Ran was walking to her destination, the local office for the nespaper. She needed some kind of job... and delivery was really what she was best suited for, magical bike or no.

Rao was already at the crime scene, walking atop the building the man had allegedly been dropped off. From here, he could see the third floor's patio clearly. There were several things to run through - the coffee stain in the middle, the lack of scuffling, and the fact that the victim had been pushed - or dragged from the patio. Police tape had marred the entrance, but that had never been a problem for Rao. He wouldn't be bloody Rao if he let some stupid plastic fibre block his way. Climbing down the fire ladder, Rao silently circumvented the guards and made his way around to the edge of the patio.

Hm... as I thought. The scratch mark here isn't made from someone being pushed off - he was dragged off. That would mean... Rao peered over the patio. No climbing marks... wait... those... are puncture marks. From the angle, it looks like a climbing hook, but I don't know of any that fire INTO the wall. Interesting... let's say if it was a human using the claws as climbing tools and somehow smashed them into the wall... that would leave him hanging with no way to kill the guard. No, from the mark's height, it would seem these claws were feet instead. That means -

Rao's phone cut off the rest of his thoughts as it vibrated silently in his pocket. As if he would leave it on full volume in such a sensitive environment. Climbing back up the ladder, Rao sat down on top of the roof and flipped it open.

"Dude. Come to the factory downtown. Ryu said that there was a suspicious murder."

"Mm."

Closing the phone, Rao decided to arrange his thoughts better.

"Let's see... if the man was standing on the outer edge of the wall with the claws, he wouldn't be noticed from the darkness. But the guard did notice, that's why he spilled his drink. He wasn't attacked to spill the drink, he was surprised. That's why there's a lack of scuffling where the drink had been spilled. He walked over to the edge to see who was there... and then he was dragged off and killed. The murderer didn't leave finger prints... because there weren't any. The murderer... isn't human."

Rao crossed his arms. This might turn out interesting after all. Tuning into the police radio late night had paid off.

After finished eating, Nimbus walked outside his house to get his bike.

"Okay Victory Tornado, let's go!"

With that, he's now rushing to the factory where the murder took place. He was glad that there weren't any traffic because that would be bad.

I wonder if it is really a Kaijin who murdered the guy. Or maybe it's an alien. If it's only a human, I'll leave it to the police. I don't exactly want to kill other humans.

Rao opened his cell again.

"Nimbus... Nimbus... here we go..." Calling someone else wasn't exactly his forte, but Rao persevered. "Nimbus. I think the murderer might not be human. What it is, I don't know yet, but to drag a man off his feet while clinging to a wall with feet hooks isn't exactly what I would call an even remotely plausible human feat. Meet me outside the factory car park, where my bike is, I'll see you there."

Hanging up, Rao gave one last look at the patio, and left for the car park.

"DASSHU DASSHU DASSHU! KIKKU ENDO DASSHU!"

His phone rang again. It was the opening from an old anime called Captain Tsubasa. Nimbus was still in the middle of the road when the phone rang, so he decided to stop at the side of the road. It was Rao.

"Nimbus. I think the murderer might not be human. What it is, I don't know yet, but to drag a man off his feet while clinging to a wall with feet hooks isn't exactly what I would call an even remotely plausible human feat. Meet me outside the factory car park, where my bike is, I'll see you there."

"A kaijin eh? I'll be there as soon as possible!"

He ended the call there. Now Nimbus is worried. Innocent people might be in trouble because of this.

"It must be the organisation's doing! This is my problem! I gotta solve this!"

When he got to the factory's parking lot, he saw Rao and his bike there.

"Nimbus... this one is interesting. The murderer... actually, it would probably be easier for me to explain on the walk. Come with me."

Rao started off towards the building again, this time stopping in front of the entrance, where some tape blocked it. There was no need to sneak in again, yet.

"What do you think happened? Do you think the murderer is a kaijin?"

Nimbus was really curious about the murder. If it was a kaijin, he is responsible for it because it is probably from the organisation, sent to look for him.

Rao decided not to answer the question yet.

"Do you see the marks on the wall? My guess is that someone - something used hooks to climb up there and drag the guard to his death. However, that's not the problem. Hooks don't fire *into* the wall like that. The ones that do, are fired directly in the wall, make a hole and spread out inside. These ones are claws. Maybe attached to the end of the feet of our human-taradiddle.

"Notice also that there are no marks leading up to them. That means our friend jumped from the ground all the way up to the third floor. The other conclusion is that he glided in, maybe on a wire. The latter is impossible because the surrounding buildings are too far away for this to be possible. That leaves the first situation, or... or else our perpetrator has wings. In either case, it's not human, because I would be hard-pressed to find any human with feet that can snap to walls, or have giant flappers that allow them to cling to walls."

Rao showed Nimbus a picture he took of the crime scene. "The coffee stain I found was spilled by the guard. There were no signs of fighting I could find near the furniture that it was spilled, which means he could have been a. grabbed from the air assuming our monster has wings and lifted off, spilling the coffee, or b. surprised by something, probably our monster. It couldn't have been choice a, because the guard was dragged off and killed by the edge of the wall, as scuffled marks were found there too. That leaves b. Our guard was surprised by something, walked over to the wall and was quickly dispatched."

Rao kicked a nearby fence.

"What we have here, Nimbus... isn't human. Strong, flies, or jumps very high, can cling to walls, and kills innocent people for sport or food. Either way, it's in my city. And that means judgment will befall it."

Indeed, it will.

"We should start looking for witnesses. They might lend a clue."

"...You play games? We can go to the arcade center,"

"Sure I've got a few hours, and some money to spare, and games are fun too! I'll meet you there," Ryuji said, as he jotted down the address that was dictated to him. Looking back to his friends, he said, "I'll meet you later this evening guys. Oh...wait a minute....let's see where did I... " the young man muttered to himself as he rooted around in his bag.

"Ah, here it is," Ryuji said proudly as he pulled out several pieces of paper encased in plastic slip cover. "My character," he explained before handing the sheets over. "Look Knuckles there over and lemme know if he's ok," and with that he hopped onto his Vespa and putted off.

Ryuji's friend sighed despondantly, "Gentleman, we just lost a good man to the wiles of the female species." The rest of the young men nodded, and hung their heads in respectful silence.

"A flying kaijin eh? Do you think a Komori Otoko might be the culprit? I mean, the murder was done at night, and a bat would be perfect for this job!"

"We should start looking for witnesses. They might lend a clue."

"Witnesses eh? Where do you think we can find them? Won't they be scared to tell us about this because they might become the next targets?"

"Komori Otoko... a man-bat? Perhaps. If it really is a bat, then it won't be out at this time of the day. We can get witnesses to cough up something if we can convince them they're safe enough. Besides, aren't you going to kill that thing so these things won't happen anymore?"

"Of course I will kill that thing! It's kinda like a responsibility for me. I ran away, and they use Kaijins to find me. These people are innocent! We can't let it kill anyone else!"

He was angry. Someone was killed by a Kaijin! Someone innocent!

"ARRRGH!"

Nimbus covered his with his hand. The scars from the operation is showing themselves. This only happens when he is feeling negative. After a while, he calmed down and the scar is gone.

Rao stared in cold silence at Nimbus' suffering. The scar that pulsed looked like it was some kind of weak point of Nimbus. I'll have to remember that... It seemed to showed itself when Nimbus was emotionally strained. Will he be a liability when I'm fighting...? He's pretty simple - a taunt may drive him nuts if it hits the spot. Of course, that works in my favor too...

"You alright?" Rao smiled warmly on the outside, and laughed a cold, resounding beat inside. Thanks for giving me a weakness to exploit...

Snapping open his cell, Rao called Ryuhou. Explaining his findings briefly, he dictated the plan to find some witnesses. "If Nimbus is correct about this man-bat, we've got trouble. None of us can fly, and that means finding this monster will be difficult. Of course, we can somehow try to bait it, but that comes later. Anyway, get here as soon as you can."

"Thanks for calling me. I've been doing research at my headquarters about what the factory was for. Apparently it used to be a big one but layoffs made it somewhat useless. Now heres a good question. Why was there even a guard there in the first place? What is in there thats so important? Ah flying? I might be able to take care of that. We do have a small robotic drone that could handle the flying duties and keep an eye out for us. I'll be on the way. The drone should be launched later tonight."

Smiling in glee, Mao put away her cellphone as she trotted off to the arcade, which was only a little further away than the library. Her usually level and calm demeanor had melted, since she pretty much had just been asked on a date! She silently thanked herself that she was already wearing nice clothes, so she planned out how to dazzle Ryuji this time around instead.

Mao normally didn't get this excited about seeing a guy so soon after first meeting them, but there was something about Ryuji she liked and it was now making her feel light and fluffy inside. As she walked along, almost skipping, her long, green ponytail bobbed and swished happily behind her.

15 Minutes later, Ryuji putted to a halt outside the arcade. "Hm. I wonder where she is?" Pulling out his cellphone, Ryuji sent a short text message to Mao, informing her of his status. That done, he leaned back against his Vespa, and smiled, visions of really HOT, green haired girls dancing in his head.

"How many times is this now?"

Later that evening, Aj and 3 other friends had recieved permission from the drill instructor to borrow one of their vans, for whatever purpose they had. Of course, they kept the fact that they were going to use it to search for the body of the man who was attacked a secret, otherwise they'd never be able to go. Sitting in the van, Aj started the vehicle up.

"Alright, are we ready guys? Remember, while we're out there, don't openly carry a gun... Matter of fact, we may not need to carry one at all. Just search for the body and see what we can dig up. We can take whatever we find to the Police so they can handle it. We're not gonna be heroes." Aj said, as he began to drive away. Sitting in the back, his 2 friends were chewing gum and reading magazines.

"Oh, and try to remain inconspicuous. There's a reason why we're dressed like civilians. We don't want to be alerting people to a possible crisis unless the need arises. This is all hush-hush, as far as i'm concerned." he added, as they left the sanctity of the military base, and into Shibuya. It would probably be the best place to start their search.

The cop glared at the pair of men near the plant's entrance. Security cams had spotted one of them trespassing and violating the crime scene, and possibly even tampering with evidence. Katsushiro Tokage, a massive form of a man, and one of the best cops on the force, walked over to the fence that separated him from Rao and Nimbus.

"You two need to leave now, and if I ever catch you around here again," Katsushiro pointed his thick forefinger at Rao, "I'll slap your happy ass in cuffs and throw you in the slammer for everything and anything I can charge you for."

"Now get lost."

Mao spotted Ryuji already waiting in front of the arcade's glass sliding doors, leaning against his bike. Her face lit up as she called out, "RYUJI~!" while waving at him as she approached.

Ryuhou had just arrived nearby and overheard the security cop threaten Rao and Nimbus. This is bad, better get them back out of here. We already have evidence.

"Hey Rao and Nimbus! Come out here. We better go somewhere. Besides the Drone's going to be launched in 5 minutes. We better get into the van I brought with me to montior the progress. It's almost night fall."

"We're just trying to help. But I guess you guys don't want our help."

The cops were angry at them because him and Rao were 'trespassing'. Nimbus knew that Rao was going to do something stupid, so he decided to lift him up and carry him outside. As he walked outside, he saw Ryu waving his hands and shouting.

"Hey Rao and Nimbus! Come out here. We better go somewhere. Besides the Drone's going to be launched in 5 minutes. We better get into the van I brought with me to montior the progress. It's almost night fall."

"Yo! So we're really using drones? I seriously doubt that the drone will be able to handle the strength of the kaijin."

"... was that guy really that dense." Officer Katsushiro trailed off as he watched them traipse away. "Or did he REALLY think he held a right to investigate a scene of a crime?"

Katsushiro sighed and whispered into the radio on his chest.

"Masaki? Yeah, this is Kats. Look we got a trio of do-gooders and it seems like one of them's pretty dense. Just keep an eye out for them, they're running around in a van and I heard one of them mention a drone... Just... keep an eye out, I get the feeling they're involved in this mess."

Katsushiro let the radio click off and sighed in disgust before turning around and returning to his normal duty, attempting to establish a MO for the disappearance of the guard while others probed the man's past for any clues or motives there.

Forever "That Guy"

Ranfan had followed her sister to the arcade, and when Mao had dashed off to her friend, Ranfan used the moment to slip into the arcade, grabbing some play time and then entering the arcade, moving off to the side to keep an eye on the door. She kept glancing at her watch and tapping her foot impatiently, giving off the impression that she was waiting for someone to show up - which, really, she was.

However, out of the corner of her eye she spotted some arcade set-up for head-to-head combat in a flight simulator, and, curiousity piqued, she made her way over to watch the game, simply curious as to how it was controlled, and finding herself utterly engrossed in watching the pair of players, who were very good at what they were doing, analyzing their movements and their manipulation of the controls. It wasn't really the same thing as experiencing it herself, but that would be fixed soon - there was a single-player version not too far, and so, tearing herself away from the crowd, she started up a game, just to get used to everything.

She was relatively amused to find that she got the hang of it rather quickly, and soon found herself enjoying, trying to beat each stage faster with less damage. She wasn't anywhere near as good as the two in the head-to-head machine...but she wasn't bad either.

Ran walked out of the office and stretched. Woohoo, she thought. that went well! They'd accepted her application - the route was minus a deliverer as of last week - but it was, she reminded herself, still on a trial basis. "just need to make sure I do a good job, is all..."

"Something tells we should get out of here fast. And no thats not the plan with the drone. It's going to do reconnaise, so we can locate it and intercept it ourselves. Ah here we go! Its launching now. Okay... We're getting a picture now."

Ryuhou was sitting in the back of the van, locking on the drone that had just been launched from headquarters. The picture was that of the building where the murder had occured.

"Hey Rao, where did you see that unusual mark? I was thinking we could try to find something like that nearby. After all you got to think like the enemy, so why not see what he sees too?"
