eh can we still maintain the stock fan but jus change it to electical type?

so there is no thermostatically controlled fan for our 120y yet la?

we need to install a fan motor also rite?

don't understand your question.... maintain stock and change to electrical??

anyway, you can have thermostate controlled fan... just that you need to make a hole for the water temp sensor at your radiator bottom.

it's a risky job... FYI... even with my fan at max speed 100% of the time... my temp is like 40% of the bar. except when it was raining heaviry it'll drop to 25 - 30%. so there is no point to have thermostate controlled.

due to the limited space between the engine and radiator, you only can fit thin (uneffective) fan blades.

Also, the original temp readings were off... this is because of the contact between the engine temp sensor and the plug deteriorate. i cleaned mine and it shows 25% increase in reading. if those out there that have stock reading at 50%, do make sure you're reading the correct temp.

i've changed my connector to high temp connector that would not corrode. it's made of stainless steel. i have lots of it. there are 2 types of connector.. one is the flat type, one is the round type. datsun comes in both types and the wire harness caters for both of it. those who are using the flat type, you guys can take from me during the next TT... i got bunch of it. bought in a pack of 100s.

the fan is locked to the engine water pump... how can you mod the original fan with electrical motor?

erm ... me also thinking to get electrical fan since had a ride with jeevan and very weird that my engine and pian got loud sound ....
after had some answer ....

that WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE sound actually from our mechanical fan .....

the speed of fan follow by the speed of pulley which affected from engine ...

no wonder la rev more sounds more ......

later i want to say good bye to mechnical fan ...

have a good ride without 'weeeeeeeeeeeee' sound when revving ...

yup.. electrical fan will improve yout torque and FC... but topspeed suffer because at highspeed, the air gushing will "help" your fan to turn the engine

yup.. harder to maintain top speed because less momentum...

there are 2 reasons:

when you move fast... the angin will push your fan in turn will push your engine.. say at 4500rpm when idle, you car's engine will use 100% power to keep the engine running. but when you're driving 150kmh, the angin from front will turn the kipas making your car's engine uses only 70-80% of power. same like jet fighter... once they reach speed of sound or the plane's top speed, they only need to use 30% power to maintain the speed.

with electrical fan, at idle, you may need only 80-90% power to rev to 4500 due to less load from the mechanical fan. BUT when you speed to 150kmh (4500rpm), the load from the transmission, roling resistance bla bla bla makes you need more than 100% to maintain the speed. thus you need to tekan more minyak than when using mechanical fan.

but you save a lot of FC on slow drive and stop go traffic.

second reason is that the load from alternator... depending on your alternator size, your engine might feel heavier (lower idle) due to load from the electrical fan. but if you upgrade to 70A alternator.. should be no issue. and another problem is the temp... at traffic jams you have stable temp.. but at high revs, sice your fan is spinning at the same speed, your temp will be higher especially when climbing hill where you need to maintain high revs at lower gears.

jet fighter avoid "sonic barrier" to maintain hi speed.

can we put thermostat in our engine? just worry that using electrical fan, the engine temp will lower than normal working temp..or can use performance thermo?

Blurcase

the engine temp is in fact really scarry... mine alwes touch mid when im flooring it... i dont hav a tac (round light)... n learnt my lesson of not over revving the engine... T_T (engine went pop... smoke n oil splurting out the exaust...)

i think your temp meter is not correct... all datsun face this problem.. change the connector to high temp nickle plated ones... what happen is that over the years dusts, oil and corrossion cause the connector to be dirty... so the meter is not accurate...

before i change the connector, my temp is always below 1/4 line... after change? never below 1/4 line... hot afternoon can reach half...

so if yours is showing half, possibly it's already at max level.
