Alright, well I may be coming into some money, and as anyone who knows me knows, I'm indecisive on where to go with this. In addition to a fliptop, I'm torn on the following choices as to the first import game I get.

Super Robot Wars Alpha 2
Super Robot Wars Alpha 3
Super Robot Wars MX
ACE
ACE 2

I'm leaning away from SRW@3, due to not having played @2 yet, but I put the choice there nontheless. Any suggestions, listings of pros and cons by series vets, would be appreciated and very helpful, thanks.

Ignore Alpha 2 unless you ridiculously adore Crossbone Gundam.

MX is insanely pretty and I love the cast list. Alpha 3 has more replay value and feels more epic though.

I haven't played ACE1. ACE2 is plenty fun though.

@2 is awesome for Crossbone and Brain Power'd, but 'totoro's right: in a lot of ways it's more of an Alpha sidestory than an actual sequel. Go for @3 if you want the definitive @ experience...that doesn't include Giant Robo, of course.

MX is pretty damn awesome, but if you're one of those people whose games HAVE to be difficult in order to enjoy them, you might not be able to appreciate it fully.

From what I hear, ACE2 is loads better than ACE1, so there's no real reason to play 1 now that 2 is out...unless you just HAVE to use Zeta Gundam stuff, nayway.

I'd say @3, MX, or ACE 2.

It just depends on what game genres you like; I doubt that not playing @2 will have any major effect on your ability to enjoy @3's plot. ;p

Get Impact if you can, it provides a great challenge compared to MX, but MX has Zeorymer, which is <333... Oh, and get @3 instead of @2, it won't detract.

I'd narrow the list down to @3 and ACE 2, with the tie breaker going to which ever genre you'd rather play- SRPG or Action.

ACE1 is good, but I hear that 2's better (hope to find out soon enough). Unless you have some severe need for Zeta, Wing, and Prince of Darkness' plots.

::still a bit bitter that EW is basically a token presence in 2::

The TFO was far from useless in MX...it was like unto a GOD!!!!

And I always preferred Sayaka, personally. :P

To be honest, Amuro felt like a simple extra in ACE2 as well. He didn't really bring anything to the table since both Char and Quess are no shows in the story.

It's strange, while God Gundam got listened as an Extra series, it felt like he had more bearing in the story than Amuro did. I guess they need one old ace around all the time though. Has he ever been tossed into a SRW game just for kicks?

Amuro was fairly irrelevent plotwise in @3, too. He was just...there.

Back off, Maria-lover!! Sayaka was hot as hell and you KNOW it!! Theres a reason SHE'S the one getting all the Jilpoong attention, after all.

Besides, if you were going to choose between two attractive women who both had severe jealously issues and access to advanced firepower, which would you rather be around: the one who can be easily bribed into NOT killing you with sweets, or the one who is capable of rupturing your skull with her tongue during tonsil-hockey? :P

Bah, Sayaka was merely cute. Maria's HOT. And well...um maybe I like Maria enough to endanger my health just a teensy bit. >_>;

You sound just like Ideon. :P

*waves Sayaka banner*

Anyway, just to get back on topic for at least ONE post, just what WAS the last SRW that Amuro made any kind of meaningful contribution to? GC, wasn't it?

Maria is hot, but the fact she could accidentally cripple me is a bit of a turn-off. XD

Amuro could save Char in @2...that's kind of useful.

Yeah, probably GC, although even then it felt like the brushed through the OYW way too quickly. As much as I'd love to see it pop up as a major player in SRW again, it seems without Sayla's seiyuu around, they just wont go for it. That, and everyone seems tired of it despite it not showing up in any sort of major way since the SNES games. Probably confusing Amuro and Char's CCA selves with their MSG era personas.

Well, yeah, but considering that ACE2 was EW's debut into the series, you'd think we'd get more than the duel with Wu Fei and a Serpent throw-down as a bonus stage.

...we are talking about the game where the first third of it was hijacked by The Char and Maiyo Show, right?

Personally, I'd recommend MX. Awesome cast list, great graphics, fun (if easy) gameplay, and it's self-contained.

Plus the TFO is still your God. And Maria is hawt.

Exactly, the first third. Woo. MSG doesn't even take up half of the game.

Of course, that didn't exactly make me dislike GC, just a disapointment. The only real problem I had with it was it tended to go through long blitzes of stages focusing on only one series, like 5-6 MSG stages, then 6-7 L-Gaim, etc, which felt a little awkward after a while.

Well I’ve only played 2 games on your list (SRW @2 and SRW MX) and even then I haven’t played much of either, but I really did think that MX was a fun game. I’ve yet to play enough of @2 to really say how good or bad it is.
