History: Born into a military family, Anya was the second and last child of the Emmerson family. She was actually her parents second attempt at a son to carry on the family name, but soon after Anya was born, Rachel learned that she could no longer have children. When Anya was about a year old, her parents got reassigned from Central to Risembool, as the State thought it would be a nice atmosphere to raise a family. (Unusual, I know, but just go with it.)

Ever since she could remember, she always hung around three kids everyday: Ed, Al, and Winry. They went everywhere together, and did everything together. The girls would pull pranks on the guys, and vice versa. While she and Winry were indeed very close, she considered the boys to be her best friends... Ed even more so. Eventually, she started to like him. When Trisha Elric died, Anya felt as though her own mother had passed away, and words could not describe how bad she felt for her two best friends (yes, also when Winry's parents died too). But when Ed and Al left for training, things went downhill from there.

Growing up, Anya had always known that her father resented her for not being the son he had always wanted. She had tried her best to at least ACT like a son- playing rough, being stubborn, and having a hot-temper- but Greg would have none of it. In the dead of night, while Ed and Al were still in training, and while the Emmerson family slept, Greg gathered what he could carry and left. No on knows for sure exactly why he left, but he was never to be seen again. Rachel Emmerson took the loss very hard- they had been sweethearts since childhood- and fell into a deep depression. She rarely came out of her bedroom, forcing Winona to take care of her younger sister. For the next few months, Anya grew to hate her mother for neglecting their needs. But things didn't stop there.

A few days after Ed and Al's attempt to bring Trisha back, Anya, Winona, and Rachel were at home, about to have dinner. Anya went to her mother's room to try to make Rachel come out and eat at least once that week. When Ayna opened the door, Rachel had a gun to her head. She mouthed the words "I'm sorry", and pulled the trigger. Anya just stood there- thoughtless and motionless. Winona ran into the room, screamed, and ran to her mother's side. She screamed at Anya to get help, who immediately called Pinako and said to "Just come. And hurry."

Rachel's funeral was two days after. Ayna refused to leave her mother's side, slept at the grave site, didn't leave until the next afternoon. She had felt so bad for hating her mother before that she began to believe the death was her fault. One week after Rachel's death, Winona ran away from home, and once again Ayna withdrew into herself. She stayed at Pinako and Winry's for the next 3 or 4 months, then evetually left to catch up with Ed and Al. She travelled with them for a time, but upon the last trip back to Risembool, Ayna was forced to stay. "It's too risky, and I don't want to see you get hurt even more," Ed told her. And she had yet to tell him how she felt about him.

The last she saw of the two was before they went back to Thule to destroy the gate. It had been so long since then, that she believed she was finally getting over him. She knew she would probably never see him again, so she pretty much gave up all hope. However, there will always be that one part of her that will always love him, no matter what happens, or how much times passes. She now wishes to become a State Alchemist (even as young as she is, but she's willing to try) to find those she loves and bring them home.

"...Ugh.... ow...my head..." Anya groaned as her eyes fluttered open. The train she was on had hit a bump, knocking her head against the window like a peanut in it's shell. She rubbed her head, annoyed, and turned her attention out the window. It looked about late morning; she couldn't tell the exact time because she didn't have a watch. Well, not yet at least... She hoped.
After about five minutes of 'admiring' the countryside, she became bored and reached into her bag, pulling out one of the books she had chosen for the long ride to Central. Advanced Shockwave Alchemy Vol. 2 the book read. Propping up her legs on the seat in front of her, Anya found her place and proceeded to read, after all, she was heading towards Central for only one reason: to join the State. She needed to brush up on her skills before her exam, which was only a few days away.

She had finished reading the book, and proceeded to rummage through her bag once more for the next volume, when she glanced over and saw a shady man in the next seat, eyeing her. A chill went up Anya's spine.
"Pervert..." she thought, a bit ruffled. She opened the next book and attempted to read it, but her gaze kept wandering over to the man, who was still eyeing her.

Finally, annoyed, she put the book down in her lap, and glared at the man. "Didn't your mother ever tell you it's impolite to stare?!" she snapped.
The man stood and walked over to where Anya sat. "I'm terribly sorry, but I couldn't help but notice the book you're reading," he replied calmly, motioning towards the book.
Anya looked down. "Oh," she said simply, still unconvinced that being his reason. "Well, you could've just said something."
The man sat in the seat that Anya's legs were propped up on. She retracted them quickly and set them on the floor. "You're right. I could've. My mistake," he said, smirking. "So... you're an alchemist, huh? Very interesting..."
Something about this man made Anya feel very uncomfortable. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but he gave her a bad vibe. He stood, finally taking his eyes off her, and stood in the aisle. "Something's not right here..." she thought, cautiously watching his every move. She knew what was coming.

And she was ready.

The man whipped out a rifle and fired a few rounds in the air. "EVERYBODY DOWN NOW!! I SAID NOW!!" The passengers screamed in horror as the man aimed at each one so they would follow his orders. He turned to aim at Anya, but she was not to be found.
"Looking for me?" said a voice behind him. He turned, only to find a shockwave meet him and throw him to the other end of the train car. He got up, angered. His plan was back-firing. There wasn't supposed to be an alchemist on-board. He had intended to kill her first, but...
He aimed again at her. "Any last words, girly?"

Anya smirked. "Just one..." she said. And with that, another shockwave was sent in his direction...
