The man who destroys worlds and creates worlds

Story: Year 172 of the New Century Calendar. As humanity continues to grow and expand, the people hope that the conflicts of old will die out, leading to a new era of peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, that is not to be.
The small nation of Glasno has had a long-standing rivalry with the much larger and more prosperous Zamas, stemming from a terrible war that occurred just after the forming of the new calendar. The people of Glasno feel that they were denied prosperity because of Zamas' victory, but were always held in check because of Zamas' wealth of natural resources, holding off war for centuries. However, the discovery of a mithral vein within Glasno's borders has bolstered their spirits; a mere decade after the mine's creation, the small nation has openly declared war against Zamas.
To make matters worse, there has been an uprising of the savage races that inhabit the forests of the main continent, and they turn their eyes - and their weapons - towards Zamas. With the military occupied by the war, King Nolan puts out a call for help. Now a motley connection of adventurers, freelancers, and rogues make their way to the capital city of Agol, their thoughts focused on dealing with the goblin threat...but none of them yet suspect that there may be more sinister forces at work...

On this day, Ignis 7 172, I, King Nolan XI of of Zamas, put forth on this day the call to all able-bodied warriors.
In this time of great despair, when our nation has entered war with the nation of Glasno, we have had the great misfortune of coming under attack from the Goblin race and their allies. These creatures ravage our land and attack our people who, unable to defend themselves, are resigned to a fate most tragic. Because of the war, the nation's military is otherwise occupied, which unfortunately allows the Goblins to run rampant across our great country.
And so I put forth the call to all hale and hardy warriors who are not an active part of our military, asking them to support us in our time of need. If you wish to aid our country, come to the town square of Agol in one month's time, where we shall organize a defensive effort against the marauding creatures. All those who accept this mission will be well paid, with all expenses covered. However, be warned that your safety is your own concern; if you do not feel that you can survive such a battle, you need not participate.
With this I remain your proud leader,
King Nolan XI

Rules:
1) The game takes place in an original world that draws from all of Final Fantasy, but most especially the Ivalice Alliance. Therefore, if you want inspiration, you're better off looking at the Tactics and XII games than the others.
2) Please keep serious; this is not 8-Bit Theatre.
3) Don't worry about ability gain and such. This is not a stated RPG. The ability lists mainly exist to delineate what your character can and can't do. If you want to gain abilities, work it out with me.
4) Limit Breaks will be in, but they'll basically be dramatically appropriate desperation attacks, to be unleashed at special moments (such as the death of a mentor, a do-or-die situation, etc.).
5) As the GM, I reserve the exclusive right to write and determine the path of the game world. Do NOT attempt to insert plot elements that affect the game world beyond your character without my express permission.
6) If you're interested in doing something a little different than what's listed, talk to me (either via IM or PM) and we'll work things out. This includes things like unique weapons, classes I may have forgotten, or plotline elements.
7) The story will begin in Agol, the capitol of Zamas. All characters will be a part of the mercenaries hired to fight the Goblins, and thus should have an in-character reason for joining. Of course, you don't HAVE to follow this rule, but your character will probably be introduced later on.

"How many times is this now?"

Name: Raidou Makoto the Third
Race: Human
Nationality: Ziga; from the city of Fokau
Job: Fighter -> Samurai
Description: Stands at 5’5” and weighs 156 lbs. Has dark blue hair, as well as brown eyes. Has a slightly lean build with small hints of muscle tone here and there, especially in the legs. Occasionally wears loose clothing unless he expects a fight to happen soon. Otherwise he wears a light chainmail shirt.
History: Raidou is a human born on the island of Ziga. Due to the Isolationism the island had practiced, he knew little of the outside world or what dangers it possessed. His father, Raidou Makoto the Second, realized that his son’s interest in the outside world would show itself sooner or later, so he began to train him. From a very young age, the son was trained to prepare for any threat the outside world would pose. When the day came that Ziga would open it’s borders to the outside world, Raidou the Third bid his family farewell and set off on his own.

As he eventually learned, the outside world was not a kind place. However, with his fathers training and his iron will, he remained strong. Wandering around, he heard many great stories… Stories that spoke of powerful weapons and great beasts. In time, he began to pursue these legends in order to have a worthy adventure to recite to his family back home.
Personality: A calm and collected warrior (mostly), Raidou attempts to pick his battles well. Despite a few harsh run-ins with life outside the island, he has grown accustomed to the norm. Never again will he refer to a Bangaa as a lizard… He holds a special likeness for stories and legends, taking them as truth. More to it, he attempts to seek them out and prove their existence, which occasionally puts him on the road to danger.

He has trouble adapting to life outside of Ziga, and even his calm exterior tends to crack. He appears to have a deep-rooted hatred for Thieves, though he never shows it until one announces what they officially are.
Weapon: Cutlass
Skills:
Action: Accumulate, Yell, Rush
Reaction: Weapon Block
Support:
Limit Break: Slice and Dice: Focusing energy into the Cutlass, Raidou charges forward and delivers several rapid slashes to the foe, before delivering a single strike through their midsection.

Name: Zereal Ramian

Race: Human

Nationality: Pinish

Job: Knight

Description: Tall and slender with messy red red hair and emerald eyes, with a long scar over his right eye. Tends to wear a long tan cloak and crimson scarf over a short-sleeved shirt, long pants bound with leather straps, and boots that hit mid-calf.

History: Little is known about the mysterious man known as Zereal Ramian; he was orphaned at an early age and taken in by a Pinish family with a tradition of knighthood. However, after several years of training, he ran away from the family and struck out on his own. Some time later, he turned up as a mercenary with a reputation for success as well as morals (a rarity among mercenaries). However, many people have a very hard time connecting the feared Crimson Blade with the lazy, flirtatious goofball often found half-asleep in local taverns and inns...

Personality: Zereal is typically scatter-brained and disconnected, often times seeming like he's not paying attention to the situation at hand. He frequently naps and has a fondness for the drink. His actions towards women fall somewhere between chivalry and lechery (but never outright perversion). However, all this is part of his ruse, which he uses to make people underestimate him. Deep down he's an honestly good and decent person, but he's become somewhat used to playing the fool after years of its producing results.

Favored Weapon: Longsword with shield worn on his left arm

Skills: Rend Power, Shellbust Stab, Hellcry Punch

Limit Break: Dark Star (sheathes his sword, gathers power, then delivers a series of five quick slashes, which leave an inverted-star-shaped hole in the enemy)

Part Magician, Part Logician, Part Idiot

Name: Dani Coulter
Race: Human
Nationality: Sasun
Job: Red Mage (-> Blue Mage)
Description: Fairly short and with a boyish figure, Dani has black hair worn in a ponytail and fair skin, with blue eyes. She wears a standard red mage wide-brimmed hat (with black band and white feather) and cloak/robe. Underneath, she wears a white linen blouse with a collar and slightly puffy sleeves, plus a brown vest and tan riding pants. She also wears high boots and a belt in black leather. She usually wears either a red cravat or a bolo tie. Some trim and buckles on the outfit are gold.
As a blue mage, the vest is red, the cloak is blue, the hat is close to FFTA Blue Mage style, and the cravat is blue or black. She also has a blue domino mask with lenses that she rarely wears.
History: Dani Coulter was born in Aurora, the daughter of a merchants. Her parents had no particular magical ability, but seeing that their daughter had both an aptitude for it and a deep interest, provided for her to attend the academy in Egora. While there, she became particularly interested in Blue magic, though since it wasn't among the subjects taught at the school, she studied Red magic instead. This choice came from a desire to have a balance between magic and body and between offense and defense. Once she completed the basic program, she became a journeyman, and headed to Zamas to gain field experience. She held great admiration for Lady Celesta Zenia, and has the lifelong aspiration of following in her footsteps as ruler of Sasun.
Favored Weapon: Light Swords, some experience with bows, spears, and whips.
Limit Break: Critical Eye (she uses her ability of analysis to deliver a critical attack to the opponent’s weak point)
Skills Known: Thunder, Poison, Shell, Protect, Esuna (Subject to change; possible replacement of Esuna with Cure and/or addition of another attacking spell)

Name: Sendis Lancaster
Race: Human
Nationality: Glasno
Job: Knight -> Dragoon

Description: A young woman of average height, coming in at 5'7" and 124 pounds, and modest bust. Clad head to toe in shiny full plated mail with a wolf theme, and scarlet doublet. A scarlet half cape sits on the armour's right shoulder. She has fair, untanned skin, brown eyes and brown hair that she keeps tied up.

History: Sendis hails from the Lancaster family, a minor noble family involved in mining. As a girl she was trained in the noble pursuits of fine literature, equestrianism and what not. As a young woman she joined the Society of Sensation as her even with her family's relatively low wealth amongst the nobility, Sendis had no real need or want for a job or career. The Society, also known by it's informal name the Sensates, is a posh club for bored nobles. The purpose is to experience new things and then regal the other members tales of new experiences. Some would say that it is a shallow venture, but admittedly the Society was founded with shallow intent in mind.

It was with the Sensates that she pursued martial lessons and learned the art of the blade. Having recently completed her martial tutelage she has decided to venture out into the world in search of new sensation. Sendis has come to the conclusion, perhaps after hearing too many stories about warfare and mercenaries, that the life of a Sell Sword will do her well for the next little while.

As such she has left Glasno and ventured to Zamas.

Favoured Weapon: A short spear with the Lancaster family coat of arms tied to the shaft, and a short sword.

Limit Break: Sky Smasher Blade: Using her spear Sendis hits her foe with such force she actually sends them into the air. Leaping up she spins and slashes them with her short sword, before spearing them and slamming them into the ground.

Skills Known: Cover, Rend Power, Hellcry Punch.

Name: Lufia Arcsys
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Nationality: Sasun, born in Egora
Job: White Mage ----> Paladin
Description: A girl with green eyes and long flowing blue hair. Wears the traditional White Mage styled 'White with Red Triangles' robes. Under the White Mage robes, Lufia wears a skirted leather armor.
History: Since she was born to a family adept at magic, ever since she was young, Lufia had high aspirations to become a White Mage. Aside from the high pay that was given to people who could heal others, she loved the fact that she could help many people with the skill. She worked hard to attain that goal, but one final thing eventually stood in her way. After an examination to get into the Egora Academy, it was found that she did not have enough magical potential to learn anything beyond Level 2 spells. She would not be able to learn all the spells that a White Mage could learn. Crushed by the information, but still intent on learning healing magic, Lufia joined the academy to be a White Mage anyway. In addition to the magic training, Lufia received combat training with a heavy hammer.

A few months after her training, Lufia is now traveling the world as a healer for hire.
Personality: Kind hearted and slightly silly at times. She still holds a sense of honesty and honor and will not accept a job from anyone that she deems suspicious or doesn't agree with, no matter the pay. She also has a habit of calling spells by basic name and level number (Cure, Cure 2, Cure 3, etc.) rather than their proper names. In battle, even if she's the DESIGNATED HEALER, she often ends up rushing into the fight.
Weapon: Hammer, Polearm
Starting Skills: Cure, Cura, Esuna, Regen
Limit Break: Shooting Star Strike: A special ability loosly based off of the ability known as Jump for Dragoons, but with the ability to hit multiple times. Lufia throws her weapon up and takes to the air with a magic assisted jump. Catching it in mid-air and flipping to increase the momentum, she comes down on a target with a devastating attack. Using magic again, she then launches herself up again immediately after the hit, coming down on a different target or onto the same one again. If she gets her timing and balance right, she can get two to five hits in.

Almost as good as Lowe ^_^
Name: Kailan Stroll
Race: Human
Nationality: Abuge
Job: Knight -> Magick Knight

Description: A pale black haired 19 YO knight that shows the side effect of being raised in a swampy area... 177 cm, 65 kg he has a low tune voice and distant eyes... He may be considered a pretty guy, but actually he turns up protective istincts on girls...

History: While he actually was the firstborn, his unhealthy look made his parents chose to let his younger brother to be the heir of the family manor and title and suggested Kai to become an errant knight... Despite all appearances he was happy for the choice, since he saw it as their caring for him...
They forced him to leave, almost kicking he out of house, as the first undeads were seen in the swamps around the manor, once beautiful fields blessed by crops and flowers... He sadly left, promising to himself to return when he had become stronger to help his family, and started to travel around the world...

Personality: He understimate himself a lot, always feeling inferior to his real skills and having an inferiority complex about his brother... That's mostly due to his appearance, that makes him look as just recovering from a serious illness and had him gain the motherly attention of almost every girl he met... Barred that he's a nice person, always trying to help and refusing immoral acts like torture and slaughter... (He tends to look away with stealing, since he knows that some people don't have other chances to live...)
He's pretty much friendly in his own way, sadly his creepy sense of humour sometimes doesn't help...
Always polite he's a bit sexist, thinking that younger girls always need to be protected, at least when they're smaller than him...

Weapon: Dual Swords...

Skills: Rend Power, Rend Speed, Blastar Punch

Limit Break: Dragon Howling: Kailan crosses his swords in front of him before jumping toward his target madly roaring and continously slashing, kicking, punching him to the sky before delivering a double vertical slash to slam the poor target on the ground...

I've got a character in mind for this... but three things stand in my way.

One is my dead computer, which will make posting very difficult... I swear, it's always something with your rps, Amuro. You know I actually planned my Journeyman character out to the point that I prepared a picture of him, but never got to scan it and type out his bio.

Another is the obvious one: the game is already starting without me.

The last problem is my character idea itself. I'm thinking of a sort of non-standard summoner, whose power lies in versatility rather the the brute strength of a generic summon. In short, he's a slightly off, scrawny bookworm who can draw creatures, characters and items from the pages of a novel. This wouldn't be done grab-bag style, as we can predetermine a summarized plot for each book, which will also state summons available from it... and limiting his access to new books is certainly an easy enough way to balance him. What do you think?

The computer thing I can't help with, but as for joining don't worry about it. We can set something up; if you want him to join early, we can just pull the standard RPG bit for an absent player (saying he's there but just playing on) until you can join for real, or we can have him join along the way. Either one is okay by me.

I gotta say, though, that character concept is extremely interesting and cool. If you're looking for a name, how about something like "Pagemaster" or "Wordcrafter" or "Storyteller"? I can work out some abilities and skills and we can see where to take it from there.

Cool, I'll see if I can't use my girlfriend's computer to type something out, and I can have him join later(introductions are a blast so I'll avoid the retcon...).

As for a class name... Storyteller sounds good. Especially since I'm running off the idea that he's a coward who manages to do brave things by imagining it's all happenning to some character in a book. The other ideas sound too formal for that. XD

It seems similar to Relm, only with books instead of pictures, and she's listed as a Pictomancer, so maybe Libromancer. Tho that sounds formal, so any of the others would work as common names or instead.

For some reason, I get the image in my head of Claus from Tales of Symphonia pulling out a book and flipping through it before pulling a summon... Just in ZetaStriker's character's case, it would be writing and drawing.

*KUPEK JOINED THE PARTY!*

Posted Image

Name: Kupek Moguru
Race: Moogle
Nationality: Zamas, from the city of Ranke
Job: Chemist
Description: ((See image above))
Weapon: Mekka Armor
Skills: Mix, Throw Item, First Aid
Limit Break: Bomb Punch (Kupek reels the arm of his Mekka backwards, palming a bomb in his hand before delivering an explosive punch to his enemy).

Personality: Innocent and somewhat naďve, Kupek nonetheless has a strong sense of honor and loyalty that cannot be broken (even if it may get him into trouble from time to time).

History: The eldest son of the famous engineer Kuten Moguru, Kupek and his siblings were raised with stories of the dangerous and exciting adventures their father participated in during his youth. Though his siblings grew tired of the stories as they grew older, Kupek held them dear to his heart, and tinkered in his father’s lab often, imagining adventures of his own. His father nurtured this wonder, and allowed him to rebuild small objects. During this time, his father found himself quite surprised by Kupek's natural talent for it, and was warmed by his son's enthusiasm.

When he came of age, Kupek immediately took up the Chemist class knowing full well that one day the job would be a stepping stone towards his dream. Leaving the comfort of his home city of Ranke to apprentice with a master Chemist who happened to be friend of his fathers, Kupek was surprised when he was given quite the parting gift from his father- the old mog's prized Mekka Armor. Kupek was staying in Agol when word reached him of Kafca's ruin at the hands of Goblins. Angered over increasing battles with Glasno, he took up the call to fight when the king requested it, and left his master’s care with the promise of returning afterwards on his lips. Eager to live out adventures of his own, Kupek throws his whole heart into helping to quell the Goblin threat.

About the Mekka Armor: An original creation of Kuten Moguru, the Mekka armor (usually referred to simply as a "mekka") is an ingenious device cobbled together from pieces of human armor and other machines. Primarily used to help a Moogle interact with the larger world around them, the Mekka is controlled from within the upper torso area via a complicated control system of pulleys, knobs, levers, and pedals. The Mekka is unusable without a vital gear, which Kupek usually wears around his neck like a pendant when he's not inside.

At the Mekka's hip rests a large satchel (larger than Kupek himself) that contains many of the potions and elixirs a chemist needs to create bombs or healing items on the fly. Also, while clearly helpful in defending against injury, the Mekka is no slouch in combat either; it’s got quite the punching power at its disposal. Unfortunately, Kupek’s small frame isn’t always able to keep up with the demands of battle...

(The armors design resembles Worker 8, from Final Fantasy Tactics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ6irLoX3sE )

Name: Faris Bunansa
Race: Viera
Nationality: Zamas; specifically from the area near Kafca
Job: Thief -> Dancer

Description: Taller than most of the humans that she associates with, Faris has long limbs and seems kind of lanky for her size (within the race of Viera). Faris is still extremely attractive to all that meet her and is shaped nicely. Her hair is white, almost silver in color, and reaches the small of her back, with bangs that cover the right side of her face most of the time. Her clothing of choice is usually a very small beige colored tank top, that's tight around her neck, and reveals her stomach. A light brown skirt, with a long slit up one side, completes her standard dancer outfit. A silver belt hangs around her waist and her dagger sheath is hooked on her left hip. If she's not wearing her usual outfit, Faris likes outfits that are revealing but not too scandalous.

History: Being a Viera, her family lived deep in the forest, away from humans and other races. Faris was taught the spiritual ways of communicating with the plants and the land around her village. She was amazed at how many voices seemed to be in such an isolated place and soon found herself yearning to leave her home. Though it should have made her an outcast, her family wished her well and simply asked that she return once she'd had her fill of the outside world.

Once Faris reached Kafca, she became engrossed by the pleasures that many Humans, Bangaa and the other races seemed to enjoy. She found herself learning as much as possible as quickly as she could and traveled across the land of Zamas and into the land of Glasno and everywhere that she could lay her feet on. Many years passed and before she knew it, Faris had been away from her village for over 80 years. On her journey home, Faris began to hear the rumbles of war but ignored it, believing it wasn't worth her time. When she finally reached Zamas again, she learned of the attack from the goblins on Kafca and realized that the war was not something she could ignore any longer.

Personality: To most that meet Faris for the first time, she comes off as very lazy and relaxed. But those she lets get close enough to her, know that she's a very spiritual person that loves sitting quietly by herself to listen to the world speak. She doesn't seem to care much for the upcoming war but when the world's cries of pain become unbearable, Faris decides in an instant to help put a stop to it.

Weapon: Dagger; Baselard

Skills: Steal, Swift Strike, Forward Kick

Limit Break: Appa's Prayer: Faris wraps her arms around herself, and spins in a small circle. A bright light seems to emanate from her body before she charges forward at her enemy and delivers a strong uppercut, her dagger fully extended.

Name: Micerhin Aldchekal Carothver. Goes by Mac, because just trying to pronounce his name is enough to tie his own tongue... to say nothing of others.
Age: 35
Race: Human
Nationality: Zamas
Job: Thief -> Gambler
Description:
Posted Image

History:
Abandoned at a young age for one reason or another, Mac wound up at an orphanage in Marta for some of his life... only to run away around age 13, after robbing the place blind. Not too long after running out of cash, Mac decided to learn the art of thievery... only to find out he really sucked badly. Badly enough to be kicked out of the damned guild.
So, pratically fleeing from Marta, Mac found himself coming across a place that took him - a group of friendly monks. After learning one or two of their techniques, Mac realized he just plain didn't like the work of being a monk, so he ran off during the night - mostly chased off, really, after being cought trying to steal some of their expensive items.
Finally, Mac wandered into another town-whose-name-he-never-bothered-to-learn, one based more around magic and the alchemic arts. While Mac had no talent for magic whatsoever, more able to set himself ablaze than anyone else, he did like messing about with the Chemist's guild...
...though they also tossed him out on his ass once he almost blew up their headquarters late one night. It didn't turn him off to explosives, though - and actually lead him to the next town over, where he found he had an amazing knack for the use of firearms.
Finally having found something that he liked, and was actually good at, Mac applied himself to work at thievery again. And this time, he'd grown up and matured enough to not get caught in the act.
In theory.

Personality:
Generally laid-back, Mac puts on a general show of laziness about life in general, to say nothing of seeming to just... not care, letting life just roll on by. However, this is more or less of a mask put on by Mac most of the time.
His real self? A womanizer who puts tail before his friends and allies.
Hey, no one ever said the emotional mask always had to cover something good.

Favored Weapon: Henry Repeating Rifle (or nearest FF equivalent) with a detachable blade used as a bayonet
Skills: First Aid (the only thing retained from the Chemist...), Spin Fist (the one thing he'd learned from the Monks), Steal Gil, Flee
Limit Break: This is my boomstick!
Mac takes out his rifle and fires rapid-fire seven times. Can either be used in a 'spread' or against a single opponent. Then ends it with a three-hit combo on the last target with the rifle itself.

Name: Tip Knell

Age: 20

Race: Human

Job: Storyteller

Description:

Tall and scrawny, Tip has somehow managed to combine the muscular structure of a toothpick with the awkward posture of a pair of stilts. He's the kind of man that may, for instance, be sent airborne by a slight breeze, or perhaps be carried off by a passing swallow. As if to further emasculate him, the pale white glow might just make him a viable light source on the city's cold, winter nights.

In terms of hair growth, one could has assume that he has an advantage over some other men, simply by virtue of the fact that he has some. Unfortunately, what he does have is a mop of messy curls so tangled that any offending combs invading its territory would likely go the way of the kobold- that is to say, dead.

And beneath that territorial hairline lies Tip's eyes... at least in theory. While he certainly doesn't seem blind(although somewhat oblivious), any evidence of their existence is carefully disguised by a pair of glasses so thick, that it's a wonder he can even see through them. And while this choice of of style is dubious at best, at the very least it stylistically matches his non-standard clothing. A tight, unflattering, tan short sleeved shirt covers his upper body, while a pair of loose fitting, poofy pants hide his legs from view; or at least most of them. Perhaps Zamas just doesn't have enough Tall but Small stores, as his pants seem to come to an abrupt end somewhere just below the knee, tapering off to a point that wraps tightly around his calves. To say that his appearance sets him apart from the usual crowd is somewhat of an understatement.

History:

Tip has always had a borderline obsessive love of books, ever since he was a child. His parents always joked about how he was practically born literate, and considering that he actually taught himself to do so before the age of four, they weren't far from the truth. They thought they had a genius on their hands, but despite their best efforts, they never could get him interested in academics; stories were all he ever cared about. History, fiction, it meant no difference to him; if the story, at its base, was strong, he would pour himself into it like a man possessed.

Not surprisingly, upon reaching adulthood, he opened a library right in the center of the capital... and it was a colossal failure. Possessive to the point of schizophrenia, he tried to force extensive background checks on his potential customers before he'd trust them with any of his treasures. He never rented out one book, and after a while, people just stopped coming.

He stopped going out after that, staying within his library, protected from the outside world by is precious walls of literature. Now and again, large, angry men would come, yelling about overdue payments and money. Absorbed in his stories, he paid them no mind, offering no words to the strangers in his domain. Every time they left, he would find more of his books missing; taken to be sold by the men who had arranged his lease on the building in the first place.

Month by month, his collection continued to dwindle, until finally his fortress of fiction had been reduced to one, last book. When the men returned the next time, they had Tip's full attention. No one is sure exactly what happened, but the library was left in ruins, and those men never bothered anyone ever again.

Before then, he had already been a myth, a phantom, trapped within his hall of learning. Children would dare each other to touch the library walls, and his nickname, The Storyteller, was whispered from ear to ear late in the night. Now, he's become a local legend, a loosed spirit set down upon the mortal earth. And as he makes his way, rather late, to the King's calling, his reputation precedes him...

Personality:

Tip is... well, a little odd. Although his far from the vengeful spirit whispered of around campfires, he seems detached in a way that creates an air of mystery about him. In truth,, he sees the real world as just another of his stories, and reacts to it as such. He plays out what he sees as his 'role', and rarely looks at dangerous situations in the same way as an ordinary man or woman. Still, when backed into a corner, pieces of his true personality begin to shine through: that of a scared, lonely boy who never quite managed to grow up.

Although 'detached from reality' is certainly a good way to describe him, he can actually be very sociable, although most times it's up to the other person to initiate the conversation. He is obsessed with the idea of the hero, and will often attempt to relate the topic to the conversations at hand. His manner of speaking is a bit odd though; he'll often use strange terms, and avoids speaking in the first person.

Weapon: Books

Skills: Tip's skills are entirely reliant upon which book he has at his disposal; he'll never have more than one at a time, although he may get opportunities to change his weapon of choice throughout the adventure. Of course, there are limits to what he can do. He can't summon anything bigger than a man, or change the scenery around him with his meager skills, but he can summon creatures, characters, tools and weapons that exist within the novel's plot. Under ordinary circumstances, however, he can only summon one thing at a time, and although the first summon will leave him in good spirits, a second will fatigue him and drain his reserves. The summons themselves are often very swingy as well, sometimes failing to maintain corporeal form in the physical world, or just winking out of existence seemingly at random. A perfect summon would allow them to remain in this world until they're destroyed, they expend all their magical power, or Tip recalls them, but Tip is not exactly a perfect summoner.

"The Siege of Carlaine"

This work of fiction tells the story of one Elias Dresden, knight errant in service of His Majesty, the King Mallus the Third of Carlaine. Originally written as propaganda for the last war, in it, the smaller kingdom of Dworr fields an army of devils which, as the title implies, lay siege to the territories of Carlaine.

Elias, at the head of the Carlainian armies, uses a seris of brilliant ploys, ambushes, raids and traps to stall the enemy's advance before finally being cornered within their last bastion of defense before the capital, Castle Carliane. Although a home to royalty in peacetime, it had been converted into an easily defendable mountain fort for the sake of the war.

The climax comes when the Dworren's Durahan Legion, a force consisting entirely of animate suits of armor, gained entry through the castle gates, threatening to put an end to Carliane's last ounce of resistance. Although the Durahan and their unholy commanders took heavy losses, they pushed through the courtyard and into the castle, with the help of the great dragon, Ignus, whose roaring flames had set the stone itself ablaze. As enemy forces swarm through the castle's halls, Elias was left on he rooftop alone, locked in combat with the mighty dragon. His stamina drained and morale diminished, Elias used the last trump card available to him, the Holy Lance Atticus, and threw into the sky. Light a golden rocket, it pierced the clouds and split the circling wyrm's heart in twain, sending it freefalling into the ground. His final thoughts of his land and his king, Elias' arms rose up to embrace Ignus in his fall before the massive dragon's bulk crashed down upon him, bringing the entire castle down upon the Dworren army.

The final scene was depicted King Dresden offering Elias a royal funeral, and giving a rousing speech on the noble self-sacrifice he made to protect the kingdom, no matter the costs, and ends with the line, "And he shall never, ever be forgotten."

From this novel, Tip can summon any low-quality weapon or armor, generic items such as ropes, tents and blankets, as well as several less standard things.

-Durahan- Suits of animate armor, tinted a deep black and adorned with wicked looking, but offensively useless spikes, the Durahan wield two-handed broadswords and are capable of basic combat actions, but lack the finesse of a trained warrior. They make up for it with extreme resilience and a supernatural strength that allows them to overpower the enemy.

-Devil- Not unlike a traditional Black Mage, these creatures hide themselves within their long bulky, blood-red robes, nothing of their bodies visible but the crimson glow of their eyes. They are extremely fragile, but capable of using low level fire and thunder magic.

-Elias: Knight-Errant- The story's protagonist, Elias is a powerful Knight whose battlefield tactics have known few equals. In combat, he is quite likely the most effective of this novels summons, but the great power he exudes often drains his magical energy far more quickly than the Devils or Durahans. He wields a longsword and tower shield in combat, combining offensive shield techniques with his swordplay to gain an advantage.

-Holy Lance Atticus- Unfortunately, Elias' greatest weapon is not available to him when he is summoned; it must be drawn out separately. This magical lance is a high quality weapon that can be thrust or thrown, and unleashes its power in one explosive strike. However, it can only reach its full combat potential in combat against dragons.

Limit Break: This is a rare occurrence, as Tip can only fully utilize his strange power when he has come to terms with the world around him. If pushed past his emotional limit and forced to take in the reality before him, and he rises to the challenge, he may remove his glasses to reveal the wicked, maroon eyes his glasses kept hidden, and channel forth a novel's true power, usually by enacting the climax, scenery and all, on the battlefield.

"The Siege of Carlaine" - The Fall of Castle Carlaine

The surrounding environment warps and swirls like warm molasses, the grown changing to resemble the impressive stonework of a royal castle. Unfamiliar flags can be seen hanging from minarets on all sides as the sky fades into an ominous shade of red, the clouds themselves tinted by the devastation below them. Somewhere far below, the sounds of battle rage on as the blistering heat of a some great flame turns the area into a veritable sauna. A great roar from overhead draws everyone's attention skyward, to a massive, bloated red dragon that is sweeping in low off to the East. It passes just feet overhead, sending a line of searing fire down across the roof, blackening stone and causing all caught within to disappear with the sea of flame. The false reality then crumbles like a broken mirror into dozens of brilliant white lights, each no larger than a pin, before they fade into nothingness.

Yeek, Reality Marble as a limit break. You make my character feel uninspired... I wish I could have started her as what I intended her to be, or else made something up >>_<<

"How many times is this now?"

... Holy shit, Zeta. You... You got my respect for this one. ._.;

I need to take a good look at those attacks now. Even a quick glance through them didn't help me understand them... ><;

Edit: Alrighty, did the reading. Well, i'm going to come out and say that is probably one of the coolest profiles i've ever seen. A completely new take on a combatant, and abilities that let me picture some very awesome scenario's in my mind. XD

I don't plan on having him be super-powerful though... his limit break requires a set of conditions that will be very difficult to meet, and I plan on making his normal skills somewhat... wonky. Well, you'll see. XD

Thanks for the support though. Hopefully he'll be as fun to rp as he was to write out. Now I just need to catch up on the last five pages of the rp that I missed, and then figure out when/where I want him to come into the picture.

Have fun with the reading then, ZS. I certainly did - and this is the most fun I've had in an RP in a while, for a few reasons.

The Blade that Cuts Injustice
Name: Dermud Rathnait
Race: Viera
Nationality: Antia, the forests between Banzon and Pense.
Job: Monster Hunter (Fighter/Hunter)

Description: Dermud stands at about average Viera height, leaving him taller than most normal other species. His long white hair has a slight dull purple tint to it and is usually pulled back into a ponytail with only some of his bangs hanging down to frame his dark eyes attractive Viera face. Though long and slender like all Viera, years of work, survival, and self-training have toned his body well. He tends to wear fairly gender-neutral clothing shrowded in a more slightly feminine cloak to both stay in touch with his masculinity but allow the ignorant world to treat him as a woman.

History: Being male, Dermud's birth was cause for celebration. Such events were rare in the Viera world and symbolized the future. While Dermud's upbringing was hardly luxurious, he did enjoy some benefits, especially leniency when he would cause mischief as a child. Perhaps it was because his adult life wouldn't be so free and easy.

When he reached adulthood, as it was with all men, it was time for Dermud to fulfill his destiny of giving the Viera race life. It was a noble (and some might say ideal) duty, to dedicate one's life primarily to repopulating one's species. But for Dermud, in time he began to crave, as few other before him, the same freedom he enjoyed as a child. He'd heard stories of males who had left Viera land and cast their duty aside, and while being hunted didn't seem like an attractive option, the feeling only grew as time went on.

Finally one night, Dermud stealthily gathered a pack of supplies he'd stored throughout his house and stole off. That long night was the most incredible, horrible test of his will to survive. He'd learned all sorts of things about the forest patrols from serving his duty with a fair number of warriors, but the slightest mishap had him being chased by a post full of guards. They were fast, strong, and while theydid their best not to kill him, any wrong move and he'd have ended up dead. He took up his sword, a great knife his mother had taught him to use, and fought through the arrows, blades, and desperate cries to not turn his back on his people. It was day by the time he'd escaped. Battered and bruised, he entered the port and donned a disguise before setting sail for Zamas.

When he arrived, it was as if he'd stepped into a brand new world. So many different people of such strange shapes and sizes filled the streets, all jolly. However, his money and supplies would only last him a short while and he'd need to be on the move if he didn't want to be taken back. At a loss for what to do, his solution came at the marketplace when he saw a poster with a reward for the successful hunt a monster. When the completion of the task proved fruitful, Dermud had found his way into this new world which he would continue for years to come as he wandered the land.

Personality: Curious and perceptive, Dermud is fascinated with culture and customs of the other races. He's especially curious about love and all it entails, that not having been a part of his duty. While his curiosity can lead to his getting into mischief, he's generally not naive. His strong will and polite manner, though hardened by battle, is juxtaposed by his feminine charms when drunken Humans come to hit on him, making for easy prey and a pocket full of money.

Favored Weapon: Grosse Messer (Sword), Long Bow

Skills: Yell, Rush, Wild Swing, Sidewinder, Weapon Block

Sophisticated Ancestor of Reptiles and Birds
Name: Kupornicus Mogfried
Race: Moogle
Nationality: Small fishing village that bordered several nations and belonged truly to none
Job: Blacksmith (Chemist Mod)
Description: A tall, burly and gruff voiced Moogle with large callused hands and a shaggy exterior. Wears a simple pair of pants, a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a leather vest typically, as well as a bandanna and hat. When smithing, he will don a heavy leather apron and gloves.
History: Born in a simple fishing village which skirted the borders of several nations, but was of such relatively little importance they were left undisturbed, Kupornicus (who prefers to be called Nicus for sake of ease) was raised in an environment of stoicism and hard work, but with little place for his ambition to grow, he left at a relatively young age to travel the world and develop his skills in his chosen profession, a Blacksmith. The creation of weapons, armor, tools and trinkets from the raw ore and ingots fascinated him from a young age, and with a strong body, dexterous hands, and a clever mind, he was naturally talented. So he left and journeyed the world, seeking tutelage at every smith who would teach him, while he studied the methods and manners of armor, weapons and tools in every town and country he traipsed through with his discerning eyes and savvy mind. Through this he has grown, through leaps and bounds, into an exceptional smith when he has the tools and materials at his disposal. Still, despite being competent and exceptional, he cannot help but want to constantly improve himself, which is why he still journeys the lands, seeking new challenges to set himself against so he can grow as a blacksmith. He currently travels with his trusty Chocobo, Jameson, who carries the Moogle's compact mithril anvil, hammer, tongs, and small furnace that he uses for field smithing. Kupornicus met Jameson in the middle of forest in the midst of a bitter blizzard, the two spent a night huddling by Nicus' carefully maintained forge in a cave for heat. Since then, the wild bird has been Nicus' closest companion, and often his source of common sense and reservation.
Personality: Stoic, pragmatic, and almost obsessed with bettering himself as a smith, he still has his tender moments and moments of zen and peace where he cannot help but smile at the beauty of the world. He prefers things to be simple and straightforward, and favors a straightforward approach to solving problems, even though he is exceptionally intelligent and could figure out a half dozen alternate solutions to any given problem besides the brute-force method, his upbringing and life philosophy lead him to choose the direct method nine times out of ten.
Weapon: Hammer and Bombs (proficient with every weapon he has produced)
Skills: Throw Item, Maintenance, Throwing Arm, Mad Bomber
