Someone can suggest me a nice one to begin with?

For PS2, with a lot of MS, few Go Nagai's giant robots and maybe with english version...

Well, there are only two SRWs available in English, and both of them are on GBA.

For the PS2, the best beginning SRW is SRW MX. Great graphics, VERY forgiving gameplay, and a stellar cast list.

Asking for an SRW with few Go Nagai robots, however, is something of an impossibility, since they are considered every bit as important to the franchise as Gundam is. However, MX does possess a decently good Gundam lineup, including Z, ZZ, CCA (and the coolest version of the Nu Gundam EVAR, IMHO), and G Gundam. It also involves Metal Armor Dragonar and Nadesico: PoD as additional Reals.

For PS2? MX is the easiest one (and still the prettiest) to start off with and you get Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Getta Robo G, and Grendizer.

The english ones are the Original Generation games (1 and 2). However, they feature Banpresto Originals only, no licensed series.

And as to the story, Mark Neidenguard has written very detailed story guides for every major console SRW on the PS2 which are hosted at GameFAQs, so you can always use those.

Yes. It has Divine Wars, which is currently airing, and it follows (mostly) Ryusei's path from OG1, with some changes.

Then there's the three episode OVA, OG the Animation, which takes place after OG2.

I watched the first two of this... Nice but the robots seemed more Giant Robots than Mechas...

Giant Robots fall under the category of Mecha.

I would like to hear Kayurin's definitions though.

If I had to guess, either Giant Robot = SR, Mecha = RR, or Giant Robot = Japanese Style, Mecha = American Style.

Giant Robots fall under the category of Mecha.

I would like to hear Kayurin's definitions though.

I was used to make differences...

Giant Robots didn't havent clear joints or mechanics, are piloted using a lot of devices like cloches and buttons... They store amusing quantity of weapons in some ways that sometimes fight hardly between reality... They tend to combine, transform, shout their powerful attacks and so on... Most of them have a "window" to se the outer world from cockpit... Every GR is an unique masterpiece and fight alone or near alone against a lot of enemies... Weapons are exotic and somewhat weird in some cases...

Mechas instead have clear joints and mechanics, tend to run out of ammo, when they trasform the transformation is a really definite sequence... The cockpit has a lot of tecnology devices to ensure combact effectiveness and isn't to necessary to shout out when fighting... (Kira, Athrun and Shinn from SEED tend to do it however...) Weapons are biggest version of normal weapons with the add of someting Sci-Fi like beam or other things... Mechas may be repaired, sometimes are unique prototypes but there are also the mass producted versions... Pilot skill is important but there is also tactics to consider and the pilot shouldn't rely to much on the mechas power only...

After reading other post I think that Mechas are for me what you call Real and Giant Robots are what you call Supers...

Oh, trust me, there's quite a few 'mechas' (Real Robots) in the OGverse - and there's a trio of them that turn into a 'Giant Robot' (Super Robot).
