Oh, I see how it is. My topic isn't cool enough for you guys. You with your fancy topic names, and your... your... your... okay, I'm out of juice. *copy-pastes* After reading Zero's rant, and typing one of my own, I got curious. What are the long term goals of my fellow guilders? Have some of you already started your careers, and if so, what are they? If not, what are you going to school/working towards? As I said in the other topic, my plan is to become a Devlopmental Editor, preferably for one of the big name fantasy publishing houses like Del Rey or Tor. I love good stories, I love reading, and I'd love to work with authors who are in the process of writing them. Not to mention the fact that, should I ever sit down and write out some of the story ideas I've got floating around in my head, I'll have made the contacts needed to get the thing published. Provided I've grown enough as a writer to make it worth reading, of course.(I'm still only halfway there-- I'm a natural writer, but have trouble planning out long storylines. I have no idea where to start, and probably wont until I've spent some time in more literature/creative writing classes) Education: Still working on my bachelor's(in English), and about 1 semester away from my associate's(in Transfer Studies; I'm at a community college for now, to save money). |

Er let's see... Right now I'm working for Bell Mobility, in the Port Management Center. It's a shit job, the pay is shitty, but it accomodates my school schedule. I'm back in uni this semester, after three years and half, go me. Right now I'm just doing random English classes to complete my English Certificate, and a stupid French Grammar class. Next semester, I'll be starting my Translation degree. Yay! |

I'm 24 until I say I'm not
|
Job: I work as a Customer Service Clerk in a grocery chain, helping customers who come up to the service counter. The store I work in is pretty quiet at night and I basically get paid to do my homework and study while occasionally helping a customer. Schooling: I have an Associates Degree in Business (Accounting). In a year to a year and a half I should have a Batchelor's in Business (Accounting). I'm at some point going to eventually try to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Hopefully I'll pass the CPA testing soon after I graduate and get some experience. |

I must be the only Junker not going to school/graduated post secondary. Education: Graduated High School in 2002, attempted 1 semester of Computer Systems Technology, found it too be the wrong thing for me, so I dropped it. Currently no plans for Post Secondary schooling. Occupation: Full-Time Warehouse Materials Handler at Coca-Cola Bottling in the south side of Edmonton, Alberta (Canada). There's little to no opportunity for advancement, if I stay here (which I won't) I'll stay at $22.96/hour for the rest of my career (not including raises as set by our current contract) Other Opportunities: Offered a trial day at Frito-Lay for a variety of roles (Merchandiser, Swamper, Driver), but I'm starting to put my nose to the grindstone to finish some of my writing works and send them off to get published. |
