled the fingers on it's hand, then clenched it's fist, as demonstration. "It used to belong to my father. He made it to help himself work in the human world." The mekka tilted it's head to the side slightly. "I...um didn't catch your name, kupo." |

"I... ...so you've seen her? How have the past 12 years been for her, anyhow?" The Viera closed her eyes softly and she forced herself to let out a slow breathe. 'So, he still wanted to talk about that woman...?' She felt her anger start to bubble up again but she forced another breathe out. 'Think, Faris!' the woman thought and she opened her eyes again, 'Why are you getting so worked up? It's not like you had anything invested with Micerhin...' the small voice seemed to poke at her. It was true that Faris couldn't exactly figure out why she'd become so upset, but... Even if they just met, that doesn't mean he should start reminiscing about past relationships. 'But you don't even know if he was really with her,' her mind quipped back. The silver haired woman sighed deeply again and looked over towards Mac. She didn't want to discuss anything else with him but- "She's looked fine in the poster I saw her in." she bit the inside of her cheek again, keeping her anger in check. "She was very pretty too." |

"She's looked fine in the poster I saw her in." "...a wanted poster, huh?" Micerhin raised an eyebrow then shook his head, looking away from Faris, "I had a feeling something like that would happen eventually. She never did keep a cool head at all times, relied too much on her own force of will and strength." "She was very pretty too." ...that's why... the lightbulb in Mac's head went off, realizing exactly why Faris was acting like this. "Like I said, I've not seen her in a good twelve years. What happened between myself and her is... in the past." he admitted, trying to word things apropriately, "I left of my own accord, Faris. Aggy was certainly a looker... but there was nothing else there. I couldn't bring myself to lie to her any more, but it looks like things just went worse." "Those words I said to you about an hour ago..." he spoke up again a little later, "...I never said them to her, you know." |

"Huh... So we've picked up yet another willing-and-able combatant... I wonder if there'll be any others to approach us in the future." Unlike the other 2 straggler's their group had managed to pick up, this one seemed... Well, genuinely nice. However, there was still something about him that the Fighter couldn't quite pin. |
