Back in 1996, Resident Evil was born. In 2002, a remake of the original was made for the Nintendo GameCube. Thus meaning my favorite game of all time was made. Now with the series's only a few months away from it's 10th year running, the game is being remade once again but for the Nintendo DS. The DS Remake is going to feature the camera system and controls we saw in Resident Evil 4. The touch screen should be used for attacking. The stylus will be used to attack. For example, you can slash a combat knife by moving the stylus across the screen. The DS version will also be in complete 3D but this leaves some questions. For starters, can the system do that? Many wonder if the DS will be able to handle the 3D environments that Capcom says the Remake will feature. Right now I don't know much about this game. Capcom hasn't released a lot of information on it but I will be keeping an eye out for more. Source Proof This Is Fake |

You're kidding right? The DS can barely handle 64 bit graphics. 64bit handheld =/= one of the best looking series in gaming |

I'm guessing the graphics are going to look bad.The game will probably look like it did when it was first released all those years ago but I'll still buy it. |

It'll look alittle worse most likely, since the playstation was slightly more powerful than the 64, then the DS does 64 alright kinda. I just wonder if they'll use the pinpoint damage from RE 4. |

Back in July, the RE game for the DS was thought to be a fake. It was thought to be a rumor but now, we know it's real. Check it out! Come 2006, the creator of the survival horror genre turns the "Big One Zero". In order to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary, Capcom is re-re-releasing another remake of the original Resident Evil but this time, it fits in your pocket. Once again the hot Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, is the home of the news for this latest installment to the RE series. The cleverly named Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, or RE: DS, brings back wonderous memories and adds some new gameplay elements to the game via the touch screen and uses the Wi-Fi capabilities of the DS,which just started on-line a few days ago, or you could use the DS-to-DS multiplayer feature. The story is still the same. You still play as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield, both scouts for the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) The year is 1997 and ten people have been invovled in murders were they eaten. S.T.A.R.S' Bravo team was sent out the day before to investigate the murders but ran into helicopter trouble and is now lost somewhere in the Arklay Forest. The Alpha team, Jill and Chris' team, are sent in to find their missing team mates. ![]() Upon reaching the forest, the team is attacked by zombie dogs, or Cerberi. They are then chased into the Spencer Mansion owned by the only living owner of the Umbrella Corp. The team notices that they are not alone for the mansion is crawling with the living dead. It's up to you to find a safe way out and to find the missing members. ![]() Graphically, both the DS version (above: left) and the PlayStation version (above: right) are very close. However, the DS's is much lighter compared to the original. At first glance, the DS version might seem clearer but in reality it isn't. For you see, in the PlayStation screenshot, the zomibe is moving while it isn't in the DS screenshot. The DS version is fuzzier than the original game when in action but hardcore fans should care too much about this small graphical difference since the game contains a few new features. RE: DS takes advantage of the two DS screens the best it can. The top screen is used for the map. So now those who haven't yet memorized the mansion's layout can easily tell where they are going. Plus your health bar and inventory will also be displayed on the top screen. The rest of the DS's features (touch screen, stylus, and microphone) are also used, but I'll explain those in a moment. The DS version includes three modes. Classic mode is the full original game from the cheap intro to enemy placement to the love-or-hate controls and camera. This allows fans to go back in time and fully enjoy the game that scared their pants off of them all those years ago no matter where they are. Of course, if you're feeling a bit dangerous, you can play the Rebirth mode which includes the DS features, new enemy placements, and even a few new traps and puzzles. ![]() The touch screen is home to the action. The stylus is used to complete and solve both the old and the new puzzles (such as the one above). There is also a mode which allows you to use the stylus as a knife and attack the zomibes in first-person. The game is definatly going to be the first M rated DS title due to the gore RE: DS will contain. For example, duing this first-person knife fight, blood will splatter onto the screen and you'll need to clean it off using the stylus in order to see what is going on. ![]() Now for the final mode: multiplayer. That is right you no longer have to wonder the mansion alone. You and up to three other buddies can team up to play the game in a co-op mode where you'll even be able heal your partner(s) by giving them mouth-to-mouth respiration. Or you could try out the battle mode where you and your buddies have one goal and it's not to get out of the mansion alive...It's to get the highest score by killing different colored zombie and don't be afraid to play dirty by making things harder for your friends. After all, the strongest survive. Capcom has released a teaser site for the game which can be viewed here..Of course, the site is in Japanese since the game is due to be released in Japan before the States. The Japanese launch is Jan. 19 for 5,040 yen ($44 U.S). U.S fans can keep an eye out for an English port early next year. GameSpot's Screenshots IGN's Screenshots Sources GameSpot.com IGN.com |

A rumor has been flying around about a RE game for the PSP. Supposably, the game will star Sherry Birkin at the age of 20 who is involved with Umbrella now. However there is a flaw in the game's plot. Sherry was about 12 in RE2 and by the time she turns 20 (6 years later), Umbrella would have crashed already. Anyway, I haven't heard anothing new about the rumor in over 6-7 months. So I don't know if Capcom is still planning on developing it or if they are changing their minds about it; but after seeing a port of the first RE heading to the DS early next year I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see one on the PSP. There is also a rumor flying around about a RE game like Outbreak coming to the PSP. The rumor can be found here. |
