Sophisticated Ancestor of Reptiles and Birds

September 19, 20XX Satoshi sighed as he inserted the money into the vending machine, the cool night air sending a chill up his back. He hated his job, he reflected as the machine dispensed the drink. He hated the night shift. He hated working alone as the only security guard at this piece of crap factory, and he hated the way he felt at night when he was on his single break on the outdoor patio on the third floor. Satoshi sighed even more as he leaned back in the cheap, plastic patio furniture that scattered the concrete deck. He popped the can of cold coffee open, took a drink, and then suddenly sat upright and looked around, the sight of the moon peering through the skeletal frame of a skyrise gave him a chill. He had this eerie feeling he was being watched, but the stillness of the night and nothing else in sight caused him to turn back to his drink. Then there was a distinct noise, a fluttering of great wings, and Satoshi rose so quickly his drink spilled to the ground and began to disperse its contents in great volume, Satoshi swiftly removing his Maglite and nervously fingering the small radio he had been issued in case of any emergency. "... hello?" Satoshi asked nervously as he began to walk back in the building, when the noise came again, this time it was obviously coming from the edge of the balcony. "What?" Satoshi was feeling a little better now as he slowly lowered the flashlight. It was probably just some bird or something, he told himself as he leaned over the edge... And began to scream in shrill terror as the face of a beast greeted him. In a moment he was snatched up, and over the edge and then there was no more screaming. Episode 1. Wings in the Night. |

Shuji sighed as he took a break. Day side operations were to be a break from the training, but he'd almost prefer it to this. "A lunch cart, lucky me." He groused, looking at the wide assortment of food he was to peddle. "Oh well, at least I only have to do this every once in a while." He quickly shook of his displeasure as a customer came up. "Hello, what would you like?" "Takoyaki and a soda." "Coming right up." He quickly gave the man his food, and got the money. Giving the man correct change, Shuji bid him farewell before collapsing back into his funk. "Hell, I'm in hell." |

"Ryuji, dear. You didn't get home until late last night. Did something happen?" "No, I as just seeing some friends mom," he said, as Mrs. Nakajima, a stout CHinese/Vietmanese woman, with greying hair, served her son some a western style breakfast. "Oh. I see. That's fine then. Are they friends from school?" "No. I met one of them during the traffic jam yesterday," the boy reported back. "That's nice dear. Honey, would you like more coffee?" Mrs. Nakajima asked her husband, who was seated beside his son, and buried in his newspaper. "Look at this, someone killed a Security Guard last night. What's this world coming to?" "Honey, would you like some more coffee?" she repeated. "Hm? Oh sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Yes, I would like some more coffee, please." "Here you are." "Thank you." "You're welcome," Mrs. Nakajima responded with a smile, as she finished pouring the black liquid from the pot she was carrying. Mr. nakajima went back to his paper, muttering about the 'value of human life.' |

September 20th, mid-morning. "This is so messed up," Shuji said quietly, reading the paper while waiting for a new customer. "Mysterious murder of security guard baffles police, no clue as to who the suspect may be." He quickly put the paper aside, as he recieved a call. "Date." "I trust everything is well." Reika said over the phone. "Yes," Shuji replied, clearing his throat. "The news is shocking today isn't it?" "You're refering to the mysterious murder right?" "Yes." "That doesn't concern you. Forget about it for now, unless you have something to be concerned about." "Alright, alright. Work is going slow, got another few hours before my break. What is it I'm supposed to be doing?" "Learning the minute details of the crowd. The vital nuances that may save your life in the future." "A different kind of survival training, I see." "Yes." "Anything else?" "Don't forget to keep a good count of the money. It's another vital part of our operations." "Right right. I think a customer is coming, I got to go." "Alright Date. Mushibre out." He hung up and turned to deal with the customer. |

"Heh, okay. But just remember that as champions of justice, you need to deliver the speech before fighting. Oh yeah, one more thing. This is my mobile number." [Champions of justice...?] [Hmm... I don't know. Keep an eye out for those men. Friend or foe, we know not. For the time being, regard them as potential hostiles.] [Seems reasonable enough.] Zhongfu sat in the tree, waiting for the coast to clear before leaving. He might have been more convinced that they were genuine champions of justice... If they'd bothered to spend time actually looking for people to save rather than think up strange stances, though he didn't know that they were actually supposed to be a sort of team pose and not a combat stance. |

Full of breakfast, cheer, and sadness. The former because he was heading to his favourite class, and the later because of the grisly murder. Shaking off his ill feelings, Ryuji parked his Vespa, and dismounted. Moving purposefully he made good time and arrived at his class. Yawning slightly he mounted the steps into the lecture hall and entered with a smile when he looekd at the wal mounted clock adn saw that he was a whole 15 minutes early. |

"Did you read the newspaper? It seems a man was snatched up a while ago, but people don't know who or what did it. All they know is that they heard a bloodcurdling scream before there wasn't anymore sound. What do you think?" a soldier asked, as he looked over to Aj, who was laying down in his bed, both hands behind his head and propped against the wall. "I dunno... I've dealt with minor criminals, but this looks like it's going to be a bit tougher to crack. I mean, we're military personnell, not detectives, so we can't go around snooping in places out of our jurisdiction. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't go finding out what happened." Aj said, as he took the paper and began to read. "I don't like the sound of this... I don't like it at all. But we have to do what we have to do. We'll borrow a van later and go looking around for anything out of the ordinary. Remember, try not to carry your weapons in public... or at least, not openly. We may be with the military, but we aren't exempt from the law. I'd like to keep our slate clean." he spoke again, before handing the newspaper back and entering the bathroom. |

Oblivious to the recent BAD END occurrences since she didn't pay much attention to the news, Mao left her home late morning, as she had slept in. This was normal, as since she'd failed getting into college this year, and not having a job, there wasn't much in the way of daily obligations for her. Stopping by the corner "konbini" store, she picked up some curry and yakisoba breads for lunch later before heading off to the city library. Though a delinquent in school studies, she did enjoy in more entertaining form of literature. Her outfit changed everyday, as she had a large assortment of clothes like anyone else with plenty of money to spend on such things. Today's wear consisted of a red turtleneck sweater, a shin-length black skirt, and slip-on shoes. Deciding on what to read was her biggest concern of the day. |

Having left his class, Ryuji yawned again. He found the class itself quite fun, but the he couldn't help be bored by it sometimes, considering how much of a keener he was for schoolwork. He walked back to his Vespa, chatting some of his other friends. "So Ryuji, We're gonig to start our new Dungeons and Dragons campaign this evening. You got your character ready?" His friend asked. "Hm? Oh, I dunno. I might have other plans today," he said back, with a faraway look dancing in his eyes. "What?" "Well, lemme check first," Ryuji said taking out his cellphone and dailing Mao's number. |

Ranfan had woken up early after a fairly nondescript evening, hoping to get in a bit more practice in. As luck would have it though, as she was changing out of her practice garb into more acceptable clothing (a long-sleeve white shirt and long dark blue skirt, with shoes similar to Maocao's), she happened to spy Mao leaving. Having nothing better to do, Ranfan tailed her, doing her best to remain inconspicuous. As she tailed her sister, she looked in various stores, making note to come back through at another time to do some shopping of her own. She rather liked a blouse she had spied, and what with the state of their family, it wasn't like she was hurting for money. Still, she had more important things to worry about. Like finding out what her sister did in her spare time. |

Still at the cart, Shuji was bored as the day continued to drag. "If I had known volunteering for this would be this boring, I'd have taken double gym hours." He decides to recount the yen. "A security guard mysteriously killed, some guys who may be alien bugs seen in the park, a Shadowy Organization that sells food and cleans clothes, instead of assasinations, weapons and drugs. It's like I woke up in a world stuck permanantly in opposite mode." He replaced the money. "I have two friends who have forgotten their names, or the fact that they can take the silly masks they wear off." He looks around the cart. "One's addicted to takoyaki, while the other finds joy in listening to Western music. My commanding officer is a nice woman, with the odd complaint over the fact that the higher-ups won't let her wear revealing outfits." He turns around, placing his hands behind his head. "I've learned how to use guns. I've slowly reintroduced myself to martial arts, run a kilometer every other day, and am now posing as a lunch cart worker. While most of the Organization work I've done has been tremendous fun, this is boring, the outfit is horrendous, and the people are annoying. At times, there are a few nice ones." He stretched a bit and looked for a customer. "Oh well, I guess it can't be helped. I volunteered for this, I might as well suffer through it." He sighs again and stares out at the people milling around across the street. |

"Ahh..." sighed Hiro as he smelled his lovely cup of coffee. Sitting at his table, he opened the newspaper. He immediately went to the funnies which were his favorite part. That wacky striped cat was getting the best of his owner once again. He flipped to another page and saw a headline about a murder. Thoughts of his ride home returned as he continued to read. "Ngg..." A sharp pain shot through the back of Hiro's head and stopped the bike. Something bad had happened, but he couldn't tell where... "Could it be another monster?" he thought aloud. Looking at his watch, he noticed it was nearly time for an interview. He gulped down his coffee, got himself dressed, and headed out. |

Mikael rose slowly, wincing a few times as he ascended from the flat, thin futon mattress. His lean, muscular body was clad only in his jeans from the day before and a tanktop, and he soon stripped himself of these articles before entering the shower and turning the water on. He let out a gasp of relaxed breath, and scrubbed his body clean before exiting, drying, and pulling on another pair of jeans, a t-shirt that had a caption reading: "I'M HUGE IN JAPAN" and his leather riding jacket. On his doorstep was a newspaper, and as Mikael made himself his favorite western breakfast (which cost him even more since he was in Tokyo, ingredients were expensive as hell) of biscuits, gravy, bacon, hashbrowns, orange juice, and coffee he glanced at the headline, which detailed a mysterious disappearance at a local manufacturing plant. As he sat down to eat, he read paragraphs between bites of food. "Interesting," Mikael allowed as he swallowed the last of his orange juice, drained his coffee cup, and mopped up the last of his bowl of gravy with the last shred of his biscuit. "Very interesting." Mikael said with his mouth half full as he rose from his sitting position on the floor. As he passed the kitchen on the way out he grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator, left, locked the door, and then proceeded to mount his bike. As he rode around town, Mikael became aware of a strange urge. He began intently scanning every shop he passed, looking for the one that would give him what he sought. "There we are!" Mikael cried triumphantly as he swiftly pulled into a spot and stared at the shop. After dismounting, Mikael stepped inside the music store and began to appraise the line of guitars they had on display. He went unbothered for a while before a salesperson assaulted him. Mikael waved the annoying man off before he could say a word, intently focusing on a line of well-polished dark wood acoustic guitars. Selecting one he picked it up, strummed a chord, and then put it back. Then Mikael located another, did the same with it, and put it back. One guitar, almost half-hidden at the back of the display, caught his eye. It seemed to be an unassuming piece of work, neither fancy nor too plain, but as Mikael strummed a chord something caught his ear. Curious, he strummed another chord, and then another, fully going through the total of three chords he actually knew. But he liked what he had heard. The salesperson, who had been watching the strange gaijin this entire time, was a little shocked as Mikael selected the guitar he was holding. It wasn't any sort of finely made piece or brand name, but merely something a local factory had churned out and pawned off. Still, if they could sell it, the salesman was happy. Mikael grabbed the guitar by the neck, pulled a strap off the shelf, and then took it to the counter and paid for it. Outside the shop he put the strap on, and then slung it across his back before mounting his motorcycle. "Now, something says to me I should head over to where that man was killed the other night." Mikael said to himself as he turned the engine on and put on his riding goggles. "Something's wasn't right." Then Mikael kicked off the stand and gunned the throttle and was on his way. |

He would need to use Nimbus and Rao to keep a eye out for the enemy convertly, which wouldnt alert them to where Ryuhou was. That was the last thing Ryuhou needed... --Next Morning-- Ryuhou woke up to the sound of his wrist device beeping. Headquarters was calling him. "Yes? There was a suspicious murder last night? I see. You say I should check it out? Where did this murder occur? A factory downtown? Okay thanks I'll go ahead and check it out. Please advise me if you get anymore information about this factor and what was in it, will you?" Ryuhou got out the pipece of paper that had Nimbus' number on it. [Morning] "Cleaning. Is anyone inside?" After a while without any response, the maid opened the hotel room, and walking inside, saw the room relatively clean. Quickly cleaning up the things in the room, folding the clothes that had been just left on the ground, and making the bed, she then went into the bathroom to change the towels inside there. Walking back outside, she suddenly noticed a man that had suddenly appeared in the room. "Who are you?" she said, somewhat frightened by this sudden person's appearance. At hearing this, Zhongfu gave a small chuckle. He had seen the woman come into his room before he got there, and after seeing her go inside the bathroom, quickly jumped back into his room through the window he had left open before he left the previous night. He would have to keep an eye out for those three strange men he'd seen in the park. He didn't trust them... "Thank you, miss, for coming by. I am the one staying in the room." "Where did you come from? I didn't see anyone in here when I came in." She was somewhat confused. There was nobody inside, he couldn't have been hiding under the bed, and he didn't come in through the front door. Could it be possible that he came in through... The WINDOW? "Ah, I was out for a quick walk earlier. I just got back. I've been told by some that I'm "ninja", as they like to call it, though all I do is walk without making much noise." Blinking a bit, the maid shook her head a bit before leaving the room. What a peculiar customer... |

This better have something to do with Kaijins or Aliens. Are you sure it's not Rao? Cause I know he will kill people for justice or something like that. Oh yeah, I'll call Rao too!" He ended the call there. Then he decided to text Rao to tell him to go to the factory. "Dude. Come to the factory downtown. Ryu said that there was a suspicious murder." After doing that, Nimbus decided to cook first before going to the factory. He got a feeling that it will be a long day. |
