one of the ways to improve air flow is port matching. different from port and polish... port and polish is to increase ans smoothen the ports, best with 3 angle porting. port matching is to match the hole of the manifold and the engine head. or the hole of extractor to the exhaust of the engine head. no matter how smooth or big the port is, if it's not match with the manifold, there will be turbulence and air resistance. something like putting a finger at the end of hose with running water. this is a relatively easy job, and cheap too! first take out the manifold and mark with the head gasket... make sure you buy only the original gasket as it is 100% match the cylinder head. if you want you can also port match the cylinder head, but due to financial constraint.. i did only my manifold. Posted Image see the amount of meat i got to shave... it is marked by using the gasket using the screw holes as guide. up to 1mm at some places. Posted Image end result inclusive of polishing ;) total costs RM125 result? free rev up to 4k rpm with slight jab at throttle. smoother and torquier pickup and continue up to 5krpm without hesitant. difference is like between switching on and off the aircond on our underpowered vehicle |
