Watched Hellboy II yesterday. OK movie. Better than Wanted. Expected it to be shorter. And http://io9.com/5040723/warner-brothers-tak...-that-wont-suck Here's the problem,
That's not what Superman is about. Superman is not Batman. You want to write good Superman stories? Read what Grant Morrison has done with All Star or what Geoff Johns is attempting right now. I'm reminded of that whole Kevin Smith Superman thing. >.> |

You know, the contextual advertising is really starting to make me laugh. So far, this page is really all about exploring Superman's dark side...and the ad we get is about a book detailing Barack Obama's religious beliefs. XD |

Superman: Lois sucked 37 dicks when I was gone, Bruce! 37! Batman: ...in a row? But seriously, I'm reminded of that as well. Expect to see Superman fightin' a giant (mechanical?) spider and Brainiac wrasslin' polar bears in the next movie! |

You mean his rant to WB execs when someone (I wanna say Tim Burton, but I'm not sure) said they wanted to do a dark, angsty, doubt-filled Superman film? |

Among other things, yeah. Here's the link, taken from An Evening with Kevin Smith: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgYhLIThTvk And a followup on Tim Burton's Batman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKbAEmvZyKQ |

Everyone was glad TDK did so well, now second only to Titanic, cuz it drove a point. And these fuckers totally missed it. Look at Iron Man. While not TDK it still did well and it wasn't dark. Pretty much. Iron Man was good because it embodied everything the character stood for over 30+ years of comics without feeling the need to make it GRIM'NDARK just for the sake of being taken seriously. It played it straight, and turned out excellent. |

Lowe just about summed up why Iron Man was an awesome movie. So I'm gonna move on... Saw Tropic Thunder on the weekend. Amusing enough. I'm not big on the comedy spoofs, but this was much less teen spoofy movie and more inside-Hollywood spoof. Like I said, amusing and entertaining, but not totally stomach-cramp-inducing laughter... Downey Jnr = WIN. |

XD sure thing then... Well... it took me a while to notice that Les was Tom Cruise... so that one is worth a mention... BUT I can't get over the fact that I'm linking Iron Man and Spider Man XD I kept thinking... so that's why he's Stark's protege! And then Lance Bass just put that cherry on top. Combination of things I guess :P How about you Bossman? |

Well... fave lines/parts of the film had to be: - "I diversify..." by Downey's character :P before the whole, double carbine shootup and pose... awesome stuff. - Again from Downey Jnr: "I know who I am... I'm the dude playing the dude, disguised as another dude" Dishonourable mention goes to: - Jack Black, tied to the tree... line about... y'know... swallowing the gravy. Gave me shivers. The bad ones. |

Well, if they insist on doing GRIMNDARK Superman, a once-a-year trilogy could be pretty cool. |

"Burn After Reading" comes out next week. I love the Coen Brothers and I look forward to it. "Righteous Kill" might be good, so I might catch that next week as well. Traitor seems to be getting mixed reviews, but the commercials looked good. |

Tropic Thunder greatly amused. Dammit @ Spiderman 4 and 5. I fucking hate Tobey. I still wish that Freddie Prinze Jr would have gotten the role. |

It's funny that they say that they don't want Spiderman to be like Batman, which may be true theme-wise, but if they include Carnage it come off as nothing more than a less impressive Joker in a neat costume laying waste to the city in a less endearing fashion. |

So Carnage in addition to the Venom spin-off. That sounds like the 90's all over again. Watchmen and TDKR come out and everyone misses the point and thinks anti-heroes, grim, dark and gritty are the way to go. What's next? Spawn reboot? And about Tobey, I was OK with him until I watched SM3. >.> |

I thought Tobey made a good Peter, especially pre-bite. He just wasn't that great as SPIDER-MAN. |

Yeah, to me it's kinda like how Christian Bale makes a decent Bruce Wayne, but a less-than-impressive Batman. I'll admit that both J.K. Simmons and Alfred Molina were great picks for J. Jonah Jameson and Doctor Octopus, respectively. They really shone in the first two films (and only the second for Molina). Dafoe's Green Goblin was okay, but clunky in certain parts. I'm not even going to go into the problems with #3. As for villains, I'm gonna toss my hat into the Lizard ring for #4, complete with multi-armed Spidey as Peter's personal problem for the film. |
