You're probably thinking this belongs on the Video Game sub-forum. You'd be half-right. (In fact, I haven't swung by there recently. For all I know, the resident .hack topic is already discussing this.) Yes, it's computer-generated and, yes, it's based on the GU video games, but there's nothing playable about it. .hack//GU Trilogy is an upcoming OVA that promises to condense and re-tell the .hack//GU video game series in a single movie-length sitting. However, not content with giving us the same-old junk, press releases and trailers have promised use new twists on the old story. Bandai recently released two new trailers, which have been cobbled together here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOEeXaLNf4U There's a subtitled version of the second trailer found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TorLfzxtAA&feature=related Edit: ...And, upon further inspection, I see I'm well behind the times, with .hack Video Game thread having covered all of this and more. Oi <_< |

We've been discussing it in the GU topic for over 2 months actually. same with the trailers and PVs. Also the new addition to the family, .hack//LINK. Guess who's back on the horse >> Posted Image Posted Image EDIT: Missed your edit ><. And I didn't know you were a fan. o_O Only other people I new about were Orochi, Zeta, ASD, Vita, Xion, that Dwarf in my bookclub who steals my opinions, and astranagan, |

The American version of "A Voice of You" took over 8 months just to simply get relased. they released all 3 vols in less time than that in Japan. a little over 2 months isn't that bad. Plus hopefully they're relase new PVs with remixes of Shinjitsu no Yukue and Yasashiku Kimi wa Hohoende Ita as well. |

Yeah, I'm a huge .hack fanboy. It's one of the few long-running anime franchises I can stand (Gundam and Slayers being among the few). I suppose I'm not as vocal about it as others because I'm not up-to-date. I haven't even finished the original .hack//Game series, much less the .hack//GU trilogy. (Long story made short: I was nearing the end of Outbreak when my file died on me, forcing me start over all the way back at Infection. I quickly made up lost ground, but then college hit. I currently lack a PS2, so any efforts to finally finish the damn games have come to a screeching halt.) I know enough to recognize the character and what's going on, but I'm not as attached to Haseo and Ovan and the rest because I haven't had the chance to get to know them. Still, the OVA looks hella cool and it will, allegedly, be able to tell a story without forcing you to go to the source material. |

From my view, it seems they are expecting people to know the gist of it. Hence why the revealed Ovan's big secret right in the promo itself, as well as AIDA Atoli. although she looked nothing like that in the game since it's a new scene. and Ovan is definitly one of the coolest characters in the series. Haseo is also the best main in it over all as well IMO. He has his own personality, ways, etc. Unlike Kite who was as cliched and one sided as you can get. His identity was also amusing. Although it has nothing to do with the actual story in GU what so ever. Hell, we didn't even know who he was in the past till the perfect guide revealed it. |

Oh, I know Haseo is a familiar face and I'm also familiar with Ovan's secret. Like I said, I know enough to grasp what's going on. It's the more subtle, nuanced things that are slipping past. But I should be able to get a decent block of gaming done during the upcoming break. I might even be able to start the GU series if I'm lucky (and by that, I mean forego sleep entirely.) |

Which version of rebirth did you get, Standard or Special edtion? The SE came with the terminal disk which has all the story scenes from the 1st 4 games. But over all you don't need it for GU. The only connection between the series are subtle. Like Kite, Morganna, and the like. But none of it plays any important role. "The End of The World" entries might worth watching though. IIRC, they're on game trailers. |

Yeah, the recaps on the disc are pretty neat. They're rather detailed, and they present it in a cool way. |

.......I just realized that dispite the bitching I 1st did about haveing to buy the SE for the terminal disk.....I've never even watched the thing. In fact it's still in it's original plastic sealed card board holder. I really should watch the End of the world, now that I have the 3 data flags. |

Should I watch .hack//Liminality AFTER beating vol. 4, or before? I don't really want to be spoiled for whenever I get back to it, but if I can watch the end of Liminality without worries... |

Have I really been that MIA from the Guild for the past few months?
Same for me, which is odd since I was really looking forward to using it in tandem with the game. Now, I’ll probably wait till I’m done with the last game. |

I have a favor to ask;on Gamefaqs I found an image of Atoli using a different Pc (somebody said it was a blade brandier). The question is if someone know from what manga it is and ,if they know, can they tell me where I can found it? Thanks. |

Are you sure it wasn't a fan doujin or somthing? PCs can't use any other weapons besides their class ones unless they're multi weapons like Haseo. Or Special like Ovan. |

Probably it was a doujinshi. Atoli wasn't using others class weapons, she changed or created another character. |

Most likely one. Atoli never changes PCs. The only ones with alternates are Yaya/Naobi/guild tree geezer, and Pai/Ender |

So... .hack//Alcor is deemed non-canon? I can understand .hack//GU+ being non-canon, but not necessarily .hack//Alcor and .hack//GnU. They don't seem to contradict .hack//GU much as far as I've heard. |

While I can't say for sure, the only canon media in GU are -ROOTs -ROOTs Drama CDs -Rebirth -A voice of You -At walking distance -Returner |

So...everything else is non-canon? Or is it that most are not confirmed if canon or not? If so, then that makes Enju look a little worse to me. |

They have similar events, and try to tell the same story. But it's more or less non-canon. Also the "End of The World" files are part of the canon as well. |

Speaking of canon things, think they'll make Trilogy non-canon? If it is canon, I wouldn't mind too much. Hell, some aspects of Trilogy might be canon...like Bst Form. |
