Right, im getting a 360 :-D! So, after reading about this 'red ray of death' thing i got freaked out, if my xbox dies there is NO WAY i can get it fixed. Here are my questions - Does it happen on xbox pro Does it happen AT ALL anymore Why does it happen Can i fix it without ruining the actual xbox Is there any graphic difference between the xbox Pro to the normal one? If so, are they major differences? Does xbox pro really cost $299.99..? ( http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDet...roduct_id=40530 ) |

I've had my Xbox for 2 and a half years already and i never got it, and i heard their packing the new 360's with a different chip that supposedly doesn't get the Ring of death But really, thats no reason to worry over because you can just call them and get it replaced for free, im pretty sure microsoft covers rings of deaths for free. I don't know if by "Pro" you mean the new Xbox thats coming out soon or the one thats out right now but for the new one.. So far the only difference i know between the Pro and this one is that the pro comes with like a 60GB hard drive? instead of 20, im not sure though And don't count on this but i remember reading it was $349.99, idk i couldn't find any more information sorry But for the one out right now its a 20GB for $300 and if i were you i'd just get that EDIT: WAIT WAIT i found it http://www.gamespot.com/news/6193719.html Yeah so the 20GB is 300$ and the new 60GB version is 350$.. i'd just buy the 20GB lol and hurry!! they're gonna replace the 20GB with the 60GB in early august?? |

K, do you know the price differences? btw.. is 20gb enough?.. cus 7gb is the console it self, probably 1gb per game.. and i might want like the expansions aswell and im scared that ill lose space.. oh and, memory cards - how much can a pretty cheap one hold and can it hold music and shit? and microsoft are just not cool for pissing on people who buy their xbox from Europe |

Well like the article said, the 60GB is coming out early august and will replace the "pro" which is as of right now 20GB. I'm telling you stick with the 20GB you don't need any more, each game is like 3mb memory, my max is halo 3 with like 300mb because of downloaded maps |

The red ring of death happens on the 360s. However it only happens in few circumstances. The one that happens to me is E74. Basically this is caused by the poor solder used while putting together the 360 melts due to overheating and it cracks. But to fix it, just turn it on and off a couple times. I've found that turning it on with the controller (pressing the X in the middle between "start" and "back") turns it on without fail. Plus, I got mine used but once it messed up and we called microsoft, they mailed us an empty box, we put the 360 in it (not including hard-drive, controllers, etc - just the console) and sent it in. 2-3 weeks later, we got it back and it was fixed. Not sure if it was a new one or not but it worked
:) There are NO graphical differences, they are the same console, it just comes with controllers, cables, hd, etc. Yea, it costs that much. |

Lucky for you, I'm getting a 360 soon and looked up some of this stuff. Well, I obviously don't know much about the RROD seeing as I don't have a 360 atm, but I know that Microsoft just lowered the price of the Xbox360 Pro ( the 20 gig one) down to $300. On either August 1'st or August 4th (can't remember) their going to release a new Xbox360 with 60 gigs that costs $350. I decided that I'm going to wait for the 60 gig one because I think that I need the new 60 gig one for more harddrive space for renting movies and game demos and such. But also, in the new 60 gig 360's Microsoft is adding a new chip ( I believe it is called the Jasper chip) the supposedly keeps your 360 for overheating and getting things like the RROD. Btw, I'm pretty sure that Microsoft would send you a new 360 if you got the RROD anyway. Other than the 20gig-60 gig difference and the Jasper chip thing, there's no real difference between thye pro and the new one. It's basically a choice on whether you need the extra space. Honestly, an extra $50 is worth it to me, so I'm probably going to get it early August when the 60 gig comes out. |

I've only gotten the RRoD once and it was for E74, same as Xen but I had just bought it from best buy so I just took it back and they replaced it. |

The problem is i cant replace it, no shops do it in israel so if i actually call microsoft itll take 3~4 months till i actually get it back.. now, if the new regular xbox's have an anti RRoD chip then im good |

Okay hmm at the moment the 20gb one is selling for $300. That's the one I bought almost two years ago, and I haven't had the Red Ring yet. As for the hard drive, I've saved games from 3 games, and downloaded 7 maps(Two map packs and a free map) from halo 3 and I have 10gb left. Alot of space is reserved for system updates and stuff. And to add to this, a new update later will allow you to save entire DVDs onto your hard drive for faster load times. DVDs hold about 9gb of data, many games don't use all of it but if you're planning on using that, reserve alot of hard drive space for it. As for me, I only play halo 3 so this is enough room for me. I recommend waiting for the new 60gb hard drive version incase you download extra content for more than one game. The red ring is not really an issue anymore and with each new version they improve the situation. Many of the Halo 3 xbox 360s came packed with a cooler running processor so I'm thinking these new pros will come with the chip aswell. Graphics wise, the pro is equal to the elite or any other system. Though with the elite, you also get an HDMI cable, instead of the component cables you get with the pro. HDMI cables have a small improvement in graphics quality over the component cables. Unless you have an HDTV with 1080p and HDMI input, there's no need to spend the money. With the Pro, you always have the option to buy the cables later. |

Alright, thanks MC. but , by saving entire DVD's you mean movies? Because waiting is not an option, if i buy the xbox in Israel it will cost 7x more then if i buy it in Germany (where i want to buy it from) and the USA. so, theres really no time to wait because i'm leaving at friday D: But, if i really need the space.. i can just buy a memory card, right? |

By DVDs I mean entire games, it's not really needed so if you're in a rush, just buy the pro. The load times on the 360 are good as it is, saving the game to the hard drive will improve it but you don't need to do it. Memory cards aren't really good, they're pretty small and pricey. If you need more memory just buy an additional hard drive. |
