with the gauge, i know when my oil is getting too thin.

Hmmm, dude, how do u determine this. Oil pressure risses too slow? or remians lower?

Hmmm, dude, how do u determine this. Oil pressure risses too slow? or remians lower?

for normal the oil should be at 4 when rev... and maintain the pressure through out the rev range... like mine if rev up to 5000 it'll show only slightly below 5

after using for too long, it'll get thinner (that means the oil have lost it's consistency. normal for multi grade oils). once this happens, the oil cannot protect your piston from wear and tear anymore... during this time, when i rev at 4000 it'll show near to 6. when i idle it'll show less than 3.

when i used shell helix (15W-50) which is thicker, when idle it'll show only 2... when rev the highest is just slightly over 4... but after 5000km, it'll become thin enough for my car, which is about 3.5idle, 4.8 high rev

when the oil is too thick, the engine feels heavy and higher fuel consumption. if it's too thin, the engine feels light, but noisy, plus you'll see your oil level drops. worst case higher wear and tear.

the oil i use is Conoco Gold or Chemlube. both has proven to withstand longer drain intervals with consistent performance. i change my oil every 8000km. this 2 brands shows no drop in oil level. I used Endless brand before, after 4000km, the oil got so thin that idle it shows 4 and rev at 3000rpm already shows 6! but in less than 2 weeks, the oil level shows below low mark.

Ic ic, ill go monitor my car. I think at idle its almost 5 (slightly less), or is that normal driving, under high revs, its up to about 6. hmmm.. need to check it up again. Check my oil viscousity, feels ok still.

depends how high you rev also... at 3000k normal would be like only 4.5 like that...

mine now overdue for oil change already.. 3000 already almost 6.. the oil's too thin. at this time my engine will start to burn engine oil. then idle go down to almost 2  ... no money to change oil

Hi OCP. i think i miss read mine. The gauge shows from 0 to 6 n mid point is 3 right. During idle its lightly higher then 3. Hi revs somewhere near 5500 RPM, n it goes up a bit more to about 4. that about it. I never noticed anything higher or lower. Oi pressure is low compared to your readings. I wonder if the pump is still ok.

what oil are you using? 10W-40 is normal to have your readings if they are less than 4000km... like mine now is way way too thin. additives will reduce the viscosity of the oils too... making it thinner.

Hmmm could be that kind of oil. But also added stop oil.
