My friend and his girlfriend keep expecting there to be copies of SFIV at their local Blockbuster to rent. I always laugh at them. Each and every time they've gone that I've been here. Three days.
Bwahahaha.

lol they're better off buying a copy instead of wasting time and money getting there!

@ GT: I thought you'd have been one of the first to unlock everyone...?

I unlocked everybody but Seth by the second night I had the game if I recall correctly.

Seth just requires you beat the game with everybody so I haven't done that yet. Tomb Raider got in the way since I like to play my rentals when they arrive and play my owned games during the Gamefly turn around time. >>

I don't understand renting Street Fighter and not outright buying it.

It's a money thing for them. They can afford a week-long rental but not an outright $60 purchase.

Alright, I thought I had finished up Arcade Mode with the six remaining people I mentioned earlier.

Then I realized I forgot about Ken. >_<

Did a few ranked matches. Was doing okay until I ran into a streak of people with 2000 BP who liked the throws too much. Meh.

I swear the AI is starting to get smarter. Fighting AI Zangief now he does a short focus attack whenever I tried to hit him. ><

I think I'll eventually rent SF4... from what I've seen/heard of it, it is NOT the kind of fighting game I can get into competitively... mainly because turtling is a viable tactic, and I hate turtling.

Turtling isn't THAT viable... I should know, since I got my ass kicked when I turtled... Of course, another factor is that I usually play without a time limit.

Turtling is hardly even an issue. Same with throws. It's not that hard to counter things like that... It just requires a good understanding of your character and the gameplay mechanics.

I was just getting mad the other night when I'd block a cross up and get thrown... and I kept falling for it. >_<

Then again I abuse Rose's throws from her slide kick so I guess it is only fair.

I like watching my friend play Zangief online. They don't learn and keep walking into it. XD

Okay, so how do you "charge" during part of your combo, i.e. Vega's easiest combo is charge back, forward+punch

Charge as you're performing the regular attacks, then perform the move. For example, jump in with a Hard Kick while holding back, then throw a crouching Medium Punch, and then you perform the Forward + Punch to get the Crystal Flash. (Note: I don't know if this is a viable combo, it's just a for-instance.)

I guess I'll take your word for it... I plan on renting it at the very least, and if I find it to my tastes, I'll certainly play it.

It's fun to play, despite getting my ass kicked by Seth on any difficulty - but then again Fighting games are not my forte - and the animation is neat. Definitely rent or borrow to see if it's worth your time.

Seth is a total bastard as a boss, but he is really fun to use. It feels strange doing a Sonic Boom with a quarter circle motion. His super move is pretty neat, I don't think I ever saw him use it as a boss. It is like Alpha Chun Li's (man, I miss how she played in Alpha) Kikosho, but with a much better ability to suck in opponents.

Full of hate for the regular 360 controller. D-Pad blows and I'm bad at using the left stick where it's positioned. I'm much more use to where it is on the PS controllers. AARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Yeah, Seth's a bastard even on "Easiest".

Yeah but more like PS2. I use the left stick on my PS2 controller for Capcom VS Marvel 2 almost exclusively now. I've actually gotten really good at it. So I was hoping that I could do the same thing with the 360 controller. I think I'm getting the hang of it now but it's still frustrating...

EDIT: Absolutely destroyed Seth with DAN! Almost got a perfect... I'm going to chalk that up to being on EASIEST. But I had a lot trouble with Ryu, Ken, and Sakura on the same difficulty...

All right. I think I'm as use to the 360 controller as I'll be, which is to say I'm not really good with it. I'm too cheap to buy a damn stick so don't even suggest that!

I got everyone unlocked finally, I actually forgot to play through with Rose until after I played through with Gouken. Seth didn't unlock so I was "WTF?" I went back to the Arcade and looked over everyone and realized that I didn't play as Rose yet, dumb me.

I can't express how much hate I have for the 360 controller. I think I'm going to have to take my controller apart and sand down the area around the D-Pad so I can use that and see how I do...

I'm also not a fan of the way you perform the Supers and the Ultras. I'm not too good at pulling them off, especially Guile and Vega. (I know an arcade stick would make it easier, so don't bother with that suggestion.) I understand why the developers did it that way but can't they give me an option of switching it...

I love the look of everything in action but not of the controls.

You wouldn't be able to get a decent stick right now anyway even if you did want one. They're so rare thanks to everyone buying+reselling at absurdly high prices. =/

I have a Hori stick and I hate it. I just do better with a decent D-pad.

My best friend did this and insists it is working well for SF4:

GT, I don't even need to go to that youtube link to know what it is. I'm thinking of doing that but I would never be able to play very well as Zangief if I used just the d-pad. I sucked with Zangief just using the d-pad in MvC2.

I don't really like using arcade sticks, I'm just so much more use to d-pad and analog sticks. Those are much more comfortable for me. I think I figured out one problem I have with the 360's left stick. I tend to hold the controller at a small angle and my thumb doesn't quite line up on the stick. When I think I'm just pressing down, sometimes I'm actually pressing df or db depending on the angle the controller is on. It's only a slight bit but it's enough to mess up the inputs.

I have a new thing to hate, TRIAL mode. With some characters, I do exactly what I need to do but it wasn't with the right timing, so it doesn't come out or it does come out and is blocked so it doesn't count. The 360 controller isn't helping any either.
