Another bout of insomnia. Really, I swear, this is getting ludicris.
Either way, I got bored and tried to find a website where I could snag some of the old Power Rangers themes - mainly to see if I could find a full version of the Dino Thunder theme.

Well, not only did I succeed there, but the website that I found (and cannot list in this topic, but can give out via PM, for ToS reasons) also has most of the Power Rangers episodes up for download (not to mention the two movies) - and are slowly finishing up what they don't have up... as well as starting to make HQ versions of their episodes already up.
And one of these episodes was the Wild Force episode Forever Red. In high-quality.

All I have to say is... damn. Epic. Fucking win. A little deus-ex-machina-ish in the ending, but still awesome.
Should have been a damned movie, though.

EDIT:
I should also note... I have no damned recollection of the Alien Rangers. I must have missed those 10 episodes somehow.

Well, Alien Rangers only happened in-between the tail end of MMPR and Zeo, and was pretty dang forgettable, honestly.

But yeah, Forever Red was a great nostalgia kick. If you liked it, try to find "Once a Ranger" parts 1 & 2. It was an episode of the newest series where the son of Rita and Zedd (yes, apparently they DID <_<) eliminates the OO team's powers, so a new team of rangers is created: Adam, the MMPR Black Ranger; Kira, the Dino Thunder Yellow Ranger; Tori, the Ninja Storm Blue Ranger; Bridge, the SPD Red Ranger (who was formerly the Blue Ranger AND Green Ranger); and Xander, the Mystic Force Green Ranger. Lotta great injokes and subtle references to the previous series.

Not a problem.

And if you want epic, let me recommend Dino Thunder in it's entirety. It's like Turn-A... for Power Rangers. Only better.
Also, the final three episodes of Lost Galaxy were fucking epic back in the day.

As for myself, I can finally see the damned movie. XD

EDIT
Well, that site does have Operation Overdrive up there. I'll certainly try to find it. Especially after hearing the description - I've always loved the crossover episodes.

Don't forget Time Force. Probably the single most well-planned and well-executed story ever done by PR.

Yeah, I've heard that Time Force was extremely well-done. I've not seen it myself - I stopped watching after Lightspeed Rescue ended. Mostly because my little brother 'grew out' of Power Rangers and 'into' the 7th grade or so.
Of course, then I found Dino Thunder a few years later, and the whole mess started all over again for me. XD

DAMN. XD
Well, from the looks of it, the LQ downloads are around 50MB an episode. And they're still pretty watchable, if the first episode of Dino Thunder is anything to go by.
Meanwhile, HQ episodes should be more like 175MB, if Forever Red is anything to go by. And the movies, of course, are closer to 500 in HQ form.

Still, considering the sheer size of the Power Rangers series (episode 4 of Dino Thunder was #500 for the whole series, for God's sake!), that's a deal.

50mb's ok for me, but not, apparently, for Rapidshit. I think I might just buy that one month deal from RS. After all, I've got 4 pages worth of MS document rapidshare links to clear out XDXD

Yeah, the entire period that began with PRiS and ended with Time Force is what I call the "Golden Age" of Power Rangers. Great stories, good SFX, and general quality that managed to equal (and in some cases even surpass) the original sentai versions.

Sadly, Wild Force started strong, but ended on a rather laem note. Ninja Storm tried a little TOO hard to inject humor in the series and was just silly. Dino Thunder came out okay despite Jason Frank's constant needs to leave the show (which resulted in his character constantly having SOMETHING happen to him). SPD was actually really good overall (US Doggie was far superior to Japanese Doggie) and Mystic Force was cool despite having a shitty theme song (but great background music). Operation Overdrive has been pretty good as well, tossing in a couple of unique surprise elements that help it seem more like the "Golden Age" stuff. Crappy themesong again, though.

Hopefully Jungle Fury will keep up the quality, though with it being done by a new team, who knows. Hopefully the themesong will be better. <_<

So, if PRiS through Time Force was the 'golden age,' does this make MMPR/Zeo the Classical Age of Power Rangers?
...and Turbo the 'whoops' age? <_<

I can forgive them replacing Tommy. I mean, it's understandable. Even Billy left the show... and he was without powers for Zeo, yet still there. <_<
But that kid... that kid... ugh. Please, no. Especially since he was 'normal sized' with his helmet off, despite magically growing with it on.

At the VERY least, PRiS redeemed the other four members of the cast of Turbo. Even if they did team up with the live-action Ninja Turtles in, like, episode 4.

EDIT
And sent. :ph43r:

I had no initial problem with the concept - hell, the White Ranger in DaiRanger was exactly the same thing. My problem came form him being a useless brat who CAUSED more trouble than he fixed.

Which reminds me that I really, REALLY wish they'd used the DaiRanger costumes for season 2 of MMPR. I've always thought they were some of the coolest sentai costumes around. We at least got the White Ranger, but I would've loved to see the rest get used, just for the stock footage they would've enabled.

Then again, I guess that's WHY they didn't...seeing as that would've led to scenes of the Yellow Ranger using Drunken boxing style martial arts.

I dunno, I'd have liked to see them try to pass it off as something else.

Ooh. That'd be a good one - and a plausable one, considering the censorship on Fox.

Wow the nostaglia! I'd love to have the link to that site in an PM if you don't mind! Lol I've always claimed that they changed an episode entirely in the rebroadcast of it entirely to change something happened. It was the second episode of the Power Rangers in Space-Lost Galaxy team up. I defintely remember how it ended and it was way darked than the rebroadcasted version, in the rebroadcasted version the lost galaxy pink ranger uses up all of her power to help defeat the final psycho ranger who had been resurrected by the villans in Lost Galaxy and turns into... energy. However, in the original version, that never happens, actually what happens is somehow Psycho pink had survived and tries to take down the space pink ranger in a kamikaze attack, but the lost galaxy pink ranger took the shot for the space pink ranger and faded away becoming etheral. >_> too violent for today's standards? And yet everybody acts like it never happened XD

I would also enjoy a link.

And y'all are making me feel bad that I was part of the group of fans who were put off by Turbo and just stopped caring at the start of In Space (the Turbo movie and TMNT episode didn't help). Another rather annoying factor was the fact that MMPR was cool at my school for the first season, but when I mentioned the second, I got odd stares...apparently, whatever cool it had vanished without a trace in the intervening months.

Speaking of nostalgia, one of the things that amused me most about Forever Red were some of the "hidden cameos" in the episode, namely these guys:

And for comparison, the English version:

Don't believe me?
