Wincing as he took his hand back, Vincent shook it a few times - hoping nothing was messed up, "...ow."
Shaking his head, Vincent slipped his sunglasses back on - his hangover still not letting him see quite right without them, "Sorry, I should have known better to try anything.... at all... against a woman who's got a fiance and a guy who also seems damn dedicated to her."

"things have pretty much broken up between my fiance and myself." She muttered softly, picking up a cup of coffee and taking a sip.

"things have pretty much broken up between my fiance and myself."

"...ah..." Vincent replied, not quite sure how to continue - feeling a little stupid for having asked the question.
"So... um..." Vincent sighed softly, "You doing anything today?"

"Looking for another place to stay," Jahnavi replied simply.

"Looking for another place to stay,"

Vincent raised an eyebrow, "Really? What about that... other guy? The one with the bike?"

"Got into a fight and I left," Jahnavi answered, pulling out another donut.

"Got into a fight and I left,"

Vincent palmed his face, thinking, Good lord, I've just been stomping through the minefield of this conversation, haven't I?
Clearing his throat slightly, Vincent had a thought, "You know... I've got a free room... My roomate flunked out over winter break, and..."

Looking warily over at Jah, Vincent added, "...I'm not suggesting anything... I'd sleep on the couch while you get the bed."

"Thanks, but no thanks." Jahnavi said, shaking her head a bit as she declined his offer. "I think I'm sorta through with bumming rooms from other men for awhile."

Vincent shrugged, "Ok, that works."
Sheepishly grinning, he added, "It would have been a little odd explaining a woman in my dorm room anyway, I guess."

"Yes, it would," She nodded. "Especially since you don't look the type who's had many women"

Grimacing slightly, Vincent sighed, "Got me there."
Looking at his right hand, Vincent made a fist, "I'm probably annoying the hell out of you, aren't I?"

"Uuuuugh..." Hiro groaned.

Looking up at the time, he noticed it would be time to head to work relatively soon.

"Work on New Year's... suck. Well, not like I was doing anything anyway."

"Le sigh."

He was going to put the cookies back in the cupboard for later but there were none left.

"Now I've lost even them."

"Le sigh."

---

Hiro emerged from the bathroom bathed and sexy, but it did little to help his mood. It was brooding time... still...

"Alright... I think I'm being maybe just a little too overdramatic about this."
"Oh no, I could be a LOT more dramatic."
"I'm not going to do it..."
"It would be fun."
"...but pathetic."

BEEP, BEEP!

The clock beeped. If he didn't leave then and there, he'd be quite late.

"Maybe later."

Hiro grabbed his bag and placed the item inside, making sure it wasn't sticking out awkwardly, and pulled on a coat as he walked through his nice-looking door. He got to his bike and performed his usual routine before riding off.

---

"You've gotta be kidding me..." Hiro muttered in disbelief, "'The Death of Masked Rider'? What kind of bullshit is that?"

"Hey, don't look at me," the crew member said defensively, "Jun wrote it."

Hiro growled. If it wasn't for him, the show wouldn't exist nor would it have become as popular as it is. And now they were killing him off.

"I can't say I didn't expect it with the way things have been going..."

"What about the concert? Am I supposed to be dead for that too?"

"Ah, well... Oh look, there's Jun!"

Sure enough, Jun was walking in. The crew member took that opportunity to sneak away.

Hiro decided to get straight to the point, "Jun, what the hell? Killing me off?"

Jun looked at him for a few seconds before answering plainly, "You're the actor, just do your job."

She walked off.

"You've gotta be fucking kidding me..."

---

"Action!"

"Gye, he, he, he, he! The definition for dead... is YOU!" boasted the rather large dictionary of EVIL.

"Jesus Christ... seriously... Losing to a fucking book monster? This is-"

BIFF!

"Ow..."

"Cut!" the director shouted, "Hiro, what's going on?"

"Nothing..."

"C'mon Hiro, get your head in the game. We don't have this location much longer."

"I'm fine, I'm fine."

But there was a nagging feeling in the back of his mind.

"Maybe."

Not amused.

As the city slept, Motoko Rolland was in action. Leaping from rooftop to rooftop, she pursued her target with gun in hand. The perp had gone on a shooting spree just ten minutes before in a busy market place and killed some fifteen people and even more police officers. He had run out of bullets and was on the run, probably in search of more ammunition, when Motoko joined the chase.

Wherever he thought he was going though, he wasn't going to get far.

"Freeze, asshole!" She yelled as she jumped another gap between roofs.

"You can't catch me, officer!" He yelled back as he jumped another rooftop. Undaunted, Motoko continued her pursuit, tucking and rolling after a particularly long jump. Getting up, she broke into another sprint after the criminal.

From roof to roof, the two jumped and ran, the distance closing a bit at a time. Before long, the crook reached the end of the line...the edge of a building overlooking a street. Turning around, he stared at Motoko as she leveled her sidearm at him.

"Hmph." She snorted. "It's all over, hands in the air."

The perp didn't comply, instead he drew from out of nowhere a katana and attacked. Motoko squeezed off three shots, but he charged on like they were nothing and slashed for her throat.

Ducking under the strike, she fired again, but he managed to roll out of the way. As she turned to get a beat on him, he lunged at her with the sword and sliced clean through the barrel. Stumbling back, Motoko looked up in shock as the perp raised the sword over his head and brought it down on her.

To the perp's own surprise, the sword was caught between Motoko's hands. Before he could react she kicked the hilt of the blade, knocking it from his hands. Tossing the blade aside, she lunged forward as he reached to pull a pistol from the waist of his pants.

...There was a struggle...

...A shot rang out...

The two stood, frozen against the backdrop of a spectacular sunrise. Finally, the criminal fell to his side and clutched his arm, a bullet lodged deep in the bone.

"You're under arrest." Motoko snarled as she dropped down and wrestled the suspect onto his stomach and began handcuffing him. "You have the right to remain silent. If you choose to give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."

Once he was cuffed, she hauled him to his feet. "You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you at government expense...asshole."

As she marched him toward a fire escape, her walkie-talkie crackle. "Officer Rolland, are you alright? Officer Rolland?!"

Grabbing the walkie-talkie, she answered. "Roland here. I'm fine."

"Oh thank God. Where's the suspect?"

"Right here. I've got him in custody." Motoko looked at her suspect and smirked. "I caught Carl Johnson..."

---

"...Mmm...yeah...that's alright, no medals..." Motoko murmured in her sleep as she clutched her pillow. "...Well...I guess I could use a vacation in Vice City...yeah...that'd be nice...zzzz..."

On her TV, her Playstation connected to it, forgotten Carl Johnson slowly starved.

Johann stared over the battleground from days past; his mind searching for some sort of answer. He stood atop the roof over looking the building he was thrown in to by the creature; seeing the hole created when the Soldat crashed through. His mind tried to go over what he knew - and he wasn't coming up with anything. He'd never seen a monster like that before. Generally, the beasts he fought followed a specific theme or way of doing things. But the monster he had faced could talk - it had a personality of sorts.

And it was anything but a pleasant one. And its 'hands'...

Johann shook his head. He knew there were depraved companies out there; but sticking together monsters through human body parts in addition to technology? Johann finally turned away from the ruined building as he began walking down the roof in the opposite direction, wondering what his next move would be, if any. At least he knew the monsters in this area were a reality; and not just rumors...

"This is gonna be a long day..." Johann groaned.

"Alright then... Let's try this again. Action!"

"Gye, he, he, he, he! The definition for dead... is YOU!" boasted the rather large dictionary of EVIL.

Hiro (in his Masked Rider costume) battled with the book monster as they had choreographed. Punches, kicks, jumps, wacky dialogue and all.

WHAP!

And thus, Saikyo Yuusha was down for the count.

"Gye, he, he, he, he! Sorry to spoil your happy ending!"

Buzz...

"Spineless!"

"No!" Hiro said defiantly as he 'struggled' to his feet, "This MY story and you're not a part of it! TOH!"

Hiro leapt at the man in the rubber costume, and he understood.

"RIDER KICK!"

"PROFESSOR REAPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER~!"

Plop... The monster was 'dead'

For a moment, there was silence.

"Uhh... cut," the director called.

Hiro prepared for the worst the middle-aged man stood up and stared at him, scratching his beard.

"Keep it. I like it."

Jun appeared, seemingly from the shadows, "Excuse me? That's not how the episode ends."

"Well, no, it isn't..."

"But you approved my ending."

The two began to argue back and forth about whether to keep what Hiro had just done or to have him do it the other way.

"Ahh... take a break while we figure this out, Hiro. Sorry," one of the assistants said.

When Hiro went to the refreshment table, he felt something again. He looked far down the street.

"...!?"

Hiro pulled off his helmet and grabbed something from his bike before heading down the road. He came to the park bench occupied Jahnavi and Vincent.

"Hey... Can we talk?" he asked her before turning to Vincent, "Do you mind?"

"Do you mind?"

"Oh, hey, you!" Vincent grinned, "Thanks for tossing back the jacket - I don't think wandering around without my passport is especially wise these days."
As Vincent got up, he winced as a shard of light went through the sole small crack on one of the lenses of his sunglasses, "Need me to leave, or...?"

"Need me to leave, or...?"

"That would be ideal, I think."

"I'm probably annoying the hell out of you, aren't I?"

"No, not really." Jahnavi said with a shake of her head.

Then she looked up in front of her when she heard footsteps approaching their way. She let out a low growl, a little irritated that someone would interrupt.

Until she saw who it was.

Oh.... She thought.

Looking over at Hiro, she said simply, "I'm sure whatever it is you have to say, you can say in front of him."

"Okay then," he said, "I was wondering if you were going to come home."

"Are you really that upset?" Hiro asked.

He didn't think he'd done anything bad enough to to make someone leave for THAT long.

"I'm temperamental,"

"So it would seem."

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Ooooh...... So you two are... damn. Now I feel stupid for offering to let you stay at my place till you get up on your own feet..."

"We are damn?"

"At least you're considerate," he said, removing much sense of interpretation.

A voice rang out from behind him in the distance, "Hiro! We're starting again!"

He could hardly see the crew, but surely he stuck out like a sore thumb in his costume.

"I brought you something you may or may not need," Hiro said, handing Jahnavi the cloth-wrapped thing.

He placed his helmet back on before speaking again, "Take care of yourself."

Hiro turned and jogged bag toward the set.

"Ooooh...... So you two are... damn. Now I feel stupid for offering to let you stay at my place till you get up on your own feet..."

"For the last time, we are not together," Jahnavi said, reminding Vincent of what she said earlier.

"At least you're considerate."

"That's because he knows I can kill him if I wish," Jahnavi said with a slight chuckle.

"I brought you something you may or may not need,"

Blinking a bit in confusion, Jahnavi tilted her head to the side and asked, "Oh really?"

Then she held her arms out when Hiro handed her the item that he gave her. Still looking at him in a bit of confusion as to what this thing was.

"Take care of yourself."

"I don't...I don't understand..." She said slowly as she watched him leave.

Once he was quite a bit of distance away, Jahnavi looked down at her lap where she placed his gift. She looked at it for a while, wondering what it was.

"What could this be?" She asked herself. Then grabbing onto the piece of string that held the cloth together, she slowly unwrapped it and the cloth came apart. Her eyes went a bit wide when she saw what was inside.

"My gods..." She said softly, then looking up ahead, debating on what to do from there.
