Well, what little we got to see of the Enterprise looked good, though I would've expected something slightly more high-tech to be used to hold it together than plain old welding. Still, hopefully this'll turn out as good as it's promising to be.

Given how often the bridge consoles and inertial dampeners go on the fritz, welding is actually better than I had always pictured.

Yeah, I’ve always figured they just through the thing together and wished for the best.

Honestly, I think they just forgot about the surge protector.

Seriously, how many fucking redshirts would be alive today if they remembered that essential piece of technology?

^I'm really digging the streamlined version of the classic uniform.

Here's a few more scene descriptions (nestled alongside the new trailer that was attached to Quantum of Solace):

Beware of spoilers if you're avoidin'em.

The more and more I see of this film the more and more I think that if I go into it as a Star Trek fan, I’ll probably end up hating it.

The ignorance of canon is startling really. It’s clear that Abrams doesn’t care about the rest of the franchise enough to show it some respect.

Oh well, I haven’t been a big Star Trek fan for years now, so I still look forward to it as a fan of sci-fi action films.

It's always better to go into these movies as a non-fan, just in case...

I don't think he's doing it out of a lack of respect, necessarily. He's said from the get-go that this is a reboot of the franchise in many ways; something that's been sorely needed.

I've been a fan of Star Trek since ToS, and I can tell you right now: if the heart and soul are in the right place (not just Roddenberry's version, but Berman's and Okuda's and everyone else's) then I don't give a flying fuck if we get Romulans early or anything like that. It's one thing to respect continuity, and it's a whole other thing to nitpick. Hell, ToS didn't keep continuity with itself on more than one occasion, if that continuity got in the way of the story. If the characters and the story are good, then I'll be content.

Plus, Simon Pegg playing Scotty as a lecherous mechaphile amuses me to no end. XD

Oh so this movie is supposed to be a reboot of the franchise. I thought it was just a prequel. Nevermind than. It doesn’t matter what they change.

Well, as I understand it (and if anyone knows something I don't please feel free to correct me), it's supposed to be both a reboot AND a prequel, since it covers the same characters, but in a different way. Sorta like how Casino Royale was the ORIGIN of Bond, but spun off into it's own continuity separate from all the other Bond movies.

Huh, so apparently Nero is actually from the future a few years after Next Generation where Data is Captain of the Enterprise, Picard is a Vulcan ambassador, and Nero knows more than he should about Kirk and the gang thanks to history.

So... confirmation on it being an alternate-universe reboot of the franchise, then?

Yup, I guess that is what is meant by the line where Nero says something about Kirk being a great man in another life.

Newest trailer just made me want soundtrack now and play it for every 360 game that is supposed to be epic. >>

Well, I guess that's ONE way to reboot a franchise...and an appropriately Trekkian one, to boot.

Oh, indeed.
At the very least, they've got the right concept on how to reboot Trek.
