Based off the original Guyver series(12 eps), this just seems like a 'modernized' version of that older series. So far, it has held close to how events played out in the first series and shows some signs of making some characters seem cooler/more sinister than they were originally.

Have any of you caught this series? How does it seem so far?

In some ways it's far more faithful to the original manga, but it also makes some interesting changes in the story as well.

So far I think it's absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait for ADV to hurry and start releasing it over here.

I could've sworn we had a topic for this a couple months ago... anyway, yeah, I grabbed the first 2 episodes, and then forgot to keep checking for any subsequent releases. What's it up to now?

I wonder if it will reach the "Gigantic" arc.

I wonder if it will reach the "Gigantic" arc.

Well, since the Hyper Guyver shows up in the first episode, I'd say it's pretty likely.

Has anybody found the edits to classic Guyver OVA atrocious? Changed OP, bad video editing, and... the voices >_< Screw those who try to replace Kusao's voice! (If anything, all of Kusao Takeshi's roles that are dubbed in English suck amazing amounts).

Fixed. XD

Don't remember it was a long time ago. I have both old and new Guyver sitting somewhere waiting to be watched. ><

XD Well, I wouldn't condemn every role. Some stuff were okay/decent, depending.

I remember the dub fondly despite it's awfulness, because it was the first time I ever got to hear David Lucas...not to mention I snickered hearing the English voice of Agumon coming out of Sho's mouth.

It's probably a much wiser and profitable investment to do what FUNimation, Manga Entertainment, and Media Blasters have done - invest in original new titles like Afro Samurai, The Five Killers, and Strait Jacket, or invest in a new installment of a franchise with larger market appeal that Guyver, such as Kite Liberator.

I think he's full of shit and he doesn't know it.

Somehow I think a second season of Guyver would do a bit better than the first one, simply because it would FINALLY be covering territory that hasn't been animated. And while the American market IS in a bad way right now, Guyver TV sold pretty damn well, which means a second season would be a much better investment than say, things like anime club sponsorships and magazines.
