Just checking, who here would be interested in a Kamen Rider style RPG? I've got some ideas in mind, I'm just testing interest. |

Nimbus and I discussed this in detail a little while ago, so I would be interested in how it turns out. |

*tenatively tosses hat in the ring* I'd LOVE a chance to do this, but it would honestly depend on how my school schedule turned out. I'm burning myself out with @A as is, and the only reason I agreed to do AC was because my character wouldn't have to be a major player most of the time. |

How would one go about playing a Kamen Rider game? It seems like it would be difficult. |

Honestly, I think it'd be considerably simpler than most of the RPG's we've attempted in the past. First, the scale is vastly different, at least from what I've seen. Kamen Rider seems to largely be based in vast metropolitan areas, instead of using the entire world, or earth sphere, or even solar system as a battlefield. Also, there's no need for a vast cast, or dozens of political movements, or anything as complicated as that. Combat would be vastly simplified too by the fact that, to my knowledge, Kamen Riders don't fly. So it all comes down to (mostly) martial arts ground combat with various finishers employed, in a city-scape, and with a relatively concentrated cast. I can't see how this would be any more difficult than anything else we've done. It would just be different. |

Thrawn's right. Sure, we could easily change the cityscape from time-to-time, since Riders DO travel cross-country on occasion, but the overall set-up is much simpler. Such a game would essentially focus on the Riders attempts to stop whatever freaky threat to the world was rearing it's head this time, from mutants and aliens to ancient demons (depending on what series you watch). The interplay would have the various Riders meeting and interacting as they ran into each other (and possibly fighting, since the newer Riders have this nasty habit of not liking each other half the time) and then ultimately teaming up by the end of the RP as this big-ass Rider army to storm the HQ of whatever evil organization was being dealt with at that time. As to how origins would work, unless this was set in the OG Rider universe or a parallel version thereof, a general theme would be given to all the players as to the overall feel the Riders are all supposed to have and where they get their powers from. For example, the Riders in Kamen Rider Hibiki are all Oni who fight to protect humans form ancient Japanese demons. The Kabuto Riders are all powered by special bug-shaped transformation devices called Zecters that give them armored forms based off their chosen insect. The Ryuki Riders all get their powers by making a pact with an ancient spirit of legend, and so on. Attacks would be along the lines of what you would find in Saint Seiya, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (aka Ronin Warriors) and so forth: flashy martial-arts based attacks that are usually capable of taking out lesser monsters in one stroke. Riders usually have about 2 or 3 of these special attacks, which will often go along with whatever their particular theme is. And, due to the overall nature of the concept, all the Riders would be roughly equal power-wise, though each would have his or her own particular strengths and weaknesses, of course. ANd no, with the exception of Skyrider, Kamen Riders don't fly. They just - in the immortal words of Samurai Jack - jump good. ;) |

Agito is actually the name given to all humans that start manifesting powers that are usually psychic or psychokinetic in nature. Because of its threat to the balance of nature or something, the main bad guy sends animal people (Unknowns) to kill Agitos. The main Agito, Gills and Another Agito develop their transforming abilities in moments of near death. G3/G3X are manmade riders so the police will be capable of fending off supernatural threats. G4 is made by some military organization and also exploits the precognitive abilities of a particular Agito. |

Hm... I wonder how RX would fit in... Ryuki: "I came from ancient beings." Kabuto: "I came from the future." RX: "I came from the sun." Hopper: "I came from being modified by evil dudes into a weapon of mass ass-kicking." ... Well, ok. That's not so bad. |

To be perfectly honest, a lot of Akito/Hibiki didn't have bug themes indeed... but it's the thought that counts. XD I think I'll just use my Kamen Rider Loli designs, and trim them down, removing most of the insane apparatus XD |
