Yeah, Tekken 6 is still the big machine at mine, though MvC2 still gets a lot of attention as well.

...well, as much as it can considering that the sticks are all screwed up.

I know for certain the arcades here in the Philippines are still very active, of course majority of the frequent arcade players hang around the Tekken 6 machines.

 dude, you're Filo? Or at least, living in the Philippines?

Geez, I didn't know that.

---

Sorry, on topic... most of my sentiments are reflected by S3, so I'm not gonna elaborate on those too much. I think the last SF game I bought was... hmm... I can't even remember. Probably the XBL version :P

And last one I played in the arcades was from over 5 years ago methinks. lol so yeah... considering the lack of development (gameplay, mostly) I haven't really been into it as much as the bigger fans.

So on a couple of points (some of which may inadvertantly start flame wars):

- I still want Sakura.

- I thought Zero/Alpha was supposed to be a prequel to the entire story?

- Bison died? XD yeah, I never really believed he would leave...

- Ken >>> Ryu. Still. And always.

- Agreed with Amuro AND S3 on the Vega/Balrog thing. As in, they both have a point. It's not the core issue in SF. BUT in a way, if people are still going to be expecting you to pick up a dropped claw, I see it as a way to mix things up. I say press the attack if you lose it. If they're expecting you to pick it up or take advantage of getting you to pick it up, then more power to the Vega player. IF they can pull it off :P

Zero/Alpha takes place between SF1 and SF2.

And canonically, Vega/Bison died in Super SF2 Turbo. Gouki/Akuma jumped out of nowhere and used the Shun Goku Satsu, which officially drags one to hell and has demons attack them in proportion to their sins. Since this is Vega/Bison we're talking about, he was ripped to shreds and killed instantly. Hence the confusion about his being alive in SF4.

Yes, I'm a Filipino.

I can see why, but sometimes get tired how...all of the people I see in the arcades pick Ken, like he's Street Fighter's version of Wolverine.

I miss that game. There's a machine nearby my place, but I'm annoyed by the number of Kyosuke users who abuse "the glitch."

Just realized no one had bothered to post this yet, so I guess I will:

Gouken looks pretty neat, actually. I like the animations on his Hadokens.

...but isn't Gouken... um...
Dead?

I mean, it was established that he'd been killed by his brother Akuma long before the events of the Zero/Alpha games from what I recall... and murdered in a most brutal way, to boot. Of course, the same can be said of Bison, who died 'for good' in SFII-whatever-iteration-they-count...

As a side-note, I once had a list of things they could do for Street Fighter 4. The following is a heavily-abbreviated form.
---Ryu is not there, but as a hidden character. We follow a 'new main,' who looks surprisingly like Ryu, but uses a different moveset. As it turns out this is Ryu, who had amnesia for one reason or another and learned a different technique. Or maybe it was a Ryu who expanded his moves to incorperate other martial arts. Either way, they still have Ryu, but they also have a Ryu with growth for the main slot.
---Bison is still alive, but deposed from power by a bigger evil. He and Guile have to work together (lol) to get rid of him... and Guile learns new moves. Period. Oi.
---Sakura and Dan show up somehow, albeit older. In fact, the entire cast is older, seeing how my idea put it in place after Street Fighter III...

But yeah, I just wish Capcom had read my mind for more than just 'Bison's not dead.'

He got Shungokusatsu'd, but apparently managed to survive (just barely) and has been off training ever since.

No, it's not terribly sensible or creative, but since this is a fighting game and it allows me to play as Gouken, I'll take it.

And I keep hearing that older Dan and Sakura will be in the home version along with Fei Long (maybe) so there is that.

Jin?

Anyway... anyone know when the Gamestop pre-order headbands are coming out?

Dan, Fei Long, and Cammy are the only absolutely confirmed characters at this point; Sakura and Ibuki have merely been teased at.

Ibuki I had heard was just an internet rumor, but I thought Oda had said he was actually wanting to put Sakura in, and just hadn't officially announced it.

Played some SF4 today at the arcade. It's very... Okami. It's like Capcom wanted to make a fighting game with the same artistic flair but without the eye breaking bloom. I still can't get over how incredibly cheap Ryu's combos can be (7 hit ending with a Senpuukyaku that takes off half the bar?), but at least he's no Iori.

And I still don't get the usage for the Ultra gauge. Sure, you get a free DM, but it only LOOKS cool... anybody with a brain just jumps over whatever you throw at them.

Edit: Why am I more interested in Quantum Theory above? Plus it's from Tecmo, so lots of bounce...

It's from Capcom. Like all the other early 90's franchises they're not really meant to be intricate in the story department.

*watches as Rockman characters come and go but Metools seems to always exist in massive numbers*

I've seen the pics.

The artstyle doesn't suit Sakura. At all. She looks too much like a boy.
