I predict Batman will somehow gain anime-like superpowers that have to do with Preptime.

EDIT
Wait, Bruce Timm is directing? Nevermind - it'll be fuckwin.

Yeah, this is one production that pretty much everyone is convinced will not only not suck, but actually dare to compete with B:tAS as the best rendition of Batman.

Production I.G., Studio 4c, Madhouse AND Bruce Timm. Fuck! My dream team isn't as cool as that.

Doesn't hurt that Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets) and David Goyer are on board too.

It will take buttloads of incompetence to make this suck.

The only 2008 anime that can top this is if Go Nagai officially announced a Mazinger/Great/Grendizer/Mazinkaizer big budget OVA. Even then it would be a close tie.

So... more episodes of CB World, but not chibi and with hotblood, then?
I'd be for it.

If Bruce Timm is on board, it's auto-win. Everything the man touches is gold.

There was a post about Go Nagai being interested in doing something like that in 2008. He also said we wanted to do his own Black Jack. But nothing came out of it so far.

Yeah, hasn't he already said he's doing a new Mazinger TV show sometime in '08?

Regardless, now I'm curious who's gonna play Batman. Be neat if they actually got Bale, though I can imagine some people will want it to be Conroy.

I think the question for me is, who's going to voice the japanese cast? O_o

I can think of Sho Hayami as Bruce... XD

The most important thing is that they shouldn't change just for the sake of change. Like they did in the recent DC animated movies.

And yeah, they need to get Sho Hayami as Bruce. :D

2nd pick, Akio Otsuka.

3rd Kouchi Yamadara.

I could go on. Whatever they do, I hope it's not Takahito or that Scryed/Kira guy.

When I first heard about this on OT, I was a bit apprehensive. I figured Batman would wind up taking a powered armor out to battle a juiced up Bane, who would then transform into a Godzilla reject, forcing Bruce to bust out the Valkyrie-styled Batmobile...none of which would necessarily be bad, mind you, but it just wouldn't be Batman.

Then I found out Bruce Timm was directing.

I can't wait to see the final product.

Awesome incarnate.

Yeah, it's gonna be hard for anything animated to top this for me in 2008. I'm so pre-ordering this. XD

EDIT: WTF @ people who have no idea what anime is talking about it. >>

So 3 of the villains are now revealed. Two-Face, Joker and Ras won't be showing up cuz of the movies.

My picks for the remaining Batman villains,
Clayface. Cuz animating him could be interesting.
Lady Shiva.
Catwoman or Talia. Love interest plus eventual betrayal.

Yeah, there we certain points where I went, 'wow, that sounds nothing like my anime', or they just started spouting off self-serving generalizations about it as if all anime were in the exact same genre. XD

This looks like it'll be awesome though. Some of the Batman art styles I'm not digging too much(Bat-Batman I can dig, but Monster-Batman and Robo-Batman seemed a bit much), but overall it looks like this is going to be hardcore.

Clayface. Cuz animating him could be interesting.
Lady Shiva.
Catwoman or Talia. Love interest plus eventual betrayal.

My picks for the remaining three:

The Riddler--Like Scarecrow, he uses a hell of a lot of psychological warfare in his fights with Batman. Although, the types of psychological warfare Scarecrow and Riddler employ are vastly different and thus, make for good story material.

The Penguin--The most recent animated series The Batman took the same path for Oswald Cobblepot that this project is taking with Deadshot; Batman/Bruce Wayne gone wrong. In Cobblepot's case, he was also from a wealthy family like Bruce, but the Cobblepots squandered their riches and became nearly bankrupt, leaving Oswald to deal with the mess in his own fashion. Also, I think he needs a new vision because I feel that Tim Burton's monster-like incarnation was a little too far from the original character.

Mr. Freeze--Again, like Bruce, Victor has also suffered tragedy, the disease that strickened his wife and then his accident. It is his accident that gives rise to interesting character designs and storytelling because not only can directors explore with how Victor regulates his body temperature, but also with how he uses that suit to fight Batman.

I was thinking of Freeze but they did a good job covering him and turning him into an A-class Batman villain in the DCAU. He even had his own Batman animated movie. And if I'm not mistaken, a Batman Beyond appearance?

Yeah, I believe he was the first Batman Beyond villain, right? They thawed him out for the 2-parter that kicked off that series. Speaking of which, Batman Beyond was AWESOME and should never have been canceled. The JLU episode where they went to the future and 'finished' that storyline was freaking amazing.

Yeah, it was only one episode where he gets a new body and--at first--is free of his temperature problems. Then he breaks out an upgrade to his freeze suit and totals the lab that brought him back from his talking-head-in-a-glass-jar state and dies in the process.
Hell, he was one of three former Batman villains to be brought back for Batman Beyond (the others being the Joker and Ras A'Ghul).

But, I can dream, can't I? Freeze seems to be someone who could be re-imagined and turn out well. Except his The Batman version, where he was nothing more than a simple jewel thief that had an accident at a cryogenics lab while escaping from Batman, forcing him to build the infamous suit.

Yeah. That's a trend The Batchan seems to have. >>

The whole DCAU was awesome. I doubt if American TV animation will ever reach that level again.

No, he wasn't the first one, but he was one OF the first ones. And yes, he was awesome. Though, look at it this way: BB being canceled was what allowed Justice League to be made.

Now, to be fair to The Batman, their version is based off the original comic Mr. Freeze. No, it's nowhere as cool as the DCAU version, but there is precedent for him to be what he is in it.
