Doctor doctor, give me the news, I've got a bad case of tubin' noobs.

Here is a guide, NOT written by me, but I found it very effective and a good guide for non SnD gametypes.

Disclaimer
This is a basic strategy for individuals in Team Death Match that works consistently for me, and that I believe can work for other players of various skill levels. This humble little guide is not intended to be, nor should it be considered to be, the definitive strategy for this map. I have certainly not covered all possible camping/sniping positions in this strategy, just the ones I find to constantly produce kills while minimizing risk. For example: I don’t cover positions in the middle of the map as I consider those areas “kill-zones” which tend to produce more deaths than kills. I'm sure there are players out there that have long kill streaks while laying prone in the middle of the street or while camping in the bus, if that’s what works for you-have at it. I also do not cover glitches or other “jump-spots” due to the fact that they are very difficult to get to in a match. Improvisation is a key factor in success at COD 4 and I encourage new players to try out new spots and different strategies not covered here.

Prologue
Crossfire is my favorite map…I’m giddy every time it comes up. My first 1.00+ Kill/Death ratio in a match was on Crossfire. My first UAV called in, my first air strike, my first heli, and until recently my longest kill streak (21) were all on Crossfire. No matter the competition level I am guaranteed to at least double up (best round is 29-2 with multiple no death matches). I feel this is because I have formulated a solid strategy. Many of you more experienced players may already employ a similar strategy for this map, or a completely different one, for those that haven’t got one or are completely lost on Crossfire-here ya go!

The Setup
You will need a sniper rifle setup to employ this strat. Whichever one suits you is fine. I would not recommend an overkill setup as getting a second primary weapon early is a key to this strat. Personally I run with M40/Claymores/Stopping Power/Iron Lungs. Smoke is also a necessity for this strat to work, as are claymores. I know many feel SP and IL are “crutch” perks. However, i feel they have their place on this map. You will be taking out (or attempting to :P ) moving targets on the street, for this SP is almost a necessity. I’m sure there are master snipers out there that pull off headshots on targets at full gallop without a problem, but I’m not one of those guys and I assume most of you are not either. Therefore, on moving targets I find it’s most effective to aim at center mass and allow SP to drop the target and get the kill, rather than getting a little “x” and a +2 when someone else drops him a second later. IL is also very helpful but not necessarily a must. You will be taking out multiple targets in close proximity to each other, Iron Lungs allows you to take out several in a single breath.

For this strat guide we will start at the Marine spawn point. Op-for will be covered shortly.

Marine Spawn Point Movement to Positions 1, 2, & 3 Overhead View
Spoiler: click to toggle

Move from the spawn point into the building on the left know as “The Dinner”.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Take a left up the stairs and place a claymore on the landing.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Next move to the opposite side of the building and place a claymore near the ladder.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Now move to Position #1, the doorway on your right. DO NOT ENTER THE ROOM, not yet anyway. Just kneel slightly to the left of the door, bring up your scope and steady your aim. Then stand up and quickly aim at the building down the road on the right. There is usually, but not always, an opposing sniper setting up in that building. Take him out!
Spoiler: click to toggle

Now you probably have your first kill of the match, (HOORAY!) but you also have a pissed of sniper on the opposing team that is most likely going to come after you. That’s great; it’s exactly what you want. Now you want to move down the hall and enter the larger room with the big hole in the wall facing your spawn point. DO NOT RUN UP TO A WINDOW! I see so many guys get killed that way. Crouch just outside the room and throw your smoke out onto the street. Wait a moment, and then move up (still crouching) to the window on the left side of the room. This is Position #2.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Again, bring up your scope and steady your aim. Try to focus through the smoke on where you think the building at the end of the road (downhill with the blown-out side) is. When the smoke clears look for snipers, there will almost always be at least one or two. The best position on that side (this is Position #8 which will be covered later) is behind a bit of wall on the second floor far right side (from your POV). Usually you will only see a bit of his head sticking up above the wall. He is the most dangerous, so take him out first. There may be a dumbass laying prone in the middle of the second floor, you may also see a head sticking up above the wall on the first floor (this is Position #7, and will also be covered later on) kill them all as quickly as you can because most likely they are aiming at you.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Now you have a few more pissed off guys that are going to come looking for you. And right about now the first guy you shot (or one of his teammates) should be getting blown up by one of your claymores. When he gets blown to bits, run and get his primary weapon. A lot of guys try to counter snipe by running & gunning using silenced SMG’s on this map, those are great for you. (Worst case scenario: the guy has Bomb Squad perk on and/or is not hurt by your claymore…if you’re a gunslinger and think you can take him out with your pistol-go for it. If you’re like me you will run like a little bleep and jump right to Position #4.)
You should have a UAV by now so throw it up and see where the bad guys are. If they are still at the bottom of the map you can continue to snipe from either room (if not go ahead and get to Position #4), I prefer the far right corner of the larger room (next to the big hole in the wall) aka Position #3.
Spoiler: click to toggle
Or sitting on the table in back left corner the smaller room near Position #1. Both vantage points will give you a clear view of the street (and the dopes trying to run across it), as well as multiple enemy sniping positions.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Eventually the bad guys you have shot will come looking for you. When they do, you can choose to go toe-to-toe with them using your picked-up second primary weapon or you can make a position move.

Movement to Position 4 Overhead View
Spoiler: click to toggle

From the larger room you want to jump out of the whole in the wall and head to the doorway on your right. Run though the building and exit at the end and take a quick left. Run across the street as quickly as you can, heading for the dumpster behind the wall.
Spoiler: click to toggle
Hop up on the trashcans next to the dumpster and look back at the building you just came from. You are now at Position #4.
Spoiler: click to toggle
From here targets come from all directions, which is why I haven’t laid out specific places to look for them in the overhead or screen shots. If you have any claymores left (for instance if a teammate set claymores in the last position thus not requiring you to) go ahead and put them near the doorway behind you. If you have none don’t worry about it, remember you should have a pretty good second primary to fend off enemies with. Just pay attention to where the enemy is and take solace in the knowledge that this is a perfectly good place to have your first death. By now you should have at least an air strike and are well on your way to a good match. If you do die here the most likely spawning locations are back in Position #3 or in the building near Position #’s 5 & 6. Continue the strat accordingly. I have had matches where I was never forced out of Position #4. In my opinion it is the strongest position on the map when claymores cover your back. However you may find that the enemy gets tired of being on the receiving end of your sniper rifle and begins to cluster at the other end of the map. If this is the case, then go ahead and move to Positions 5 & 6. This position move is risky, and a good second primary goes along way to assuring a successful journey.

Movement to Positions 5 & 6 Overhead View
Spoiler: click to toggle

Get down off your trashcan perch and head through the door behind you. Run through the building and then take a right and run behind the building in the middle of the map. I prefer to avoid this building if possible as it is quite easy to be killed there. If you make it into the building with the ladder climb it and take up Position 5 looking straight down the side street on the downhill side (if you have claymores place one at the top of the ladder).
Spoiler: click to toggle

The building at the end of the side street is the most likely location of an enemy sniper.
Spoiler: click to toggle

There are often a lot of open firefights on this street. That is great for you; take out the enemy while they are preoccupied with your teammates. Position 6 is probably the riskiest spot to snipe from on the map (its where you got your first kill remember?!), thus you will spend the least amount of time there. Just take a quick look uphill towards Positions 1, 2, & 3. If you can get a kill-great, if you see no one most likely someone sees you so don’t spend more than a fleeting moment looking for targets.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Depending on the flow of the match and the location of enemies you can choose to either return to Position 4 or move on to position 7(movement from positions 5 & 6 to position 7 is shown in white on the overhead view). Position 7 is covered in the OpFor portion of the strat.

OpFor Spawn Movement to Position 7 Overhead View
Spoiler: click to toggle

Move from the spawning location to the two story building on the left hand side.
Jump through the window and hop up on the counter in the middle of the room and crouch immediately. This is Position 7.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Pull up your scope and steady your aim, then stand and quickly look at the uphill balcony on the left side (from your POV). 75% of the time there will be a sniper there, take him out. Proceed to snipe any one you see in the second floor windows on the uphill side of the map.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Movement to Positions 8 & 9 Overhead View
Spoiler: click to toggle

When no snipers are left hop off the counter and run to the stairs in the back of the building. Go up and place a claymore parallel to the staircase far enough back so that it can’t be seen by an enemy coming up the stairs. Place a second one a little further down the hall far enough away from the first one so that it will not be tripped when the first one goes off.
Spoiler: click to toggle

DO NOT run immediately into the room with the blown out side! You will be killed! Instead toss a smoke grenade into the room and wait for a moment. When the smoke has reached its full volume run into the room and take up a position on the right side behind the bit of wall. This is Position 8.
Spoiler: click to toggle

From here you have a clear view of the entire street and the two story buildings on the uphill side, as well as the side street on the downhill side. Some of the most fun, and most challenging sniping takes place here. You will have targets moving in all directions on the street as well as multiple enemy snipers to contend with. I always give enemy snipers in the two story buildings on the uphill side priority over enemies on the street. Even though they may be closer to you, enemies on the street have a difficult angle to make the shot, while enemy snipers at the top of the hill have a much easier shot to make.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Once you get a few kills here the enemy will often try to flank you from one of two directions. The first and most dangerous is directly to your right were those from the small shop in the middle of the map can exit onto the side street. There is a wall there that prevents them from shooting you without giving you an excellent angle from which to snipe them. The best advice I can give is to anticipate the enemies flanking movements and be ready with your scope up and your aim steady when they come. I have found that when the battlefield becomes eerily quiet it is often because the enemy is attempting a flanking movement.
Spoiler: click to toggle

The second spot they will attempt to flank you from is from essentially the same route you will use to get from Position 4 to Positions 5 & 6, the buildings on the left side of the map from your POV. There is no way to get a good shot from Position 8 at those making this movement without completely exposing yourself to enemy fire. Use your UAV (you should have one by now) and try to ascertain the enemies’ most likely approach. I have found that when flanking the downhill buildings the enemies tend to come in groups of twos and threes as opposed to the single pissed off enemy that will come to look for you on the uphill side of the map. When they approach from your right side it is easy enough to defend yourself, but when they come from the left you have a choice; you can wait for your claymores to do your dirty work for you, and grab a second primary weapon with which you can properly defend yourself, or you can make a position movement.
Move from Position 8 across the room to the bit of wall on the right side. There is really no way to accomplish this stealthily, just get up and run. Once in Position 9 focus immediately on the buildings to your left. There are multiple windows and open areas where enemies may emerge. This is another position (like position 6) that is very risky; hence you will not stay there long.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Get a kill or two at most, or wait for a quell in the action to make a move to Position 10.

Movement to Position 10 Overhead View
Spoiler: click to toggle

Again, there is no way to do this stealthily; you just have to go for it. Jump from the second story room and run to the doorway on your right. From there move through the building heading towards the blown out building at the end of the side street. There is a small bit of wall there: that is your spot.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Position 10, like position 4, is extremely strong and offers a wide field of view from which to snipe. I have spent many matches in this spot without ever allowing an enemy access to the side road. Also like position 4, it is a perfectly acceptable place to fight to the death.
Spoiler: click to toggle

If discovered there you can always retreat to the building at your rear, run up the stairs and lay prone in the doorway. However, that spot offers a very limited field of view (you can really only hit targets in positions 5, 6, & 8) so I do not recommend that spot except in cases of extreme necessity.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Should you notice the enemy clustering at the uphill side of the map or in one of the buildings across the street from your location you may consider a position movement through the buildings on your side of the street up to positions 1, 2, & 3 (shown in green on the overhead view). This is probably the riskiest move you can make and I would not advise attempting it with just a handgun. But if successful you can continue to move through the positions laid out in this strat racking up kills and improving your overall Kill/Death ratio.

Conclusion
I hope this helps some beginning players improve their skills on this map as well as giving more experienced players some new ideas. Depending on how this thing goes over I will consider posting similar style strats for various maps. Any ideas or requests are welcome.

Wow.

Crossfire is also my favorite map.

And this guy uses my exact same strategies.

All the sniper points and position moves are word for word and action for action what I do in a match.

Tbh crossfire is only meant to be a sniper map, and these positions are the ones an experienced player will always gravitate to time and time again.

It would be nice if the author included a "reverse thinking" to try to counter all these sound strategies...

Anyway, using these I beat his record. 29 kill streak ftw (second highest; highest is 31 on Wet Work, only 31 because I ran out of .50cal rounds).
