"If they Impressed a dragon then they have to have good hearts deep down! That's what sets this place apart from the holds! A few people eaten here or there, either as sacrifice or by accident, shouldn't change that." Name| Y'kib (Pre-Impression: Yankib) Age| 13 Turns Gender| Male Orientation| Heterosexual Rank(s)| Jr. Weyrling Weyrmate| n/a Romantic Interests| He has a crush on Zocheri Appearance| Yankib shows the physical figure of a child growing up in poverty. Shorter than he should be at his age, as well as much thinner, it certainly doesn't keep him from being noticeable, as he shares his sister Kiya's looks. Ebony black hair falls about his head, and, though not as deep a blue as his sisters, his eyes glitter with an unbroken inner joy. Personality| Even if polite to a fault, his curiosity about the world around him occasionally causes him to break manners. But only to ask questions. Until recently, he only did this with his family, as talking like that in Canargen wasn't considered a smart thing to do. Now in the Weyr, he openly expresses his curiosity about the things around him, and is demonstrating that even if his sister was taught to fear dragons, he's still young enough to hold wonder about them. If he connects anything to something normally seen as distasteful or horrific (such as commenting on the size of a dragon's head in comparison to how many people the dragon could eat at once), it is only because of the community in which he was raised and he is none the wiser of what it means. Adores his older sister Kiya, and looks up to her as a great role model. History| Born into a poor herding family, Yankib's known work all his life. The entire family had to work, hard as they could, so that everyone could eat. His father Yansov herded the beasts, his mother Kiba took care of everything around the house, he got to help them both out by performing such "big boy" chores as moving feed and wood about, and his sister Kiya? She was the honor of the family, she was a Runner. The best one ever, in Yankib's opinion. Their life was hard, and his beloved "sissy" was rarely around, but they were happy. Kiba kept up family spirits and taught the boy his Harper lessons (including some of the ones that weren't allowed to be taught in the hold), while his father instilled in him the values of hard work and striking good deals. Oh and that dragons were bad, bad evil things. When his sister was about, she also taught him things, like how to navigate the tricky forest trails, how to be respectful to ranking officials, and, most importantly perhaps, how to tell when raqs are about and how to get away from the dangerous creatures. One day his sister was sent on a run... and she didn't come back. No word came for sevendays, until, finally, they received word that the girl had been taken by the dragonriders of the Weyr. Feared dead, Yankib had little time to mourn his sister, as the loss of her income meant even less marks to be had, especially as she was the family's main source of income. Yankib wished he could've filled in for his sister, she taught him everything about Running, but he didn't have the talent for it. For Turns, the family mourned the loss until one day, when a silver dragon appeared near their home. Imagine the shock and surprise as Yankib beheld his sister being dragged away from the crowd by his robust, opinionated mother. The joy of reunion was short, however, as Yankib's father, Yansov, hurried away to tell Lord Tarinal of the return of the girl. Seeing the dragon as a potential source of income, Tarinal wanted Yansov to bring his daughter to him. However, the greater surprise to be held was when Searchrider G'had, well wanted in the parts for "stealing" young boys and girls, showed up to retrieve Kiya. The order to capture the bluerider was never fulfilled, however, as shortly after, raq's attacked, and G'had scarified himself to save Kiya and Kiba. After that, Yankib didn't see his sister or her dragon at all, until one day the guards ushered him off to the stables. Here he witnessed the first of his innocent breaking events as his beloved sister was forced to chose between him and her dragon, who was in terrible condition (Anzuth was tied down, underfed, dehydrated, and wounded). His horror grew as his mother came to their rescue—- only to end up brutally murdered in his sister's arms. From there, he was given to the Head Drudge and lived in a condition far worse than his hard life back in his cot. Though it wasn't a long stay, thankfully, as his sister came and daringly rescued him and somehow also saved the bluerider that was suppose to be dead. Kiya took him to the Weyr, even if the rescue nearly killed everyone but Yankib. And so he began his new life in the Weyr, fostered to a Lower Cavern worker named Mylahil. He only occasionally sees his sister, but, surrounded by all his new foster siblings, doesn't seem to take it very hard. Working hard, he found himself tagging along with another Lower Cavern worker named Zocheri. Tall as skybroom, strong as a burdenbeast, and really pretty, Yankib took a liking to her. She tried to chase him off but he stuck around and he ended up growing on her, calling him "Pipsqueak". He tries his best to help her, knowing she has some sort of injury that constantly hurts her, but usually just gets in the way. Before he was chosen to Stand as a Candidate, he'd become determined that he was going to marry her (that was a thing Weyrs did, right?), though, of course, he never told anyone about those sorts of ideas. Standing for Kalirith's clutch, Yankib Impressed Talsoth, becoming Y'kib. He hadn't expected to Impress at his first Hatching, a mix of excited he can be like his sister and torn because he can't tag along with Zocheri all the time anymore. And she also looked hurt that he Impressed... but he was imagining that, right? Dragon| Brown Talsoth Dragon's Genetic Code| n/a Dragon's Clutch| Kalirith 1 Dragon's Description| Talsoth is a dark brown, the color of black walnut. The dragonet has proven so far to be eloquently spoken and serious in nature. Offspring| n/a Fitting Song| "You'll Be Okay" by A Great Big World Star Sign| Taurus (April 26) Alignment| Lawful Good Pet(s)| Flit(s)| n/a Lunnew(s)| n/a Wyurm(s)| n/a Edited by Khaleeco, Jan 28 2018, 01:28 PM.
