Out of curiousity, is there a legal reason they don't use the Japanese OST when they import Super Sentai shows, or do they just prefer their own music? 'Cause nothing personal, but B-Fighter's henshin music >>>>>>> Beetleborgs'. |

They make more money by not licensing the JP soundtrack, I'd wager. Plus, it gives their guys more to do. XD Though, aside form the children's choir of death, I rather liked the Beetleborg theme. It was just one of those things you could hum for hours.... ...aw crap.... Well, as long as we're posting nostalgia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNGTXQnsBO0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwiZSE8Q6Gk |

And since you were talking about B-Fighter's music, here's the BeetleBorg OP along with the OPs for B-Fighter and B-Fighter Kabuto: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePT7TVOXHr0 See, now I wanna find that fanvid someone did where they used Kamen Rider Kabuto footage to set-up a sequel to Beetleborgs where the kids had all grown up and were having to fight the Worms using revamped versions of their old powers. Okay, Raise your hands if you all have seen the original airing of the finale to the Lost Galaxy-Power Rangers in Space team up when it first aired. Now raise your hands again if you've seen the Power Rangers Generations version. Now anyone notice anything different about the episode? Im just trying to make sure I didn't enter an alternative dimension where what I had described as the ending never happened and we got a sappy version >_> |

*raises hand both times* I dunno, I remember it being pretty much the same both times. Destroying the Savage Sword was the whole point of the episode, after all. They don't SAY she's dead, but they make it pretty obvious she is. And considering she saved the universe, I wouldn't say it was necessarily SAPPY. However, it's possible they changed it later on. That was what...7 years ago? |

::watching Once a Ranger on YT:: Am I the only one who thinks the episode would have been slightly cooler if they devised variant Boukenger/OO costumes for the returning characters, rather than just having them wear the same outfits they used in the past? That feels a little incongruous, especially Adam being the Black MMPR, completely ignoring his role as the Green Zeo Ranger (but I can sort of understand, since they brought in the Xander, the Green Mystic Ranger). |

Well, in Adam's case he'd already become the Black Ranger once before, in PRiS, I think. Tradition seems to dictate that returning rangers who have served multiple roles always default to their oldest available version. Seeing them in the OO outfits would've been neat, but it would've lessened some of the nostalgia of seeing ex-Rangers doing their thing...besides, can you really see Xander doing magic in a non-caped Ranger suit? XD |

Well, I just found something interesting out... Apparently, Johnny Young Bosch has decided to come back to Power Rangers. In Jungle Fury, he's listed as playing Adam again - as the Purple Wolf Ranger. Here's hoping the series turns out half as good as Dino Thunder... :ph43r: |

As far as I know, that rumor is false. Isn't he currently busy with several VA roles? There's no way he could do that if he had to travel to New Zealand to participate in a permanent role in Power Rangers. If he does get a role, it probably will be as one of the weird Rangers that appeared in Jungle Fury's toyline but have no Sentai counterpart, because they probably won't be permanent parts of the cast (if they appear at all in the series): the Black/White Bat Ranger, the Blue Shark Ranger or the Green Elephant Ranger. |

Hey, you never know. After all, JDF came back as Tommy for another series despite many other things going on in his life. Admittedly, it wound up having his character get put through odd things (stasis, temporoary-perma-invisibility, ect). Besides, it might not be a full-time thing - considering there are other part-time rangers out there as well, so to speak. Or he could be a proverbial sixth ranger, like Tommy was for Dino Thunder before Trent got his White Dino powers. |

And sent. :ph43r: --- Edit
Having just seen the episode myself, I think it would have been kinda cool to see them in modified 00 uniforms... and a modified opening for the second half. Perhaps if they'd lengthened it to a three-part episode, they could have done that for the second episode or something. However, I did notice that Adam got some sort of Operation Overdrive... er... Overdrive in the form of that odd vest. Sorta reminded me of the time Jason wore the Green Ranger's armor - but much more awesome. However, at the same time, it was just as badass seeing the second (though, to me, the definitive) Black Ranger leading a team for once... and being seriously badass while doing it. Seriously, it makes me want to go back and grab all the season 2 episodes he's in, as well as his PRiS episodes. XD I mean, he went fist-to-fist with the Big Bad of the Week and delivered some great-looking damage. B)
Well, they've done it before, as well. During Forever Red, they kinda skimped over the fact that Tommy was also the first Green Ranger and the White Tiger Ranger and the fact that TJ was also the Blue PRiS Ranger. Though, this WAS about the Red Rangers, so it's understandable. However, after seeing the episodes, I can't help but think that the Operation Overdrive Rangers are kinda... wussy. I mean, even the orginal rangers could hold their own against the Big Bad of the Week in their civvies most of the time - and this was without blasters, jeeps, genetic modifications, ect. Yet here, the OO Rangers are ragdoll'd without much of an explanation. Maybe it's because we had to have a serious reason for the Guest Rangers to show up, but it's still rather fishy and doesn't speak well for the OO Rangers. --- EDIT 2 And after watching the episode again, I find I'm probably gonna have to check out SPD after Dino Thunder. Aside from the 2 prerequisite crossover episodes with DT (one more than usual, though), I found myself liking Bridge the SPD Red ranger from the future... who was Green for the series (and later promoted to Blue and then to Red) quite a bit. Kinda neurotic, but also quite likable. I might also have to look at Mystic Force - just to see how odd the show gets. XD |

I understand the whole homage thing, but it seems a bit odd to say that the returning Rangers are replacing the OO team, then having them run around in non-uniform uniforms. Another episode I'm interested in is "Lost and Found in Translation", where the Dino Thunder Rangers...watch an episode of Abaranger, the series upon which DT is built. EDIT: Sorry, I originally thought that LaFiT was a Wild Force episode, but Lena (who's actually seen it) corrected me. Forgot to change Gao to Aba, though. |

Amuro, you mean Abaranger, Gaoranger is what they based Wild Force off. Understandable since they both spam multiple zords like theres no tomorrow. |

Well, yeah - this is why I thought it should have been a 3-parter for the most part. This way, they could have added suspense with a new opening for the second and third parts - as well as a justified budget for new costumes that would tribute their old shows and new OO uniforms. Also, the Excelsior Sword quest could have been more than just a random plot twist that made little sense in the first place - like the Sword of Power quest from the old shows was (ie: done DAMN well). And this way we could have had an Operation Overdrive-based Xander with a cape, or an OO-based Adam with that badass battleaxe. After all, SPD recycled the old In Space helmets for the A-Squad, from what I've heard... and DT re-used what looks like an old Turbo morpher for Dr. Oliver's Dino Morpher. I think it mostly came down to budget in the end - but as it is, the episode's still insanely badass.
I remember seeing that one on ABC Family when the show hit re-runs. The original series was dubbed for comedy and spoofage, but to be honest... the events they were showing were pretty damned fucked up. It'd be like trying to make a parody serious otherwise. [Looks warily at Turbo, which was based on the parody CarRanger.] |

They also used the henshin devices from Dairanger (the series that provided the Thunder Zords and White Tiger Ranger) in a later season of PR, I believe as the Battlizer morpher in a later season. |

I'm not surprised, really. The really fun thing to note is the fact that the SPD's A-Squad was an American invention, something that didn't show up in the Japanese Sentai version. Not to mention the Orange Ranger who showed up in a dream sequence was another US-creation. Though, so was the Titanium Ranger from Lightspeed. EDIT I will say this, though. At least Once a Ranger had a better time matching up stock footage with their costuming than Forever Red did. I mean, it got kinda blatant with the re-use once we saw Tommy somehow switch back to the same red shirt he wore during most of Zeo. <_< |

Actually got to watch Lost and Found in Translation. It was a cute little episode. ...Though I note someone on YT did an edit that replaced the somewhat silly dub of Abaranger with TV-Nihon subs. Judging by the number of "Super Sentai rox, Power Rangers sux" comments, I'm guessing the people who "watched" it (and possibly the creator as well) completely missed the entire point of the episode, despite the fact that they practically clubbed the viewer over the head with it. |

Yeah, it was one of those 'dang, that was weird' episodes. However, the original version didn't put in subs - they dubbed it. And, to be honest, I'd take the dub they did over TV-Nihon any day. Especially considering what those Kisama like to do. <_< |

Ahh... Gekiranger, following in Megaranger's tradition of screwing over the American PR people. See, I'm not sure, but I think the only time a jungle is involved in Gekiranger is to introduce Jan, the Red Ranger raised in the jungle... Oh crap, I'm already loling. |
